A masterpiece from start to finish. Every line is golden and delivered to perfection. The timing, the visual comedy, everything… bit of an overused expression but they *really* don’t make comedy this good anymore. The ending is one of the funniest scenes I’ve ever seen in anything.
Trouble with this episode is that it’s probably the best Father Ted episode and the one I want to show people when I want to introduce them to Father Ted...but it also begins with a meta joke that you only get if you’re familiar with the show.
@@newstarcadefan Yes and no. Very characteristic of the show's humor and the second act is some of the funniest TV ever recorded, but it's also the second part of a two-parter and banks on you knowing about Bishop Brennan. By that margin, just starting with the three Bishop Brennan episodes in order (maybe with Escape from Victory in the middle to add context to KBBUTA) might be the way to go.
(I will say, the episode my family's probably re-watched the most besides The Plague is Tentacles of Doom, and that's a pretty good introductory episode. The first one I watched was A Song for Europe, but that's because I'm a Eurovision fan and was curious, and that led me down the wonderful - pardon the term - rabbit hole that is Father Ted.)
I'd start with "The Passion of St. Tibilus" if you don't want to start with the first. Introduces Bishop Gobshite- er, Brennan, and gives a brief history of why the three priests came to Craggy Island. It's feckin' hilarious.
yeah agreed. i cant believe that he kicked bishop brennen up the arse. i mean he didn't just sorta half do it - he got right in there - right up the arse. kicked him right in the arse he did. ..maybe he didnt do it? i mean its the most unlikely thing to happen. he'd be crazy to just kick him right up the arse
"You know that phrase 'to take care of something', i see now that you were thinking in an Al Pacino kinda way, where i was thinking Julie Andrews." Great stuff for bedtime!
@@Hello_I_Must_Be_Going - I thought the same, but I checked. It has the same peculiarity of a stairs that goes up to a landing for no apparent structural reason, and then down. It works better in Fawlty Towers because boarding houses are full of odd structures where two or more houses are run together, but not so well in Father Ted, where it's a single house. I expect it is done to accommodate the illusion of a stairs to a lower floor when the set is actually at ground level.
First episode of Fr. Jack I ever saw, and I was hooked. We've gone for tea at the Parochial House, shot a vid of my wife and I singing 'My Lovely Horse' at the gate of the Parochial House, and have gone by there every year for the last 5 years. Not this year, though. This is just around the time we usually go to Ireland, and we're sad we won't get there this year. Think I'll go have some Jameson's.
I've said this before but Father Jack always reminds me of my late grandfather. He was of Scottish extraction and didn't drink because it cost money and he was completely irreligious but it's like watching him on the telly.
But there is no toilet in here...run dougal fast quite fast...you expect me to get down on my hands and knees and eat off the floor, what do you think I am, a pony?
I once made a toilet mistake on my duvet due to this show. A relaxing convalesce for a broken ankle but sufferers of loose or brutalized bowels, beware!
"I won't be able to relax until the only rabbit left is the one sitting in your head working the controls"
Funniest joke ever
Gotta love that Brennan can go from threatening to rip off someone's arms to quivering in fear of rabbits nibbling at his cape.
"But there's no toilet in here!" My favorite part of the whole episode x'D
Me too 😊
hahahahaha yes yes hahahahah
I haven't laughed so hard in years^^
I burst out uncontrollably to that.. Hahaha
Father Ben is pure genius. Mocking the sitcom itself.
Graham Lineham did a similar metajoke in Black Books. "Blue Tunes".
Mocking the sitcom that mocks sitcoms.
@Spencer Proctor Father Len
Which sitcom would that be now?
@@Satellite_Of_Love * _BISHOP_ Len...

Maybe we will give him water.

DRANK !

Actually, the bet one to get 'em started is Kicking Bishop Brennan up the arse.

Agreed

Really appreciate the fact that Ted pronounced Rottweilers correctly. :D
Does anyone say it differently? I don't think I've heard any other way to say it
His Hiroshima is way off though.

Very "fawlty tower", this one. Love it.
Yes even the up top of the stairs , very much the same. possibly the same set used
Yes, it looks like the same set.

The look on Bishop Brennan's face at 22:58 is priceless.
22:11 Before Paranormal Activity there was Father Ted 😂😂😂😂😂😂 22:44 what a horrible nightmare 🤣🤣🤣

pity we never got an episode where Ted & Dougal had to exorcise an allegedly-haunted house or something of that nature

I sometimes want to show this to my little sister because of the bunnies. She'd certainly like seeing the bunnies.

Father Ted - Fawlty Towers and Keeping Up Appearances all brilliant-funny-first rate acting. In case any of you have missed them worth a look.
for me growing up, my childhood english sitcoms were Blackadder, Father Ted and Black Books.
Waiting For God is another sitcom that I can't recommend enough.

Tom, Jr's killer, should have had a larger part in the series...he isn't more insane than the rest of the lot...
He absolutely should have

This is one of those shows that I wish would have gone on indefinitely.
this is the best episode so far in father Ted, I laugh so hard there is tears coming out of my eye.
must be the idol from S1E3 that caused the rabbits to be fertile and multiply
Watching 'Pulp Fiction' again, and just realised that Thom's scene with the rabbit destroying weapon choice is directly from this movie! 🤣
Call him Flipper. Flipper the priest.

“Tom knows about this type of thing”.
I love the bunnies

Travis Walsh Mrs Doyle omg
Sort of, but I think the Watership Down element would have come out a lot more if those poor bunnies had been forced to stay with crazy Tom.
