    Hi Joelle, about 5 years ago I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. After a long struggle, we realized that yes, meditation and Yoga helps, and once my depression was under control, all my fibro symptoms disappeared. I was so happy. End November last year I contacted covid, and ended up in hospital as I'm asthmatic. I was unable to breathe without additional oxygen. I had such bad rash and body aches! I did get better, thank goodness, the rash went away too... Sadly, the body pains remained and have been driving me insane. The doctor says that I now have covid myalgia. The subscription meds are not working, doctors are still trying to figure out exactly how to treat it. Every person responds differently... So here I am again, meditating and doing yoga, when I found your 10 min and then this 20 min yoga sessions for fibro. I've been doing this 20 min session 2x daily... Please make more sessions for chronic pain! Love your style. Beaulah

    Well, every day that I do this yoga, I have a better night's sleep. I don't sleep well normally due to Fibro, Chronic Fatigue, Interstitial Cystitis, plus recovering from a difficult appendix surgery months ago. (for whatever reason I have been resisting the yoga stuff my rheumatologist was pushing for the last few years. Thankfully, I finally *caved*) . Bonus points: if I want the treat of yoga, I gotta quickly sweep the floor - my house is now cleaner! Hurrah! Thanks for the many choices you offer, Joelle. It's been fun exploring your channel.

    I was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia and this sequence was so helpful for me. I have a hard time with mindfulness with the chronic pain, but this sequence and your calm guidance really helped me become present in my body. I was able to simply notice which stretches were more tender than others, which parts of my body felt tighter than others today, and let it be, breathing into the stretches. I would love more of these videos, and look forward to incorporating this into my self-care routine. Thank you so much Joelle!

    I was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I used to love exercise because of the way that it makes me feel, but have been very limited in my exercise due to pain. I was told that stretching and yoga were great exercises to alleviate fibro pain so I began hunting for exercises specifically for fibromyalgia. Although I seem very stiff right now (first time in a long time to stretch), these exercises felt great and seemed to alleviate the pain I was experiencing... especially in my hips and lower back. Thank you!!! Great video!!

    Hi Joelle, I've been using a number of your sequences recently to help with chronic pain and was wondering if you had any practices for chronic pain that took into account hypermobility. I have heard that some stretching and yoga can set off flares if you also have hypermobility so was wondering if you had anything specific to that :) Thank you so much.

    • @YogawithJoelle
      @YogawithJoelle  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hi there, I'm afraid not! I'm not hypermobile myself, but some general advice is to keep a very slight bend in your joints where possible. So long as you're not bearing excessive weight on your joints, Yin yoga can be a lovely practice for many people, especially if you can balance it with some strength work. So most of the chronic pain practices on my channel should be adaptable to hypermobility, but of course if you're unsure about specific poses feel free to leave me a comment and I'll see if I can help with any specific guidance!

    I found out 2 weeks ago I have lupus and fibromyalgia,more the second one the the first. After so many yrs without being sick, no fevers (ever) it came down to this.... I'm still mad and unwelcoming to it. 1yr ago I was lifting weights and going to the gym :( today I could barely touch my toes without pain. I'm thankful I found this video, I know things will get better.

      Thanks for sharing your story Liz. I understand that this can be so frustrating, and I love your attitude about knowing things will get better - that's exactly the way we should all be thinking! I have a few other videos on fibromyalgia (ruclips.net/video/-aTKGnewstI/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/ZujgWC7JbUA/видео.html), as well as a whole 7-day series of Yoga for Fibromyalgia (www.udemy.com/course/yoga-for-fibromyalgia/?couponCode=8DFC34B0731FCC006CF9) in case you haven't tried them already. • @YogawithJoelle
      @YogawithJoelle  3 года назад

      Good questions, Susie. One option is to try putting your fists to the mat instead of flat palms, or you can try holding something instead of flattening the palm (I'm found that handweights work particularly well for this). I would also recommend building up some wrist strength - you might like to try my wrist pain sequence (ruclips.net/video/mxnFc-bDJQc/видео.html), which doesn't place any weight on the wrists, to see what may feel best and helpful for your situation. I hope that helps!!
