Hahahaha! Thank you Michael! I'm glad to inspire you back ;D The truth is that I've loved the challenge... I can't wait to try oaks and the ones I love the most.. plane trees... If only I had more time ;)
Even the great maker did not make better trees , I admit that I have no words and I do not know whether to change hobbies because my props are so miserable compare to your creation .!!! Take care Felis The Great :)
Hahaha! Thanks mate :) But... Noooooooooo!!! It was intended as inspiration!!! It's more about time and a little bit of patience, the leaf part was quite mechanical
Oh this is awesome! I’m about to remake a diy birch tree out of recycled materials so I jumped on RUclips for inspiration. This is perfect! Thanks for sharing this! I’ll post a video ones mine is done, and if it turns out anything like yours I’ll be pleased 🙂 I’ll make it a bit bigger though... wish me luck! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
@@CharlottaSophia Lol! Thank you Charlotta :) I'm glad you liked the birch tree vid. Though I prefer the plane tree one: ruclips.net/video/KfQ-42rhfw4/видео.html Good luck with your build!! Just subbed your channel ;)
Oh wow, they are sensational, I have some in my yard and you have nailed the look totally, such patience to go with sticking on leaf by leaf but completely worth the effort, they are wonderful, well done Felis 👍👍👍
Really love these birches! They look so real (I must know because there are a couple of birches right next to the haouse where I live) that they are a pleasure to the eye. Brilliant. As usual!!! Take care. :)
Damn...just so awesome mate, they are stunningly life-like! Just when I think you've reached the peak of modeling/artistic talents, you pull something new out of your bag of tricks! They took a long time to crate, but patience is a virtue. Cheers : )
Thanks my friend :) That's great praise coming from you! I know you know your trees and scales! There is a lot of work involved but it's quite mechanical; your awesome and exhaustive work on he corvette deck scares the birch out of me! On scales... as you probably know through Coen, those green-stuff punches are slightly overscaled but it can't hardly be appreciated on encompasing the dio scene with your bare eye, I'd say it must be a 1/25, but then, there are many varied species and leaves can even be rather big.. let's leave it as our artistic license ;) as somebody would say "it is what it is". They had to be young birches oherwise, those straight shapes and bigger trunk diameters would have turned the dio into a shelf-storage-nightmare. They are 38 cm tall and I think they are quite consistent with some young birch measures I've seen on real life. I certainly can tell you something now, I've loved the challenge and I can't wait building different varieties; A twisted oak might allow to make an older tree, that would be fun!
Ah yes scale... as we had our discussion last year it is often impractical to duplicate "scale" accurately. Your trees OTH represent 43.8 feet. Depending on the setting you could have easily gotten away with 25cm trees (young birch) = 29.2 feet, but then the leaves would have/may have been too large. Wrt stowage nightmare! I know where you are coming from when I wanted to do a dio on the Arden Forest which calls for 15-16" (38-40cm)trees. Then there is always ways to play with scale like Panzerman's bunker does with his looking boxes. That being said, they are huge as well. I've got a dead bonsai that I may use in my WWI dio, only if it will work. = an Oak tree. Nonetheless Daniel I would like to be younger and posses 1/2 your talent. Take a bow my friend, you deserve it e.g the German man sitting against a shell, all scratch built from clay. Whether you like it or not, that takes talent and "savoir faire" :)
Thank you Rich! You're toooo kind ;) The Arden Forest would surely be tough, I guess it's pinewood... I'm more tuned with the deciduous call ;D That oak project sounds good!
The trees look incredibly realistic. I don't think I've seen anything quite like them. Do you treat the big leaves with something before punching the small ones out, or do you just punch the leaves out as is? - Trevor
Thanks a lot mate ;) No especial treatment. I try to punch the leaf, aligning the big leaf with one of the real leaf's nerves, so it looks like the fake leaf has a nerve and a hem of it's own. They were just sprayed with matte varnish when the whole thing was finished.
trees looks absolutely outstanding!
Thanks a lot Mark ;)
DAMN!!!!!!! those are some kick ass trees!!!!! going to have to try that.
Thank you Eric :) Tree passion!!

Thanks a lot mate :) I've taken some liberties with the design... but since there are countless varieties of birches I'm happy with it
Some of the best scale trees I have seen.

There's quite an art to it, then. The results speak for themselves, of course :-) Truly awesome!
Thanks again Trevor ;)
