Hi Katie and Greg, good to see you today. Katie, let me say that you impress me more each time I see you two working on the house. You have come so far, developing your skill set, gaining more confidence in yourself and your abilities and becoming more certain. You now work on your own with full confidence and it's impressive and a joy to see. You should be very proud of your growth and progress. Kudos for the editing on this vid, I'm guessing this was also you, Katie. Piecing together all the random clips took time and effort and I really appreciate it; it was very enjoyable to watch. I found Aspen and Junipers antics enjoyable. Aspen seems to still be trying to figure out some of Junipers activity, chasing the ball, but overall is comfortable and fitting right in. That goat sticking out it's top lip was quite humorous. The house is looking great and you two are making real progress despite the weather challenges. Have a safe and producting week ahead. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.

Hey Katie and Greg, happy New Year. Love all the videos especially all the landscapes and zoo-ific moments with your animals. I see you're keeping the chicken coop lit at night. That will help keep the egg production up. As for 'Bulldozer Joe'...you're missing a few things about operating an old 'Cat D3 or 4 with a pony motor'. Some of those units were produced with a battery and key switch to energize the fuel solenoid. Check. The battery must have juice and you need to turn on the key switch. The manual throttle lever in the operator's control area must be halfway open. The fuel shut-off cable to the injector pump must be fully pushed in to open the fuel flow to start. Check to see if the wire cable is actually connected to the injector pump and operating properly. It usually is located on the dash area...big green or red knob. To shut off the engine, it must be pulled all the way out to shut off the motor, all the way in to start it. When cranking over the motor, there must be foggy smoke coming out of the exhaust stack. That is the only way to determine if fuel is getting pumped through the injectors. If there is no smoke during cranking, you can use a little go-go juice, but not too much or the engine will lock up until it dissipates. The pony motor seems to be missing parts. I need to see better video of the operator's cabin. The belt seems too long and not wide enough. The operator pulls back on a lever, and the pony motor lifts about an inch to engage the belt to crank the diesel motor. There should be just enough slack for the belt to ride over the engine pulley after starting. If there is no chugging of smoke from the exhaust stack during starting, then the fuel injectors may have air in the lines from being run dry. Open the top nut on each injector until diesel fuel starts bubbling out at the connection point. Open and close each injector nut one at a time during cranking the engine after it bleeds all the air out with a show of solid fuel flow. Make sure you have sufficient fuel and oil in both motors....Duh! During storage, that unit should be tarped, and the exhaust stack needs to have an empty coffee can over to prevent water from going into the engine exhaust valves and freezing them open. Dumping a bottle of 'Marvels Mystery Oil' (red anti-seize oil') down the exhaust stack and letting it sit for a few weeks often unsticks the valves and lubricates the cylinder walls after a few cranks of the engine. Then stop and let it soak. Any residuals will find their way to the crankcase. Add a container of Mystery to the valve cover area quickly pouring it into the breather cap to flood the valve spring and lifter valley. I was successful to revitalize one sitting for 20 years. I still have it sitting behind the barn. Do more videos of the pony motor components and operator controls. I watch all your videos. Warn Katy that I may kidnap you to do all the carpentry and siding work on my home. Fabulous talents my friend. Thank you both for working more safely. I loved the deck work and finished siding. The animal barn turned out nicely. Katie....you're doing a nice job also. You guys get 5 stars for your videos. I am so envious of not being there off the grid.
Hollar back if you need more help on the bulldozer.
    Regards, Gwedo

It's all the little steps you take that still gets you to the finish line. Looking amazing guys!
I've heard that when they curl their lip like that it's how and what allows them to smell better. I've see horses do the same thing. When they
pass air in through their noses they pass it through their mouths also because they have additional "ofactory" (?) nerves to help them pick
up odors better in the upper lining of their mouths. ( Come to think about it I have also seen cats do the same thing.) I've seen male horses .;....
do it to pick up the scent of the fillies (female) to detect when they are ready to mate as an example.

One added note to 'Bulldozer Joe'. On that diesel engine is a fuel filter and water separator. Empty the bowl and change the filter. You will need model and serial number for a new one, or just flush it with fresh clean diesel fuel....the rubber sealing gaskets must be pliable and full circle to seal the fuel system. There is a big red knob on most fuel filters. Turn counterclockwise and begin pumping slowly to fill the filter. Then bleed the injectors one at a time while cranking the motor. It takes 2 people to do it. When finished filling the fuel filter, turn clockwise with the pumper all the way in to seal the system.

    Hi Katie and Greg
In regards to the first time spring freezing up. The solution may be to throughly excavate a hole around the spring and then build a small enclosure big enough to have a door that will allow winter access without having to dig under a snowbank to find it. Also part of the plan for a successful build is to insulate with at least 2 or 3 inches of blue foam . There is always heat coming out of the ground even in winter. All you have to do is block it from escaping with the insulation. Not rocket science, well within your building capabilities. Try to keep warm. Have a nice day. Back in the old days when my dad was a boy 1920's they use to have post in the ground to run from the barn to the house and during the winter put ropes from the barn to the house going through eyelits so they could make it out to the barn in the dark and snow i noticed how dark it was no outside lights and couldn't see the lights on in the barn!!!

Please Note: Your exact setup today is prone to potential failing if one ladder shoots out. Mine did at 14ft high but i had a soft pile of dirt to fall in.
