Some of the bristlecone pines in the park in CA are from the time of Noah and are still producing cones. Over 4000 years old. They are so beautiful, even after they die.

For those who don't know the difference between a stalactite and a stalagmite, the former hangs down from the top of a cave and the latter grows upwards from the floor.
A fun way to remember that is:
The C in stalactite stands for Ceiling.
The G in stalagmite stands for Ground.

Riley has such a sweet disposition and looking at Olivia I think she looks a lot like her momma. Hi Jack, Riley, and Olivia…..the lake is gorgeous. We have 1 here in WA that is also the same color. I was surprised to see another someplace else in the US. A 3,000+ year old tree……wow! Olivia’s smile was so big! She’s growing and changing so much. I have never wanted to travel anywhere other than the US and Alaska…..too many beautiful things to see and do. Thanks for taking us on your hike…..it’s gorgeous !

Seeing your beautiful family together warms my heart. I miss Ellie! But I understand, I am sure she is happy with your folks. I thought Redwoods were the oldest trees on the planet. I live in N Cal. I was not aware of those bristle cone pines.

What a lovely family hike and that lake was beautiful. How humbling to be around trees of that age, mind blowing and so interesting. Those trees on your climb were eerie Jack, but that climb was epic with breath taking views, made me think of the moon as so deserted apart from all the peaks. Have a great week x
