Japan are pretty tolerant of other religion. But the prosecution of the Christian came not because Japan hate a christian or anything, but because the Japanese christian was used by the Portuguese to undermine the power of the Shogun to facilitate colonization.

I want to talk about some incredibly important CHRISTIAN history that's been forgotten when it comes to Japan. It concerns the end of World War 2. Did you know that Japan was once home to the LARGEST Christian church in ALL of Asia? The Urakami Cathedral had been constructed within the Urakami District, this location was where hidden Christians resided during the 17th to 19th centuries during the nation's ban on Christianity. It's a miracle of God that they managed to thrive throughout that time and were able to construct this cathedral once the ban was lifted. The City that the Urakami District resided in had been a stronghold of Christianity in Japan since the 16th century, with a resilient community that survived centuries of persecution. The city had the largest concentration of Christians in Japan, and the Urakami Cathedral was a central place of worship and community life. What city did the Urakami district reside in? Nagasaki. The atomic bomb that was dropped on Nagasaki on August 9, 1945, was detonated extremely close to the Urakami Cathedral. The bomb, known as "Fat Man," exploded approximately 500 meters away from the Urakami Cathedral. The cathedral was almost directly under the bomb's hypocenter. The force of the explosion devastated the church, causing it to be destroyed along with the surrounding area. The proximity of the detonation to the cathedral is one of the reasons why the destruction in the area was so severe. The American government and military were responsible for the loss of the hyper majority of the Christian community in Nagasaki, and without a shadow of a doubt had eviscerated the Christian influence in that country all at once. Their excuse for why they detonated the bomb over the largest influence of Christianity in all of Japan? It was an accident. They missed their target apparently, which was far, FAR away. Everything I've studied points to the fact that Satan had a hand in this monstrous moment in history. It was deliberate. And now Japan has one of the lowest Christian influences compared to other countries worldwide. We must pray for a revival in Japan. We must repent for our support of evil American actions that led to the loss of so many innocent, Christian lives. I beg you. I beg all of you. Pray for Japan.
Ah these are the Kakure Christians. I’m not sure about this person in the video but a small minority of them adhere to the beliefs of their ancestors. When the Portuguese missionaries left and the clergy were killed, the laypeople had to keep the spirit of Christianity alive. However, they started to develop rather unorthodox practices and beliefs due to their isolation from other Christians. Their rituals combined Latin, Portuguese, Japanese, Buddhist, and Shinto rituals. When Japan reestablished contact with the outside world, most were reintegrated into the Catholic Church where they were evangelized and their beliefs corrected into the mainstream teachings and rituals. A small minority did not follow this and kept this rather odd, syncretic form of Christianity.
It's sad that it is catholicism what populated in the Asian region. I pray most have truly repented and have followed the Christ. May God guide them and protect them. I pray the Spirit convicts them to proclaim the gospel and not hide from the world like Jesus taught in Matthew 5:14-16.

As much as I see the aim for harmony and peace between Shinto, Catholicism, Buddhism the end result is negative, as messianic Jew as must tell you, Jesus loves you but in the beginning Jesus was, and GOD is a jealous GOD and warn the Jewish people not to have any other gods before HIM but Shinto and Buddhism will keep you from knowing that Jesus said, “...I am the Truth.” Jesus says now today, yesterday, forever, “ whosoever believes in Me shall not perish but may have life everlasting.” Eternal life. We are living in the end times, seek Jesus before it is too late.
Japan was smart to reject Christianity during the era of European colonialism. Every country the church went into was soon followed by an European army. Japan is one of the only countries in the world to not be colonized.
"Suddenly, the god we believe in is the only god in the world. Those who do not believe cannot be happy. We want to save you." I'll gently close the door and call the police lol
Correct Japan is a Buddhist and Shintoist nation in Asia which I do love about Japan. And I pay my tributes to Tokugawa Ieyasu and his government "Tokugawa Shogunate" for keeping the nation of Japan safe from the terrible civil wars, restoring the Buddhist temples and making sure the Jesuit Missionaries stop forcing Japanese people to convert to Christianity from conquering Japan. Without the Tokugawa Shogun there would be no Buddhist temples or Shinto shrines on Japanese soil, but I am glad the Tokugawa Shogun did exist to save the future of Japan from these terrible threats of European colonial powers by the Spanish and the Portuguese Traders who were evil at the time. Luckily the Dutch Traders had an excellent collaboration with the Tokugawa Shogun for 200 years until 1854. Tributes to Tokugawa Ieyasu!
@@dustingriffith7399 the Jesuits didn’t even do anything violent and were just spreading what they believed in. There wasn’t any war started, and wasn’t done violently, the Spanish were weak as hell at this time as well were the Portuguese, and it was coexisting peacefully until the Shogunate and his paranoid group killed them.

I used to be Catholic and now am a non-denominational Christian. I see these as two very different things. From my experience, Catholics preach a dead Jesus on the cross but has risen and is alive! I am saved because Jesus died for my sins.
They don’t preach a dead Jesus, a cross without Christ is meaningless and just a method of torture, a cross with Christ invokes the feelings of devotion to the Lord who died for the sins of humanity in an act of love.

a thousand christians..??? m sure there are a lot more than that in Japan, since majority are orthodox christians i suppose
Roman Catholic actually
Silence its good movie about those people
Syncretism is no bueno.
Yes it is.
C'est bon
Catholicism has nothing to do with Christianity because it rejected the gospel preached by Jesus Christ. The man in the movie is deceived. You cannot connect Buddhism with the teachings of Christ. It is sad to watch this :'(

Is he still alive?
I feel like Japanese are God long lost child and God waiting for His children to return home.
idolatry according to the biblr. thou shalt not worship other gods besides me. they are not worshiping their ancestors they, revere them and they commune/communicate with them.

Amen, straight necromancy. It’s wrong.
Joshua Lewis Thank You ❤️🙏
@@pissant959 True.
Is there a movie about this?
Meleagris Gallopavo thank you!
@@pinoyfil-amsimpleliving6951 I also recommend the 1962 movie Amakusa Shirō Tokisada, also called "The Christian Revolt", or "The Revolutionary" it's on RUclips with subtitles last time I checked.
Look into the orthodox japanese church!
We don't care, jew
Japan was smart to reject Christianity during the era of European colonialism. Every country the church went into was soon followed by an European army. Japan is one of the only countries in the world to not be colonized.
Indeed. Africa can confirm.
Y por eso una religión que justifica toda degeneración humana sigue siendo la mayoritaria, una Victoria total no?
"Suddenly, the god we believe in is the only god in the world.
Those who do not believe cannot be happy. We want to save you."
I'll gently close the door and call the police lol
Many of the things he practices are non Christian/pagan practices (that includes the catholic heresies).
They tried to colonize Japan with christianity, but Japan recognised the plan and refused to be slaved...
It happened in so many other parts of the world. But Japan was able to resist.
@Mervin Freeden exactly
@@dustingriffith7399 Weaaboo
@@dustingriffith7399 the Jesuits didn’t even do anything violent and were just spreading what they believed in. There wasn’t any war started, and wasn’t done violently, the Spanish were weak as hell at this time as well were the Portuguese, and it was coexisting peacefully until the Shogunate and his paranoid group killed them.
Wait isn’t that and idol? The Bible says not to pray to idols. This guy is in deception. Repent and believe the Gospel.
That not an Idolism he is practing catholicism beliefs that has incultrated shinto and buddist influences
I think by not having any statues would make them appear a lot more like Christians. With statue there is one way to assimilate and be hidden.
Jonathan H “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”
1 Timothy 2:5 KJV
The ban kept western Christians from explaining these things to them. I only hope they keep God's love.
Joshua L could plss shut up?Youre so annoying and if you dont know the Catholism‘s culture then control your mouth to silence.Have a respect bro and be “Humble”.
3:57 The three coexist together --- because two are false and one is apostate.
So you're saying that Shintoism and Buddhism are false but they're apostate Catholics?
...Mary doesnt save ONLY JESUS CHRIST.
Not what Catholics believe.
@@pop3stealth97 Ahhh what? We Catholics don't believe Mary saved us, why are you lying?
I used to be Catholic and now am a non-denominational Christian. I see these as two very different things. From my experience, Catholics preach a dead Jesus on the cross but has risen and is alive! I am saved because Jesus died for my sins.
They don’t preach a dead Jesus, a cross without Christ is meaningless and just a method of torture, a cross with Christ invokes the feelings of devotion to the Lord who died for the sins of humanity in an act of love.
As a catholic, you my friend make no sense to me...we preach a dead Jesus?... lol what?😂
it still wrong tho praying to virgin mary , mary is a human like us the one we should pray is Jesus because hes the only who gave us all of our needs (edit) I see in the comments so they hide their christianity? but still in this video they show us they are praying to virgin mary they even do the rosary it still wrong or a sin.... and christian and catholics are different i think granpa is catholic, christians never pray to virgin mary or any saints we only pray to our only one God Jesus Christ , the word CHRISTian is the symbol of Christ/Jesus Christ. and catholic is also different catholics believes saints and praised them. But praying Japan from Philippines hoping they will learn the truth that theres a God. In Jesus name Amen 😌🙏
Deux Vult my japanese brothers and sisters.
Roman Catholicism isn't Christainity. The Man belongs to the Roman Catholic religion.
There are a lot of different types of Christianity (Catholicism, Orthodox, Protestantism, Anglicanism etc..) and Catholicism surged first.

Kawaii Jesus?
Please no
Vergin Mary is not to worship, but Christ Himself.
I was in Kyoto and there's missionary keep preaching on street about the end is near 2 of them are polish. Shyt experience
Umm I was in Kyoto 2 years ago, nothing of the sort, never saw a trace of Christianity anywhere.
For anyone who is unsure about their salvation please check out Renee Roland on RUclips, it really is all about Jesus!!!
We all know that Orthodox Church is the only one and true Jesus church ☦
I see a statue of marry, just wanna let y’all know through worshipping marry you are commuting a sin because you should worship the one and only god. Marry can’t help you, but Jesus will help you. That’s Catholicism and you don’t enter through religion gods kingdom. Only through the words of god=bible
No Catholic does "worshipping" Mary, always the same lies from Evangelicals. Adoration is not worshipping.
