I got this pack and as an older female with back issues I can tell you it made a huge difference in my comfort out on a day hike. Enough room for the essentials, weight distribution that keeps my back happy and the durability I require in all my gear. I highly recommend this to anyone with low back problems.
Nice pack Cpl. Kelly, I got the old school LBE set up been using it for a long , long time . Hasn’t failed me yet , good stuff. Have a good day marine !
There's something about this video ... a Dove in the background chanting peace and you in the foreground showing me ways to survive if no one listens to the dove ... unintentional poetry. As frequently heard, outstanding!
Love the straight forward approach to these reviews. Save the fluff for the entertainment wanna be bushcrafters! This pack looks amazing, a very functional pack that can carry what you need! Price tag is about average . Thank you for taking the time to deliver us another good clean video. 👍 Cheers from Canada Shawn
This is not reflected upon this particular video. I think your channel is outstanding informative and knowledgeable. I am 55 years of age and I took all this Bushcraft back when I was a young man in Boy Scouts and have forgotten like everything. Your channel is quick fast and in a hurry meat and potatoes baby easy to understand and remember those lost skills from days gone past. You of gained a faceful subscriber keep up the great work. 😉👍👌✊👊
Excellent video about a seemingly awesome piece of kit. Lots of options to arrange the necessities and the "just in case" stuff. I always enjoy your videos. Thank you for your efforts.
Just like the Tailor in John Wick 2 when he goes shopping, can't get much better than that. This is a good addition to have along with a B.O..B. or survival back pack. In the Going Home Series by A. American the hero had a huge pack, being 6'6" himself, he should have had this as a back up too.
Thanks for this review. I saw this on the Helikon website and thought it would be a great piece of gear. It looks smaller than I thought it would be, but it'll hold everything very nicely, as you just proved.
This is a great pack. I received mine about 2-3 months ago and it has really done the job for me. I am in Florida and being 76 and love to day hike I have to make sure I have plenty of water with me, with the 2 pouches on the side I can carry all I need and have a very balanced load. The over the shoulder bags were giving me back problems with Fox Trot I have a very pain free hike. Plus with all of the other storage I can carry my 5c’s very comfortably.
This setup looks comparable to the Maxpedition DevilDog, which has been discontinued for many years now. Glad someone is making something comparable! This system looks great. Great review, as always.
Watched this and bought one. I use it for SAR assignments especially for tracking. I beat the crap out of it for three years and its holding up strong. One of my best pieces of kit. They could improve the waist belt adjustment, but that's my only bitch. I take it everywhere, highly recommend it.
I really like this design. I have not seen it before. It looks like it would be a nice substitute for a small sling pack. Looks like it would be comfortable on a hike. Thanks for the review and the scenes from your hike.
GLAD YOU SHOWED......the Grayle and 40oz water bottle in the pockets. I live in the N.Y. Adirondack Mtns and water is everywhere cricks/springs/ponds/lakes. So I run with my Grayle and SS Stanley single wall Bottle. These bottle pockets don't look deep enough on the "website photos".....but....your photo and showing it being worn confirms they are "good to go." Thank you.
Cpl. thanks for the review. I'll take the old school military setup any day, everyday. This setup is modern cute, but man if you were carrying mags, bayonet, pistol, etc. it ain't going to cut if.
Great review. The lack of a shoulder harness is the downfall of most waist packs. This one looks great. I like the fact that you can add your own small pouches to the molle to expand capacity. Also, for folks wondering about the benefit of these types of packs they do not retain heat next to your back o hot days like a backpack does.
Helikon makes good quality gear. I ordered the Swagman Roll Poncho Liner, although I may not need it for several months here in So Cal. but can’t wait for it to arrive. I will order the MK2 "H" Harness by Helikon next. I like the video. Glad you show what gear you are using in this system. Helps seal the deal for me.
Holy Foxtrot ! ...so capable ....love the straps on the bottom and the big double side pockets.... I thought you were going to pull a can of ‘Chili Mac’ out for sure.
Love your simplicity for essentials. I recently got the MountainSmith Tour Lumbar Pack. I have a hard time with our day hikes to carry smaller shoulder packs so I am hopeful the lumbar style will be my fit! The MSTLP looks to be similar in size and quality as this one in your video. Only thing I would say is that it could use molly webbing on the empty side of this hip belt. I enjoy your videos! Thanks for sharing!
I ran into the same issue as you, I have back and shoulder issues so regular backpack style hydration packs bother me on long day hikes. I went with a Wingnutgear lumbar hydration pack a couple years ago and it has been awesome. I've done 20 mile day hikes with it with no issues. If it wears out I will buy another one just like it.
@@davem4193 Cool! I'll have to look that one up! I'm good with the double bottle holders as hydration packs are not my go to anyways. I tried several small packs and finally realized the issue. As we hiked Yosemite NP this summer and there I was carrying my full size pack all synched in for day hikes. LOL.
@@janetstarr9554 yep I used to do that too! I think they make small lumbar packs too with just the bottle holders. What I like is they are very lightweight. Mine weighs less than a pound empty and it's a full 3 liter hydration pack.
The harness is great. The bag... is small. I moved the harness to a MountainSmith tour 9L Lumbarpack. I have all the room I need for an entire weekend now. Couldn’t be happier.
G'day Corporal. Here in Australia's east coast , grassy head , nsw. Got first eyes on your excellent channel last week. Well done. I've lived on the land all my life and get a real kick out of your practical bush exercises. Truly ' outstanding '. I'm a remote area fire fighter and I'm picking up some great tips from you 🤙🔥and will be passing that on to my team . Also a father of four and farmer. Congratulations again on your fine channel. Tell us about some awesome boots at some stage (if you haven't already )
Great episode, handy pack. I like it for day-fishing while exploring around water-banks. Plenty of room for tackle, lunch, tools, drinks; plus it won't get into your shoulders' or waist's range of motion for casting and playing fish. Looks like you can even sit with it on. Lower hip-level center of gravity is nice, too, since fishing already spends upper body energy. Sweet kit; I'll seriously consider that next time around. Thanks for all you do to find the most practical gears and techniques for us to add to our options!
Yeah by the way, I got me one of those Mk2’s. I use it as my level one day kit. Meaning I expect to be out of the woods by nightfall. But I have enough to stay the night on emergency. So in the pack I have an emergency blanket, the reflective kind. Also I have a 5x7 piece of tyvek that I have installed grommets. It could be used as a ground cloth. Also a 55 gallon drum liner to make a litter bed. Which I learned from you Corporal. Semper Fi.
Bought one a few months ago it is awesome you can fit a ton of stuff in it. You can actually fit at least a 5 x 7 tarp to the bottom. I think mine is 8 x 10
When I see a thumbnail saying I NEED something I don’t click.... it’s click bait. But when corporal Kelly says it.... I’ll check it out. You’re the real deal man.
After watching the vid, yeah this is sweet. I have a couple duty belts. One for bushcraft and one for firearm drills. This here would be ideal for either. I’ll start with one I think for now. This is the perfect companion for my PLA paratroopers ruck. I’m not a fan of cordura fabric(rather take the old milsurp heavy canvas) but hey I’m also not one to complain aboot a sick piece of kit 😃
Punisher, it's a go! Keep up this good work, sir. This belt rig reminds me of times gone by when I would tote an SLR, though suspended only by shoulder strap. Otherwise my main bag has always been a surplus large NATO rucksack, but it's been taken out of service for having a 3-thread shoulder strap. Once I'm done with this cancer caretaking gig at home I'll hit the trail to recharge my batteries and will certainly be putting some of your tips to use, even if I am camping out of a small truck. Thank you. Peace.
Have to admit while I was watching yet another fine product from Helikon- Tex I had to fire up a second tablet to look up their catalog while watching this demo...thank again corperal.. nice stuff, can't wait to get me some !!!
Looks like a good minimal overnight bag. Concern is with the two bottle pouches though. A lot of bottle is sitting high with minimum load security. 1. Stainless water bottles very reflective in sunlight. 2. Not much securing full bottle in place when running, climbing etc. A cord and Velcro system such as Maxpedition Jumbo would be ideal. But hey, what the heck, part of the fun is personal modification. Besides I'm enthralled with this channel and your content Corp. Keep em coming.
After wearing my kit on my chest for years I discovered battle belts and I became a believer. I currently have my canteen (yes, I prefer it over a camel back) and a large utility pouch on the back, just like this setup. Looks great. 👍
Good design and functional but I'd have to leave it home bowhunting due to the velcro closure. Keep the videos coming... very informative and you do a great job putting them together ... just built the pocket fishing kit and it works perfectly 👍
Dan Rundell I picked up some Velcro sheets and cut them to size to put between the Velcro on my bags so I can still be stealthy and I can just take the Velcro off the Velcro whenever it’s not necessary lol does that make sense 😀 incidentally I had a cat named Velcro for 18 years 😂
I know you dont answer everything, but me and my son watch you all the time. I was wondering if you were hit with a war torn, survival in the woods scenario, what military pack would you choose?
I've been using mine for a few weeks now...I'm loving it. I attach my USGI poncho on the bottom like you and have woven a cotton schmauge into the top bungee. A pathfinder cup can be fitted into the side pocket as well..its tight but it will go..
You could always attach a frame to it then use it as a backpack. I tied on a tarp, wool blanket with extra camp tools and a book wrapped up. It did very well.
I found a kit that was better than our deuce gear, but inspired by it... the SADF pattern 70 kit. The bad part, is that it's canvas... and soaks up water! That's about the only bad! You can carry 21 mags of 7.62x51! 400+ rounds gets heavy, but... as you know, that weight is reassuring, knowing you have it!
I've 200 miles on this pack. The Mk 3 needs big improvements: -Longer bedroll straps (can't fit my Swagman!!!). -Better shoulder padding. -Larger Buttpack. -More molle on shoulders and belt.
I like this rig. It would be good for me to carry while rebuilding my strength instead of hauling a 50lb back pack starting out again. 💪🙂 Thanks Corporal 🇺🇸👍
Got mine in the mail directly from Polland. Packed up and ready for a day hike this weekend. I was disappointed it didnt come with the helicon tex patch, other than that it seems "outstanding"
First of all, I'd like to thank you for your time. I love your "how to" videos and your gear reviews. Please keep them coming. For the price, this isn't a bad piece of equipment, definitely budget friendly, but in my honest opinion, I think the old school web gear, is the way to go. It is more expensive, but in the long run, well worth it. You'd have to rip mine off my cold dead body lol.
David Tarwater I put together a LC-2 with a butt pack and two canteens. Also added the condor padded belt. Very comfortable to wear. Great for day hikes. I think CC did an older video on this setup.
Feel like a 5yr old sneaking a cookie out of the cookie jar.....and I'm 60yrs Old. Wants and Needs, this is pretty nice setup. My wife's gonna say, "You bought something else again." I'll just blame it you and say, "The Corporall ordered me too !!!"
Have the same pack as part of my SAR system. Just so you know the Hidden Woodsman day ruck rides just above it. At least it does for me. Gives me the option of leaving my sleep system in the day ruck behind if not needed on a particular search. Basic gear(5 C’s) stay in the Foxtrot. Sleep system in the Woodsman. Solid review.
jadehelm288 0 If the park is short enough yes. I can also attach my Day Ruck to the Foxtrot. With that configuration the Foxtrot will work as a hip belt. I like that my system is modular.
Nice overview video. Looks like the perfect pack for day hiking and a good price. Unfortunately the velcro on the front pocket would drive me nuts. For one notch up in features and capacity, I would also suggest the Mountainsmith Tour pack.
Mine came in the mail yesterday, and man is it one awesome piece of kit! I've got the 10 C's from my Condor H harness plus some, and it's smaller and way lighter. The construction is flawless, this thing will last a long time. I've already had it out on a few mile hike and it performed great. Helikon-Tex seems to have some really bomb proof gear and for a reasonable price. I definitely want to get an insert for the Foxtrot and the E&E pouch to replace the Condor pouch I have on its PALS webbing now. If I didn't already have the Snugpak Inhanced Patrol and Liner, I would pick up a Swagman Roll too. Helikon-Tex is a company to keep an eye on! I will be doing a head to head video of the Foxtrot vs the Condor H harness vs my old school 782 rig if anyone is interested once I put the Foxtrot throne it's paces some.
Depending on how flexible the material is, you should see if Heli-kon will produce a bushpot that is stamped to slide inside like a pack basket. Also, how well does the swagman roll and a small hammock fit in there?
Hello my outdoors friend, thank you for sharing this very informative video. I like the kit. It's a great way to carry all the essentials. Take care and be safe out there. 🤗
Really great piece of kit. I have the day ruck scout from Hidden Woodsman and his haversack plus the Pathfinder water bottle carrier, but the ruck can be more than I need and the water carrier and haversack shift when bending over or moving fast. This might be a good compromise.
As much as i hated the 'Butt Pack' when i was in the forces, over the years ive really started to miss the practicality of it. I just found this and am ecstatic Helikon has modernized it. Definately on my list of kit to buy in the new year. Thanks for the review.
Purchased this one a long time ago. I've added a Tasmanian Tiger hydration sleeve to the back straps to double up on the capacity. I use this setup regularly for a lightweight day hike or overnighted kit. Mobile AF...
Thanks for the tip on a pouch. 👍 Btw their TT MODULAR HIP BAG 3 looks very much loke this rig minus harness. It does have attachment point for it though.
Nice looking upgrade. Glad I bought a full set of webgear with buttpack and large alice pack back when they were cheap. If you are looking for used military gear head to the nearest town to a military base. Surplus stores sell good stuff. You might have to dig through boxes but thats the fun part.
Looks like a tactical lunch box with harness but without the cooler insulation. Nice piece of kit really like the easy to use bottom straps for blanket or tarp. A lot less complicated than the pathfinder system. Would probably change out Grail water system for stanley 24 oz cup with msr stove and gas bottlle inside it. As always Corp great stuff

Try to add more Helikon-TEX stuff to your Amazon influencer page.

That's hot. I want one. Helikon is killing it.
Sold out everywhere from every website. Awesome review bro. You did such a good job it's all gone everywhere. Lol
I checked your Amazon page to get one.
Are they currently sold out?
Ladies and gentlemen, introducing the next piece of gear I don’t need but really want.
Agreed.
Boy, could not have said it better!
Yea I’ll probably put spare diapers in one side, wipes in the other. Maybe some muesli bars and charge around the park.
Never lose the TV remote again! 🤣👍

I've been looking for something like your Y harness ever since I saw it in your video. This is outstanding
I loved your older videos reviews I could trust
I like how calling a fanny pack a "Foxtrot MK2 Belt Rig Suspension Harness" makes it tactical.

-Longer bedroll straps (can't fit my Swagman!!!).
-Better shoulder padding.
-Larger Buttpack.
-More molle on shoulders and belt.
What about a battle belt with straps?
@@jamestheeggplant5446 The belt on this isn't detachable.
I was disappointed it didnt come with the helicon tex patch, other than that it seems "outstanding"
sold separately. Thanks for watching
Looks like a fine piece of kit. A great little day pack, with the military style poncho underneath.
I finally got my hands on one! It’s my new day kit and and I’m very happy with it. Thanks CC.
At work right now my friend I shall watch this later on tonight
Its Nice to see the civilian market get it right!
I Def want one!!
Hello my outdoors friend, thank you for sharing this very informative video. I like the kit. It's a great way to carry all the essentials. Take care and be safe out there. 🤗
I really like this pack!! Kinda wish the pack was a bit bigger, but really great bag!
Might try it out. Thank you, Brother.
I was thinking of making an emergency hiking pack/setup and using this as part of it.
Very nice. Appreciate the sharp knife hand in the intro.🤚🇺🇸🤚
Mobile AF...
your set up is perfect for a modular lightweight weekend hike.
Thanks for the tip on a pouch. 👍
Btw their TT MODULAR HIP BAG 3 looks very much loke this rig minus harness. It does have attachment point for it though.
I'm already interested and gonna get it.
I love the quail in the background hollering about the state in.
Nice looking upgrade.
Glad I bought a full set of webgear with buttpack and large alice pack back when they were cheap.
If you are looking for used military gear head to the nearest town to a military base.
Surplus stores sell good stuff. You might have to dig through boxes but thats the fun part.
That really is a somewhat of a military grade hip belt bag
Not bad at all I could see using this on a couple small day hikes
Looks like a tactical lunch box with harness but without the cooler insulation. Nice piece of kit really like the easy to use bottom straps for blanket or tarp. A lot less complicated than the pathfinder system. Would probably change out Grail water system for stanley 24 oz cup with msr stove and gas bottlle inside it. As always Corp great stuff
Love the gear videos! No nonsense and field tested!
I was just looking at this item two days ago on your Amazon page. Great review.
I think that might actually fill a gap in a kit where my SRO Adventure Trail Pro bag didn't quite work as I wanted. 🤔👍
Thank you for a nother awesome viedo keep up the awesome job
Same as my H harness web gear since the early 70'S.
