I'm strangely drawn to this game even though I really dislike the majority of open world games. Just seems like a game I'd enjoy and worthy of support at launch. Also, I generally despise most review outlets but NoiseyPixel always comes off as thoughtful. Too many reviewers get so hyper critical and focus on in nit picking. No game is perfect. I just want a fun experience, if a game is fun I can overlook small issues.
Iv put a few hrs in and im having a good time. I do agree that while the graphics aren't ghost levels its not ugly as sin as some people have been saying. Good job on the review.
I am not sure any of the reviewers actually played the hardest difficulty. Apparently this game like nioh once you beat the hardest difficulty. You will unlock another difficulty and the gear will have better traits like nioh. Sovthis game actually has a end game loots. To me its a must play. Also you will unlock more skill. Basically its like nioh 2 end game.
@@b1zarr01 I mean constant loot drops of the same few pieces of gear with ridiculously meaningless stat upgrades. 1% health bonus, 0.5% increase to power attacks, shit like that.
i personally like a challenge but i like when devs offer difficulty options, unless it's a game like sekiro that's meant to be hard. i just can't stand when a game is pathetically easy with no difficulty options. there have been so many potentially good games i wanted to check out but didn't because a lot of people complained of it having no challenge whatsoever.
@@Jack_80 FF16 should have had difficulty options. That game was easy AF. I only died like 2 times, because I decided to fight a boss way under the level it was at
I'm pretty trash at games myself but on easy mode the parry windows seem generous-ish. That and you don't take TOO much damage thus giving you more margins for error to figure it out. That and there's additional options to improve ki(stamina) regeneration and make healing items better (and they are farily generous with healing items) I only died once in a fight was was way overmatched for that was a story event anyhow.
tbh got on ps4 doesnt look that great compared to tlou2 yeah i know got is an open world game but there are other better looking open world games out there
I feel like the review went on too long about the story and didn't really talk enough about the combat. My main concern is that you'll just be fighting the same 5 human enemies for the entire game and this review didn't really help to clearify if that's the case or not.
“Graphics and pop ins” nah it’s worse. Textures and performance as well. You run and move the camera it looks like a slide show. It gets even worse when you start buying faster horses and some of the animals look like they float when they run
The counterspark timing is my least favorite part about this game so far. They should have just done the Nioh thing and have something similar to the ki gauge. Combat would have flowed a lot better
I liked Wo Long more than I liked Sekiro. I consider Elden Ring, Bloodborne and Nioh 2 to be some of the best games I've ever played so I dont have any bias when it comes to Fromsoft vs Team Ninja.
That's because its coming from people that haven't played TN's games that much. People that have, understand the comparison because its a japanese setting and open world, but thats deceiving. This is more a mix of Wo Long with an AC open world and a branching decision making narrative. Forget about GoT, the only thing that they seem to have brought from that game is the inspiration for the rock, paper, scissors stance system, that because the combat already plays completely different than in GoT, it ends up being almost non relevant.
How has this combat become so popular? The Japanese setting really exposes the sham. It looks like one of those mindless clickfest Musou games. Swinging weapons through the air. No sense of impact on armor or flesh or other weapons. No artistry. No tactical skills. No ability to target specific parts of the enemy's anatomy to weaken some armor piece or disable a body part. Player and enemies are both damage sponges. Character gets sliced through the leg or punctured through the heart, and get up immediately.
This is Nioh combat, their only strong points were combos, and probably the only example of long combos in an action rpg setting. But everything else as you said felt off.
It’s hilarious that you gave Spider-Man 2 a 7 because of some glitches that were patched out, yet this game with all it’s visual and performance issues and 10 yo AC style open world busy work game gets an 8 from you? lol
I will never pre-order any game outside the cancelation window on PS5 (which is 14 days) after this. I would rather play DD2 at 30 FPS any day over a 77 on meta critic. I just don't have time for mediocre games.
@@ProfessorChaos2050 yes because you can't play a game at 30 fps on a OLED TV. I am glad you can't tell the difference. Enjoy your game. I will be playing rise of the roni.
I was already going to get this game. Naturally I wanted to see how it reviewed by a reliable game reviewer! Now I’m even more hyped for this game!
Appreciate you!
We didn’t forget that wrongfully 7/10 score you gave for Spiderman 2

When your only issue is graphics and some minor tech issues you are more than fine. I would love to get this game for my PS5 if I had one.
It’s on sale at the moment
"only issue"
Imagine that was Dragons Dogma 2's only issue, I wish.
UI looks soooo bad. Just look at that arial font on the main menu lmao. Compare it to sekiro. Miles behind.

Thanks for sticking around
Excellent review. I’m in for anything Team Ninja do and can’t wait to get going on this one :)
I this is the only channel where a number given at the end of the review is actually representative of the games quality!
Agree 100 percent!!!!!!
The 7 given to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is not representative of the game quality though...

this review aligns with my interests in what RotR has to offer. Can't wait to play Ronin!
The closest we'll get to a Rurouni kenshin game. A difficulty mode is always a positive.
How's the loot system? Is it as bad as it was in Wo Long and Stranger of Paradise?
If by bad you mean damn near every enemy drops at least a few pieces of gear then...yeah?

We can create the two characters but we don't really see the twin in your review, is he not important? Can we play with a miko outfit like Nioh 2?
I was right to be excited for this
Is the game still “very difficult” on the easiest mode? How does easy mode in this game compare to normal mode in Ghost of Tsushima for example?

You don’t. The human enemies also have access to the weapons you have access to, which means encounters vary.
@@NoisyPixelNews How many weapons are there roughly also you did bring up that there are different stances/styles, do the enemies also utilize those?
