    I was able to purchase this for $179.99 at Fry's Electronics in Texas. Even though it had been out less than a year, they had it on clearance for that price. As time has gone on, I grow happier and happier with the table. It's simple, minimalistic, and does the job with no complaints at all. I leave mine on, so the power button doesn't bother me. My 45 adapter is brushed metal, not plastic. I bought the Q-Up tonearm lifter and it works perfectly.

    nice improvement on a turntable that was already very interesting compared to other brands with less quality and much higher prices, what i find strange is having a very expensive cartridge installed and here they come with a good mm AT cartridge, there are good brands that have been releasing good but very simple turntables all eqaul but with minimum construction qualitty the same i can not say of some around a 1.000€ pro-ject turntables,i´ve tested them with good old turntables ,even a sony i bought in 82 that was the only esprit series in the ES catalog from 81/82, but in accuracy i would like to see if this in 50 years works as perfect as others

      Gabone Service yes I was a bit off on my info the lp5x is the newer model the one I reviewed I just learned was discontinued. I think my model was too expensive and didn’t sell well do they made the X a little more on the affordable side. Aside from the head shell and arm I don’t see much difference. Great TT

      @@Music-for-Miles well...the cartridge is a new generation too, power supply is not internal anymore, so it became lighter (7.3kg), and now it has 78rpm choice... And in the back side it has a great switch: can switch between MM and MC cartridge preamp type...So if you put a new MC cartridge, can switch preamp sound properties corectly (instead on MM original cartridge)

    • @Music-for-Miles
      @Music-for-Miles  4 года назад +3

      Gabone Service those are cool features! I’m not a fan of external bricks, all my high end gear has internal power which allows for the cable to be easily upgraded but if you want a lighter TT that’s a plus. Now that I look at the new version I see the 78 setting too. My understanding was AT had to make this new version cheaper but more feature rich. So they cut corners here and there to bring the price down $100 while adding new ones it looks like. Not sure how they did it aside form the visual differences. Anyways the video was for the older LP5 so if I do any updates I’ll include the nEw info you provided thanks!

    Excellent vid grew up with audio technica cart but as far as I know never saw any of their turntables if they made any in the 70's the only brands I knew were technics,sony pioneer,dual,gararrd ,aiwa ,hitachi and direct drive to me is the best never ,never liked belt drive I never ever heard anynoise when i had a direct drive ,always loved direct drive I think the audiophiles needed something to look down on cause that is what they do best ,I was once and audiofool myself ,but I grew up and looking down at people who could not get these way too expensive TT's was begining to hurt my neck ,I have progressed ,the only manual TT I have is the at-lp120 and a pro-ject debut 3 I have mostly automatic TT's always found them fascinating if you could get the well built ones mostly rim drive and for get that audiophile poop about them being noisey they are not as far as I can hear them if they are maintained they work just fine ,I love the lp-5 audiotechnica TT but to me a manual for 500 is too high for me but thats just me I love music and use it to relax when I used my manual TT's I kept dosing off only to find tone arm at end of record ,I work all day and do not want to have to get up to protect my stylus everytime I sleep and automatic turntables do not harm record another thing that audiophiles brained washed me into believing ,I have experimented with these stacking type of TT's and have not seen any scratches except for when they are handled thats where the scratching could happen JRo

    Your at95 cantilever is really bent ! I would recommend an Ortofon blue over the red. A slipmat is only used by a dj to slip the record while playing. A rubber mat is not a slipmat. I would also recommend a Vm540ml for a great Audio Technica mm cartridge.

      @anthonyrobles587 having owned the lp120 I upgraded the 95E cartridge to a vm95ml (micro linear) and noticed a great increase in spund reproduction, it's a great tracking cartridge and picks up the finer parts of the music you don't get with the 95E. I also owned a 2M Blue but , for me, it just didn't compare the the vm95ml. But a lot of people like the 2M blue and either choice will be a big step up from the stock cartridge on the lp120.
      The AT VM95ML is rated for 1000 hours of playback and you can upgrade the stylus to any of the 95 offerings from AT. If you get a 2M Blue and want to upgrade to the bronze you'll need to purchase the entire cartridge not just the stylus because the bronze utilizes and different motor housing

My forty year old Harman Kardon T40 cost $325 and it came with auto lift and stop and the only time youre even aware it has it is when it lifts the arm at the end and stops the platter - no big noise just a click..
