Being genre-specific is an interesting approach. Has lots of potential as an easy solution to getting the right sounds in a compact Pedal. It's not hard to imagine a line of other Genre Pod Express pedals like Ambient, Grunge, Country, Acoustic, etc.
It’s broader than one genre though. Metal and rock on the black. There’s a wide variety of “heavy” styles of music. Yet, I get what your saying, it’s narrower than the regular express.
I think it’s a really good way to get Helix sounds for the price of just a few pedals that you’d put in front of an amp.. For the typical metal gig where you’d use maybe 1 clean tone, 1 rhythm and 1 lead, this sounds perfect to be honest
Hmm, interesting.......the amp/FX selection in the original POD Express didn't work for what I wanted as a Stomp back-up....the Bass one did bizarrely as I often use an octaver but then it wasn't in stock anywhere. Following the metal one, wonder what other flavours there are going to be?
Ok, now they’re making absolute sense: bespoke all-in-one solutions that give you exactly what you need in your genre in a very cheap and good sounding little box. I don’t care that I own a thing that already does all those sounds now: If they make one of those that exactly matches whatever the hell my aesthaetic is, (Sonic Youth, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Nick Drake, Sigur Rós, Marvin Gaye, Massive Attack, Portishead, Ry Cooder…what the hell does that all add up to in guitar tone land!?) I’d buy it five times over and have them live permanently upstairs, downstairs, at my parents, my car and my backpack. I know I can dial in shit, but the idea of something as tweakable and easy to use, masterfully curated and - most importantly - culled as that makes me feel giddy with inspiration. Ehich isn’t a good thing; I was supposed to ho to bed but I feel way too inspired to fall asleep now
Even just for playing at home I don't think I'd necessarily pick this kind of thing as my primary device, but if I were gigging regularly I would absolutely set aside the cost of one of these just to have an all-in-one backup.
I know these amps aren't your style cordy but they basically stuck the high gain amps I use. I really dig the diezel vh4 lead is the only thing I'll miss They got the plumes mode 1, and the life pedal boost!! Line 6 really caters to my taste.. The hall verb pairs with gainy stuff reall well. That would totally be my "fly" rig, head phone practice. Bro this stuff just sounds great They got the "preamps" thank goddd
Great demo as always. For me the genre specific unit is a no. Now if Line 6 let you download which amps you wanted , say you get 7 free when you initially register then a small fee for others that would be great.
Definitely not aimed at me, but can see this being very popular. Great price for the metal guys (who are often very poor / can’t even afford to shower). And it’s black! Hopefully they add a noise gate. Now we just need a John Mayer themed POD for all the hipsters.
Does Line6 listen to musicians, or are they making it on purpose for people to spend more money with them? I would love one of these units 2/3 switches for changing presets and one volume pedal, I could gig with that kind of modeler, I just want a few basic good sounds with an affordable pedal.
yes the prs Archon is a GREAT amp. Very Versatile, and is stellar in the FRACTAL. Nice opening with the Baratone!!! Djenty. OR as Tonejunkie says with Metal junkie GIANT of KANDAHAR/Great. LOL.
Meh, not impressed. Seems like a weak marketing ploy. Why wouldn't they just make it so you could download the amps and effects of your choice from a helix sound library? Duh. Making a separate version of the same pedal for every genre is a ridiculous proposition. It looks like they are trying to see how much milk they can squeeze out of this cheap plastic toy. That's fine, it's not my money. Lol
I…don’t think they expect you to buy each of them. This is an entry level product they’re marketing for simplicity. I guess they could make these with the capability to download different models and such, but I don’t think that would improve their sales…
Sorry Man, but your solos are all the same, you have good technique but zero creativity. Even if they all sound identical, it is impossible to evaluate the differences between the various products.
Yes, finally we have Cordy throwing a little Djenty big ole chunky riffage in there. Nice one man

I think the editor should allow the left button to switch between two amps and then use the other 3 buttons for effects.
Gz on the colab, well deserved.
That is the coolest PRS I've ever seen! Yeah it's like it's own thing, something with a bit of originality
Yeah might have to try one
The size and price of the HX Stomp was still great.
Tones sounded great !
Great intro! Reminds me of the Tangerine Dream score for Sorcerer. How about a few words on that terrific sandblasted Swamp Ash Special?
What a great video this is definitely a playing style You should give a little bit more love. Some really great riffs
Seems like a fantastic value for money!

So cinematic today! Love it

it's been such a while since you've used the shoreline T... It's the only T style guitar other than the NF53/myles Kennedy thats such a looker.

John you need to do higher gain tones more often that intro was sexy
Bit of a color grading problem in some segments
GREAT LEAD TONE!!!! best tone from you yet!!!
What did igor do?
Im wondering the same thing
I actually went to school with him for a time and he used to let me play electric mandolin through his Mesa amp. No complaints from me
I purchased your helix presets no problem, now I'm trying to buy your fractal presets and your gum road page won't let me?
Great demo as always.

Should have included a JCM800 and 5150 or SLO100. Some of these are redundant.

Love it - how much is this by the way?
$179
@@AudacityWorks Thanks for the update.
Line6 taking cues from Yamaha who had the different flavours of THR. Will these models be available to the original Express via the app?
Yamaha owns Line6, so…

Would be cool if they did an ambient/ shoegaze variation.

Will we get some of these in helix? Is Crux new or just what we have in helix
They are already in Helix. Not sure why they give them different names in the Pod Express lineup. Maybe to make the names fit on the panel?
@@erickuehnl I thought so. Very confusing!
Yeah man!
First time a different tone! Not like EJ! Good job
Why do modelers go squeaky squeaky?
Don’t all those distorted models sound pretty much the same?
Why not use the AM6 for the rythm part tho?
Haha funny to imagine how someone at line6 thought ... yeah lets send this dude our latest grear from the gainyer side of things
the baritone!
weirdest light there.
interesting device as backup... maybe just keep in mind that metal players don't have always reverb/delay on ;)
Needs IR loading capability.
I thought I accidentally pissed on my screen for a minute.

nah, your ears just suck. if you can’t evaluate the differences you literally just can’t hear right 🤣
He makes a video every day!
All the same .. yes .. brilliant!!
saying no creativity shows you know nothing about music lol
