    In this alligator fishing video we ventured into the blazing heat to a big river to try and catch some big fish. We arrived an hour after sunrise to try and get the morning bite and catch a big one before the heat took us down. Braving triple digit heat indexes we managed to catch an absolute river monster!

    What a beautiful fish, I'm looking forward to the near future when I have the equipment to catch my first gar but that may be a minute. It's also so hot nowadays that a few hours with just one water bottle isn't enough. Great video!

      Thanks! Good luck out there. But yes you need lots of water. I’ve had heat exhaustion twice this season. This heat is dangerous

    One of my buddies said his leader got broke off by a possible gar on crab. Do gar eat crab?

      @@rvotbeats Gar do eat crabs and can survive in fairly salty water as well. It's not uncommon to see them in the bays of the Gulf.

      @@rvotbeats yep, they are normally not their in large numbers but they do venture into the saltwater. They'll eat bait fish, crabs, birds, etc. They are opportunity feeders

    Is it possible the scale was set to kg? There’s no way that fish was under 100 haha

    • @BitesandStrikesFishing
      @BitesandStrikesFishing  10 месяцев назад

      We triple checked, it was on pounds.
      I generally catch 5’ gar with 25-28” girth so this was a pretty skinny girl.

      @reelingwithrobby 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@BitesandStrikesFishing that’s crazy. Yeah that thing was super skinny, I can pick up a 70lb dumbbell like nothing but some of the 6+ footers I’ve caught feel like double but granted they were fat as shit haha

      @@reelingwithrobby that’s one of the reasons I carry that weight bag. So I can get accurate weights. Everyone always just guesses but I like to know.
      That bag is actually for carp fishing 😂
      And the scale is for cranes and goes up to 600lbs
