Hhhhmmm did I say the word "kit" enough times? 🤪 Haha. Hope you guys enjoy this one, not my normal video but I have a cool bushcraft camp to share with you on Saturday! Cheers.
nice kit all you have to add is an old army ground sheet and you are set / you roll your poncho in the ground sheet and it still is small and keeps you out of the dirt
Good pack. I may would add some stuff for this: - a whistle - a signal mirror - some glowsticks - an extra flashlight (AA sized if size and weight matters with an 14500 battery plus a pack of AA alkaline battery). - Convoy T3 is a great one. - an extra pair of dry socks in a sealed plastic bag - paper tissue - insect repellent - paper to write on, a pen and a local tour map - some energie bars - ??? did I missed something?
Great kit. Well thought out. Everything you’re going to need. Nothing you don’t. If i might add a suggestion. A heavy duty 55 gallon contractor trash bag is just so versatile and compact and light… it’s something I will always carry. You can use it to store massive amounts of water by digging a hole in the ground a lining it with the bag (theoretically 55 gallons worth lol). Filled with debris to create a mattress. Cut the top and sides and it makes an impromptu rain poncho. Waterproofing gear. If you get an obnoxious blue color it can be used to signal in any climate or place. From coniferous forests, deciduous, desert, snow. Ground sheet. Waterproof shelter material. Stuffed with grasses for a flotation device. Collecting ants or rain for water. Carrying things santa clause style. Sledding down snow covered hills as a slick sled. Great video.
A tip for the clip modification. I noticed, that the female clips on the bag have a slot in the middle, so that you can make it loose without any fuss. You can saw the same slot in the male clip, then the whole mod is without sewing.
That’s a great Grab & Go kit! Well done in making smart mods. If you haven’t reinforced the shoulder strap yet, perhaps a chunky piece of leather could be made to match the Tracker’s sheath quality. Otherwise I would just use a couple of bandanas for padding and secure them with safety pins and call it done!
Thanks TJ. There were quite a few takes for some of the shots haha, I wanted to make sure everything made sense and came across well. My sewing isn't the best but it does the job! Haha, just don't look too closely 😅. Thanks alot bro.
Hey mate, great video! Clear and to the point. I love the mods to the carry strap/"hip belt" and on the bottom of the bag! And yes, just like @MarkMcCartney said, THIS should be the original kit and Helikon would be smart to get your ideas on board! How did you do the sewing? Especially clean work on the belt. Also, what brand are your pants (if you don't mind sharing?). Cheers!
Thanks mate! Yeah I'm super happy with my mods. I just hand sewed everything, I wouldn't look too closely haha it's not the prettiest. My pants are the hunter element downpour elite. Thank you for the kind words! Cheers
Great video! I have the same bag and have ordered a similar small pouch to attach to the front after seeing yours. The male female swap on the shoulder strap is really clever. Did you sew the webbing on the bottom by hand? I’ve got a sewing machine but can’t figure out how I would sew the webbing on the bottom with the bag assembled. Cheers.
Thanks Dag! I hope the extra pouch works out for you, I think its a very handy addition to the bag. The clip swap was something I had wanted to do since I got the bag, it just makes more sense to me, I really think they should just come like that, I don't see any downsides to it. Yup I sewed the webbing by hand, it's not the prettiest and it took me quite a while but it seems to be holding up well so far. Personally I think the bag should also ship with attachment points on the bottom, I think it would appeal to alot more people if they did. Thanks for watching and I'm glad you got something out of it. Cheers.
Hello! Great question, I should have touched on it in the video but I mostly keep some snacks/food in the top of the main pouch, and rolled up in my poncho. Thanks for the comment!
Hi, new subscriber here... Great kit . I do think a maxpedition falcon 2 Would be a better option .not huge, but MASSIVELY more versatile and much larger capacity. You're obviously very knowledgeable and I'm probably advocating the maxpedition falcon because my skills aren't good enough to manage survival with a tiny kit . But I'm always striving to improve . Kind regards from England.
Great post BK! Ingenious mods. One sees the thought that went into it all. Question: Is one canteen of water enough for an overnight in your environment? Cheers.
Heya Rick. Thanks for the comment. A Canteen of water is enough but it depends on a bunch of factors like how far I hiked, if I'm having a fire, and how messy my cooking is haha. I can always boil more water if need be, but I might add some water purification tablets into the kit. Cheers.
Great video man! Thanks for uploading it. I'm a little color blinded, what color is your Helikon-tex essential kitbag exactly? Adaptive green, olive green or which one?
Great video. I just ordered one of these and now I'm looking for ideas on how to best put it to use when it arrives haha. Do you know if the bag will ride/carry as a hip belt? Over the clothes to where it can ride like a butt pack and then slung around to the front when needed? (Does that make sense?)
Thanks! Yeah it will definitely work as a butt pack, you might want some sort of suspender system, especially if it is fully loaded. But it should work well. Cheers!
Heya Jet. Thanks for the support bro. If you want a 3x3 tarp (or bigger) I'd recommend taking a look at a DD hammocks tarp. Well made and has heaps of tie out points. If you want something smaller then you could go the route of a poncho, like mine, or take a look at army surplus bashas/hootchies. Hope that helps! Cheers.
I have the same helikon tex bag like you. something small that i don't like about this bag is as soon as i put it on and the bag should be behind my back if possible, it slowly slips forward or to the side and that's annoying. so i attached another belt so that the bag sits tight behind my back.
Hhhhmmm did I say the word "kit" enough times? 🤪 Haha.
Hope you guys enjoy this one, not my normal video but I have a cool bushcraft camp to share with you on Saturday!
Cheers.
Looking forward to Saturday!
Awesome bro!!! Chur😊🤘
Did you say Kit? I didn't Notice.🤣🤣🤣🤣👊
Your mod to the shoulder strap is pure genius!
I appreciate it!
You really need to get in touch with Helikon and share your ideas with them. I'd buy your modified kit bag without hesitation 👍
I appreciate that thanks man, I might have to.
Cheers!
I think we need to reach out for him…he’s got some good content. Smart guy, and I’d buy his mods, too💥💥
Very comprehensive. I’ve watched probably a couple thousand similar videos, and this kit is really quite excellent
Thank you for the kind words!
Excellent job! Im very impressed at the capabilities stuffed in such a minimal kit!
Love how you rigged the knife onto the belt 👌🏼
Thank you!
That’s a great little kit, really like the modifications that you’ve made.
Thanks Tim!
nice kit all you have to add is an old army ground sheet and you are set / you roll your poncho in the ground sheet and it still is small and keeps you out of the dirt
Yeah, would be a good addition.
Thanks for watching!

Thank you! A trash bag would be a great addition! I'll have to add one.

Nice kit, Bro! I♥️your modification! Greating from Hungary!

Great idea with the male/female clips!!! I`ll do the same!!
Awesome! So glad to hear that. I hope it works well for you
Very organized kit and great enhancements to it, you are super clever I love it, makes for interesting videos 👍🏼
Thanks Jeanette!

Ah I hadn't considered that. I will look into it.
Thanks heaps
beautiful tracker
Cheers mate. It's my favorite knife.
Nicely done. I might add a Silky Pocketboy folding saw.
A great addition!
Thanks!
I've been eyeing this pack for a while as a day pack. Your review just convinced me to pull the trigger on it. Great work.
I'm glad I could help. I hope you like it!
Cheers
Great kit! Have you considered maybe adding a sawyer water filter?
Yeah man, I normally carry a filter for my tramping trips, this kit is more skills focused so boiling water would be how I purify it.
Cheers
I love the mods bro. Great video. 👍
@@BIGMINION502 thank you!

Great gear setup very simple and logical. With skill that's all you'll ever need. But you can definitely fit string jerkey that what I carry.

Good morning from the Great State of Texas. Very informative video. But I must ask, where do you carry your food/snacks?
Hello! Great question, I should have touched on it in the video but I mostly keep some snacks/food in the top of the main pouch, and rolled up in my poncho.

Real, compacto, muy util y sobre todo muy inteligente.
Gracias y salud y saludos.
Good day, friend, please tell me how you sewed the straps on the bottom of the bag for attaching the awning???
I hand sewed them on! Not the easiest and my sewing isn't the best but they have held up fine!

Thanks Stuart, glad you liked it.
Unfortunately the bcb stove doesn't fit in the front pocket.

hi mate, any recommendation what tarp to get? cheers!!!!
another great and inspiring video!
Heya Jet.
Thanks for the support bro.

Well presented, clever mods, what’s the pack weight?
Thank you Dave.
I'm not sure on the weight but I will get back to you on that.

Hi, I am also in NZ, where did you buy your bank-line from? I can only find it on Amazon but would rather buy it in country.
Yeah I had to get it from Amazon unfortunately. Impossible to find in New Zealand it seems
What poncho is that comes with stakes
It's the helikon tex poncho. The stakes aren't included.
Cheers!
Hey bro how do u like / find your titanuim canteen set ? They very light mine turned up in mail today
Love it mate. Nice and lightweight but super durable and bombproof. No complaints.
Cheers!
What color is this bag?
This one is the adaptive green.
Cheers!
Arkansas is pronounced Arkan-saw fyi
Ah yeah sorry about that 😅 I do know that but I might not have, or slipped up at the time.
Cheers
I have the same helikon tex bag like you. something small that i don't like about this bag is as soon as i put it on and the bag should be behind my back if possible, it slowly slips forward or to the side and that's annoying. so i attached another belt so that the bag sits tight behind my back.
