I am afraid she has burned many bridges behind her.
Looking at the fail attempt to release 50 remixes goes to show that most of her former remixers and collaborators did not take part in it. That is why we end up with no new remixes, no rarities, no additional vocals and no really new creative ideas.
Many of the peoole from her past do not speak good about her - or just stay silent!

@@Camille_Anderson she likes moving forward but for some reason these women don't really talk too much about Madonna and about the present, it's like they are not really friends at all.. maybe one day they will work again together.
@@firouz4296 I don’t really want new remixes right now. It’s sort of the only time she’s actually focusing on re-releases. I just feel disappointed in the release and it makes me wonder about the upcoming re-releases for the albums. She’s never been incredibly nostalgic and always forward thinking and I get that. But having even a couple of lifelong Madonna fans would have been input enough to get this release right. It’s missing so much. The album artwork is ok. The title stinks. It’s giving more GVH2 or Celebration when what it should be giving is Immaculate Collection. Sigh.
Madonna, Niki and Donna were really like a girl group that was never acknowledged as such. It is what fans want and would be a great step in the right direction for Madonna.

I had lunch once with Donna years ago through a friend (he knew her and her brother). She is genuine, sweet, kind, and of course, talented. Just a really good human.

Madonna made her own career, however I will say that without Donna and Nikki, I haven’t enjoyed a tour or album nearly as much as before. Donna is a gift to our world, and she has lots of great solo material too.
Every time I see you Donna I get a tear in my eye and remember you not only as the back up girl that had the exact same voice as Madonna - You were like Madonna's second voice that would hold the note for her because Madonna was dancing all over the stage, exhausting to watch let alone singing at the same time - I still recall saying to my friends when we went to the movies to see Truth or Dare ("In Bed With Madonna" it was named here in Australia) you sound so much like Madonna and how you complimented one another vocally on tour - now I am listening to you and you sound like Madonna lol - I can see why Madonna chose you as her vocal support - you are able to hold the notes longer so when Madonna was puffed out you kept the notes going - kudos to you darling because you really were not just a back up singer but rather a joint singer with Madonna and you still look fabulous - I love how well you gelled with Niki and you carried Madonna so well that it was a trio performance - magical and the sisterhood without the bitchy crap you get these days was inspiring for young girls and boys - I want to listen to your records and I'm certainly going to dig into that... lots of love and thanks for the memories xx

She’s so beautiful. Great interview. Brilliant questions!!! I miss my girls being with Madonna on stage. But I’m glad I have such wonderful memories, especially from Blond Ambition. Being a 17 year old gay boy, looking up to these people who put together the greatest show on earth.

I've long been captivated by Donna and Niki's vocals and the whole aura they created on stage and in videos. This is a really interesting and fun interview. I'd love to hear Donna talk about her time performing as part of Mylene Farmer's ensemble. I was thrilled when I realized it was her singing and dancing with Mylene in the same capacity as with Madonna.
Madonna has been a trailblazer for almost 40yrs. Thats amazing!! being lucky enough to been with her for that entire time ( old person, i know!) but she changed the world! as a young performer, she inspired & entranced me & will never know how much she's done for me in perpetuity. Great hearing Donna and its clear she is very talented and grounded too!

Niki and Donna were a huge part of the magic that created Madonna's live performances and recordings. Once they left (and Patrick Leonard's brilliant songwriting skills and pop hits), so did the magic formula. Madonna would do well to bring them all back, because she's been lost ever since. Her core fanbase will always support her, but artistically, she is of the past and has been replaced by the new crop of pop queens. She had her time, and a time it was.
I would definitely include her brother in that group too

I was a senior in high school when Truth Or Dare came out. I had come out at 15 in 1989 and Like A Prayer was my coming out album. It was a big deal to see LGBTQ. I remember seeing the movie a few times and the audience screaming oh gross at the kiss. Now there are LGBTQ kisses, and more, in every series. We have come a long way in TV and movies since Truth Or Dare but it started there.

So I‘m not the only one who hears Niki‘s and Donna‘s vocals on recent Madonna live-shows. Despite having backing vocalists, Madonna seems to rely not only on singing over her own studio vocals but also over their backing vocals.
It’s a little odd that she’s full of praise for Madonna but hardly ever speaks to her. I’d love to know what happened between the two of them but she doesn’t seem to be open to go into detail in that matter.
Probably what often happens. Lives grow apart and artistically Madonna has always wanted to move forward.
People change and move on. Doesn't always have to be some big drama. At the end of the day, Madonna and Donna were _colleagues_ (I don't recall seeing them socialising together) and most people don't stay in touch with those they worked with many years ago.
@@anonnymous4684 True. And Donna has always said Madonna has been supportive. They worked together for 20 odd years which is a long time for Madonna. Also, they probably socialized a bit behind closed doors, maybe. But they both just moved on with their lives, no big deal, really.
It's a shame Madonna ditched these women, without their voices Madonna sounded bland live and they covered that up. They are part of the pop culture.

"she was starting to write her own songs" "she used a lot of writers from new york" hahaha - Madonna wrote more songs at the beginning of her career, before even meeting Donna - than later. And her main collaborator was not from New York - it was her long-time friend that came up with her in her early bands - also from Detroit - Stephen Bray who she wrote many songs with - again before Donna was around. Blows me away that even people semi close to Madonna's flame just make shiz up about her to fit their own narrative. No other artist gets to be constantly misrepresented like Madonna.

@@vibeology9432 any moron can look into Madonna's history and writing credits. You do not have to be a music journalist or anyone with an IQ above an 8-year-olds to know the truth. Even Stephen Bray who wrote 'Into The Groove' with Madonna was impressed by the amount of decent songs she had written when he first joined her in New York in 1980. Any moron can also find him saying such in his interviews. So yeh Donna is full of sh*t saying that in 1986 she was just starting to write her own songs and that she used a lot of writers from New York.

Second, many of her most famous songs pre "True Blue" were written by others: "Borderline", "Holiday", "Material Girl", "Like A Virgin", "Dress You Up". Saying that, she showed what a hell of songwriter she was with songs as "Live To Tell", the whole "Like A Prayer" and "Erotica" albums and so on. She never got the recognition she deserves in that field.

I was living in LA when Truth or Dare came out and seeing the gay content liberated me. I was closeted at the time, and came out shortly thereafter. Thank you, Madonna.
