If only out for a day, its easier to bring a thermo flask with warm coffee and and some toast with ham and cheese. No need for a hot meal on a day hike.😉 I agree that the bag is greate. I like your videos, keep on the good work.👍🏻😀
The bag is nice, but hey... Probly the most realistic dayhike kit I've found on RUclips. Im surprised you didn't throw in there four lighters, six whistles, five different knives, three compasses, an axe, a chainsaw, and why not a bear trap in case you get hungry! Thumbs up for your kit man! Carry only the essentials it's essential!
I love this bag. Extremely high quality. Excellent day hike bag and possibly an overnight if you use the right poncho and hate yourself. I take it with me camping and pair it with my main pack.
Let's see. I have a Pathfinder Canteen kit, Trangia, Sawyer Mini, Opinel #8, and I am looking for a better canteen pouch. And OD Green is my favorite color. It is like this video was made for me. Thank you for the review. Very helpful. This bag is just what I am looking for.
Nice. I just got one. The carry strap is very wide, supportive and adjusts very long to short. The bag from Pathfinder is larger and nicer in many ways, not as nice in others. Not the $5 pouch. The one that comes with the kit. It's big enough to carry my Solo stove and pots.
just curious no compass, mirror, whistle, first aid kit, gloves, baby wipes, TP, hand sanitizer? those are basics I would have for the woods for a day pack. just my opinion
All excellent points. I should have included a small first aid kit. My day hikes are 90% in my immediate area through forest I have been around all my life. If I go out to “bushcraft”, first aid kit and gloves are a must. Otherwise, if I’m just strolling through the woods, this is what I take. Thanks for watching and sharing!
@@PaleoHikerMD Me too. Mostly trashing around on the fam's 200+ acre woods/hobby farm, with river whole south border. I don't need a signal flare gun either. (-: Coupla paper towels, 3 ta 4' of duct tape neatly wrapped around a tube of cut yer finger ointment, there's your first aid kit. ~ Duct tape, the bandage up and get back to work bandage right?
nice set up ...the cook kit is excellent....I bought a triangia...and it got messed up , from keeping the fuel in for a a few weeks....but it still worked. 4:23 The bag is specifically designed to that thermos and cup....just like the Water bottle is tailored made for nalgene or Kleen Kanteen Water Bottles...it s a good design
Nice video! Ernie, how comfortable is the shoulder strap? I see there is no shoulder pad and wonder if the strap cuts into the shoulder on longer hikes. Could you comment on this, please? Thank you.
I think given the limited size, it's hard to make it heavy enough to be uncomfortable. I don't see it being an issue, and it has not been for me. Thanks for watching!
Nice kit. I'gonna have to break down and get a couple of those bags for my Pathfinder canteen kits. I've been wanting to for awhile now. Thanks for the video and for sharing.
Nice video, simple and easy. One suggestion, if you include a garbage liner, you will have the 5C's. It looks like there is plenty of room for the liner. Thank you
its a nice kit. bit pricey but nice. Id say swap out the cream for more stove fuel. and the pocket you have for food could hold some kind of food acquisition kit or some SOS food blocks. the kit works well as is but still seems a bit small for my liking. the molly attachment feature is nice to keep it on a bigger pack and use it as an away from camp kit.
A very nice and durable kit. All that gear is quality ,yet compact. I refer to your medical professional experience, but for the common man 🚹, can you suggest a first aid kit (DIY is fine) that will nest within your setup? Thanks ✌✌✌
Can an additional nesting cup be added and/or still carry the cup stove? I would want to make my coffee/tea with my meal. All I would want to add additionally would be a button compass and a whistle. Will a Mora fit in the knife pouch?
I like mine too, even though the side pouches could have been bellowed a tad more. I went with this type of canteen pouch because I wanted a flap over my canteen kit. Then I saw a few with li'l pouches on the sides! If I could put more in it it would be more of a hassle to convert it for me. Like say water, and pouches with various fishing lures/stuffs if I find a big fat grub worm. Other days, with it's strap that extends so long, surely I can configure for a quick possible overnighter/shelter from rain. Small ledge as the kit bag, bit of educated tension using a strap, Bam. ~ So what does using that kind of collectable knife as a ferro rod striker do to your blade? Fahhh, I use the edge of the file in my original Leatherman multi.
I really like the video, I'm using Helikon Kit Bag for more then a year now pretty much every day, so I agree that it's functional and well designed. Worth every $. Question here WHAT BRAND IS THAT SPOON/FORK KIT? It looks so compact, and this is what I miss. I'd appreciate the answer 👍🏻
I’m actually more curious about the small plastic bottle used for cream. Where did you find a good bottle that’s BPA free with the hole on top that stays secure from spilling while traveling?
Nice bag, I am thinking about getting it for the same Pathfinder kit you have there. I plan on keeping it in the trunk of my car for those impromptu hikes that tend to happen. Quick question about the strap when fully loaded with water. Does it cut into your neck or is it generally uncomfortable when you are wearing across your body?
That would make an awesome scout bag for short hikes! I am super interested in this company got stuff on order they have a big buzz going on right now and have run out of a lot of gear.
is the essentials bag more compact than the pathfinder Molle bag? I am looking at the pathfinder canteen set and bag, but I don't want a bulky canteen pouch to molle attach to my pack.
Not a single person making review for that is telling which color it is. They have two different green variants and on their site it's impossible to see the difference. Which color is it exactly? Adaptive green or olive?
don't see how you got all that in the bag my bag only holds a fraction of that maybe I got a scAmazon clone... but it said sold by Helikon-Tex... mine's a tight fit for a canteen & cup & the few other items I added
Maybe it's just me, but I'd much rather spend less money on a slightly larger and much cheaper surplus pouch or assault pack. I don't expect it to look new and shiny long anyway.
Nice bag, but your link is same as I ordered from a week or so back. A month plus eta... from Italy..maybe Netherlands? Maybe Alabama taxing law popping up?, pfft. Amazon is a bane for consumers world wide. Run to the manufacturing site ifn have retail first. (Helicon were sold out btw). ~ Hopes I don't get a NY camera bag covered in cordura. shakes me mane ~
Paleoboy here sez he's from USA. Aren't you nice. Old post but who needs to order from across the pond with such link? Ifn product is not right, ship back to unknown, Italy or netherlands of personal grooming? wat dat?
this is EXACTLY what i needed to know. YES, this bag does fit the pathfinder canteen kit! Yaaaayyyy!!! hahahahaha
Honestly, a little coffee in the woods in a morning hike sounds really nice
I like what you do, you do a lot of research for these items.
For just wandering around in woodland or even on a beach, its all you need.
If only out for a day, its easier to bring a thermo flask with warm coffee and and some toast with ham and cheese. No need for a hot meal on a day hike.😉

I also love Helikon Tex products! It's a company from Poland (my eastern neighbors)...🙂

I like the foxtrot a little more but this one is pretty slick. Reminds me of the Mother canteen kit

Thanks, Earnie, nice little kit you have there!
Nice review, thanks for posting.
Good start! Freedom and peace!
Helikon Tex is a brand in Poland and produces army clothes and some other gear for the polish army. Good stuff...
Great show and nice bag it would work great on a foxtrot mk2
I like how compact that is!

Hey Ernie,
Can you check and see if the Pack Stove XL will fit in this.
It won’t fit in there. Not wide enough
@@PaleoHikerMD thanks brother !

Perfect!

And athalf the price of the mother canteen carrier, great product!
The Mother set is made in America though, with authentic Berry Compliant made in USA Cordura/straps/buckles by an actual American.
Hey Ernie, great video light an compact. As always be safe have a blessed day
I ordered one of those packs. I’m going to try to get a whole survival set up in it with a shelter option.
Hahaha. "We'll talk a little bit more about the specifics of the specs". Nice bag.👍
Small suggestion, add a Heat Sheet under the canteen kit. I have at least one in every kit I use. Just a suggestion

Will a grayl fit in that?

Hey, Helikon Tex just released a new product - Bushcraft Haversack. It looks a bit like made after the Hidden Woodsman Haversack.
I think I would keep that water filter the the top pocket under flap
I also have an Opinel in my kit
does the bag fit the boundless voyage titanium canteen ?
Can you put a 40 oz Klean Canteen in the pouch with a nesting cup?

для чего такая печка?! есть газ, есть костер. а это зачем?!
Газ обьемно и тяжело, на один день тащить некомильфо. а костер далеко не везде есть. И не везде его можно разводить.
This is not a hike kit. This is a im lost in the woods and all i can do is just drink a cup of coffee kit.
