I’m a woman and I really want to get into Bible journaling but I’m not a doodler at all! I do not really want to color or draw, I primarily want to learn and take notes. Chill but deep. Glad to know others are with me in that. 😂

I am fairly new to bible studying but have been dipping my toes in the bible for a few years via devotionals...that's where multiple bibles come in. I have a bible for each of the devotionals that I go through and a catch all for misc devotionals. I have a bible (The big Illustrating Bible full bible version) that I use for all my Jesus Calling entries and creative art. I have a bible where I write in my Pastor's sermons...one where I write prayers...just this year I got one where I write in long study notes (interleaved)...I have a weight/food themed bible for all the devotionals out there about that since that is a big part of my life....I have more, but I think you get it. I have lots. I am one of those people that needs to compartmentalize things. I also have to have separate planners for work, personal, health etc. Everything in its place and a place for everything. I have The Jesus Bible for when I do my deep Jesus study (maybe next year). I really enjoy knowing what I'm going to find when I pull a bible off my shelf instead of a mish mosh of everything in one place...my brain can't handle that. Ok, longest comment ever award goes to...

Thanks. I'm kinda addicted to the Crossway Scripture Journal because there's so much room.. I'm making a watercolour each Sunday for the Song of Songs----yup, I'm a dude who likes colouring books----but those margins with the four gospels in one book is a real temptation. Also, I'm starting some sort of new job called 'urban chaplain' which I have to make up as I go, and I think the focus/method of operation will be to try to encourage folk to look at the world in the light of the gospel--and there's the preaching of Jesus at the middle of everything. Alas/hooray, I have moved into a new place with much more space and you're perhaps a bad influence on my tendency to buy more books.

Hey Chad, I use an ESV Psalms Scripture Journal to teach the Psalms, and I use an ESV Artist Series Journaling Bible to keep track of what I've preached and when, along with opening Scripture readings and such.
That Dayspring Journaling Bible has amazing margins! That alone makes it very cool.
    Thanks for the cool content.

Two years back I picked up a cheaper bible for a similar reason. It wasn't made for journaling or anything but it allowed me to highlight key people/verbs/words in a passage that I was studying. I don't do that _as_ much now as I have the Crossway Digital Scripture Journal so I can mark it up on my iPad. I find the fact that it is just a PDF helps me get over the fear of the thought "what if it's not a big theme" (And sometimes it's not) as I start to go through a passage . It's based on the ESV so I can understand some issues there but there's the remarkable bible which is a free alternative based on an updated ASV (if my memory serves me correctly) so It probably has other translation issues! I'd love for more companies to come out with digital scripture journals in other translations.

I just recently saw this blog and I am now purchasing a journaling Bible to use as my church bible to take notes in during my Pastor's message. I think it would be a great way to use as a reference since he usually will really highlight a few verses only each week. Love your suggestion on journaling Bible! Thank you for the great information. I am enjoying your channel since finding it!

I’m always afraid of ruining my Bible. The suggestion of using inexpensive ones or the books by themselves for different studies is a great idea. I like the idea of using them later as reference material. The Bible given to me when I was 12 can be saved as a sentimental keepsake and I don’t have to worry about it ruining it with all the study notes. Thank you

The only issue that I have with the full bible edition of the Dayspring bible is that the font in much smaller than the Gospel Edition one is. The Gospel one has a great size font, but the full version is much much smaller than that.

My favorite bible for tearing up is the interleaved ones I believe they have an ESV and NKJV might be an option for copious amount of notes 😏 I'm not really a study notes kind of person but I will write out things He has shown me or things that are in need of addressing in my walk not so much prayers but I have a few 😬

And the Turkey Buzzard is the nickname I have to my hardback cambridge wide margin. The high-end leather versions are called "The Eagle" in the Bible Community...but my chunky hardback isn't nearly as elegant.

Hi Chad, I would love to hear your opinion on the new Berean study bible translation? It has no copyright issues and can be printed in a few different formats including I think single column. If the translation is solid it would make a great option for making a customised journaling bibles. With as much journaling space as you need. A trip to the office supply store could have it spiral bound.

    • @revchadbrooks

The BSB is an amazing and very accurate translation. I have it and it quickly became my favorite. All names of Godhead are capitalized, including the pronouns. It is very much like the NIV 84 and I also get the feel of some NKJ and NASB within the BSB. I HIGHLY recommend the BSB. If it can actually be printed in single column, I’d like to print it and make it my own.

You tube suggested this when I was looking for reviews of the spiral bible. Had to stop and opt out when this pastor said "I believe Pastors can be men and women". But the bible is clear about that. As a women I have no issue that God's word says, "women can not" be pastors. Please folks study the Jewish roots of scripture. Highly recommend Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum. He digs into the Hebrew and Greek. If more christians studied the Jewish roots of christianity we would be able to avoid so many of these errors.

The NIV is missing 55,000 words and has been revised more than 4 times.
Cheap is a great word for the NIV.
