The Voskhod series, for obvious reasons, did not feature the crew ejecting and descended entirely on parachutes with Soyuz-style smooth landing retrorockets.

You're half right about the parachutes, Matt. The single cosmonaut in a Vostok capsule did indeed bail out after re-entry and prior to touchdown, but the multi-cosmonaut crews of Voskhod landed softly inside the capsule, which had retrorockets mounted on top to slow down before impact. So if that was a single kerbonaut escape pod, the lack of parachutes would be historical, but the multi-seat variant would land with parachutes and rockets.
matt, the russian/soviet capsules did came with parachutes, even the vostok had chutes. the reason why they ejected was because the decending speed with the chute fully open was about 10 meters per second, wich is enouch to injure the cosmonaut

from what I can remember the capsules did have parachutes because the recovery team pulled out the crew on stretchers so that they wouldn't be injured because of the gravity. also, the capsules came equipped with guns because they landed in the Siberian tundra and the Siberian bears and wolves wouldn't eat the crew if the recovery team couldn't find the capsule on time. and since the tundra is cold the capsule served as a shelter for the crew so they won't get frostbite or hypothermia. but hey I might be wrong correct me if I am. but I do agree that the cerbinauts wold jump out and parachute, heck I think they wouldn't use the capsule and just re-enter themselves and the parachutes would ruin the look of the capsule.
The whiskey bit is pretty clever. Hats off to you.
