This documentary is telling the story of child goddesses in Nepal.
Kumari is the living child goddess who represents the belief and faith of the Nepalese, some could be as young as 5 years old. Her blessing is considered auspicious by everyone, including the head of state, even in modern times.
Kumari's life is different from other girls due to the strict set of rules and regulations she must follow, for example, Her feet cannot touch the floor at any cost, she must not to speak to anyone, she is considered to be above all others, including her parents.
Once a Kumari reaches puberty, a whole new world outside of the temple awaits her and that’s when reality hits.
This episode has been filmed in December 2018.

Nothing alarming. No such issues raised by previous Kumaris ever. Also dark room is due to the traditional architecture of temples and houses in Nepal. Most of the interior of temples and houses are dark by design of Nepali traditional wooden windows which act like one way glass window

Gladly, it is not a problem as the priests are highly religious and the girls are considered goddess. Cases of priests exploiting kumaris is unexistant

But again community make efforts to re-introduce her into the society, i heard there are counselling sessions with former kumaris and all.

I was curious if there were any older Kumari. I figured maybe into their late teens possibly hid their cycle somehow. I was not expecting to see a grown woman though. You would think she would be venerated even more for lasting so long.

I may not understand this, but I respect it, and I believe it should be protected and allowed to proceed without hindrance. As long as no abuse in at least the most basic sense is not occurring, we have no right to disrupt it. Of course, part of allowing this religious practice to continue is to allow it to organically adapt and change as per the feedback of the former 'Kumaris' and other relevant individuals.

This may be way low on the scale of things, but if they can never go outside, their bone density must be awful once they're "normal" You've gotta have sunlight for your body to synthesize Vitamin D. 😕 Let's not mention the entire population knows when they start their periods! 🤦🏼‍♀️

People are to impatient and over assuming. Here we worship her as a god she is kept better then the king or any government official. If you don’t know the reason and importance of any culture don’t speak this is not a reality show its a cultural tradition where energy, time, belief and devotion is prioritized not stupidity.
