The mineral oil PC is to this day by far my favorite one. And It's not even close. Maybe it's the shock of watching computer working in a liquid or the aesthetically pleasing aquarium setup, but it's so much better than everything else. It is the one that deserves a re-visit.

@@actually5004also you can’t have fish in mineral oil or distilled water… that literally puts contaminants in the fluid and will absolutely short the pc

honestly i appreciate the care and attention that Luke paid to those old projects even if they weren't as "professional". gave them character.
I'm so glad "Slick"'s mineral oil rig reboot from Langley made it into the honorable mentions. That was one of the videos that really sold me on this channel back in the day. Crazy to think it's been 9 years.
Luke's build videos were amazing. They had this relatability that LTT has lost overtime. Like Alex's videos still have the chaos and the jank, but it's using tools most of us will never even seen in person. Luke was your homie in his garage running on no sleep and energy drinks doing what he can with a pile of scraps. The energy in those vids was perfect.
Another Nerd Forge build would be AWESOME.

@@misternormL If you're talking about Anthony, they are still at LMG. They have since transitioned and are now Emily. She has backed down from being a host to not draw negative attention to LMG and/or their selves since they are semi public figure. Through her own words she is receiving support from LMG and her friends and are unsure of when they will be comfortable in front of a camera again.

This feels like the beginning of an amazing series. I would love to just watch LTT staff sit around and talk about their old videos. The memories and the nostalgia would be amazing to watch and relive as a fan. Thanks for the fun videos you all!

It was a really simple and clean build, perfectly balanced with the right ammount of lore
Watching the tea flow out of the spout and foam on the GPU was just next level too.
The sheer talent and hard work that Martina and Hansi put into the cyberpunk build is so out of this world.
My two favorite types of videos over the years; sleeper builds and most of your server/networking videos.
The smack talk and segues in this one are hilarious! Linus, Luke and Jake make a fantastic combo!

I can't believe I've seen every single one of these...
I was going through my Favorites list recently (or I guess it's been simply a playlist called 'Favorites' for many years now), and found out that I actually watched you BEFORE LTT, on NCIX Tech Tips... I have no recollection of that.
But then the set in the background of videos from 12 years ago brings back memories, as do your co-hosts, especially the female one. Turns out, some of these videos from well over 10 years ago were added to my favorites on the day they were uploaded. And it's not like RUclips back then would have pushed those to me. Wild. I guess I've known you for almost half my life, though you've probably never even seen my comments before :D
What I also didn't know is that you must have helped me build my first PC, back in 2010. Thank you for all you for the community Linus and LMG :)
The pc for the Spiffing Brit was really good and the tea coming from the teapot int the tube gave me an idea, what about creating a laminar flow tube inside the pc, it would have been cool seeing the pot pouring liquid in a cup in the pc? It would be the collest way to show fluid flowing in a zen themed pc or something like that. Obviusly it would need to use mineral oil or something like that to avoid evaporation, accidental spalshings and in to make the laminar flow form faster with less turbollence, but it would be cool, challenging and unique...
"You made a stencil and it still looked like that". That got me. Jake has 10/10 putdowns. Savage. When are he and Alex getting to lead on a car channel again?
I'd bet good money that even when Jake's being super nice and polite, there's a little subroutine running 24/7 in the back of his brain, constantly generating this calibre of sass for its own amusement. I'm just grateful that he gets to let it off the leash for our entertainment 🥰

Interesting to see the builds that I had forgotten. Great walk down memory lane, and the community's ranking is quite on point. It's always fun and enlightening to see how much we have evolved in terms of modding capabilities.
My personal favorite was MBX MK II, loved the story behind and everything it stands for
Love the bong chiller, built one myself back in early 2000's after reading on forums about them. Mine was super ghetto, but worked great! Using 2 water blocks I built from scratch using 2"x2"x1" solid copper blocks that I drilled out on a drill press, then filled in with jb weld, and screwed some barbed fittings into. With nothing other than a via aqua 1300 pump, and hardware store 1/2" id tubing
went through about 3/4 of a gallon of water DAILY through evaporation, and left tons of residue in my system due to my using sink water.

The bomb case pc, still one of my fav builds on this channel, can still vividly remember the video and being inspired by it to make my own themed pc.

I was about to comment and say that there's a youtuber named nerdforge who's artistic ability is unrivaled when it comes to detailed miniature structures. Then, surely enough, it was with her. Honestly, I love to see it. People like her with such a unique ability can truly make the most eloquent things.
The PC was amazing, it was on one of the sets for quite a while and wonder what price it went for.
That thing really deserves to be exhibited in a museum, it's one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Maybe build 2 of them, competition style… 2 people on each team, the 4 people I would pick would be Linus, Luke, Alex, and Jake. Draw straws to select the teams, I wouldn’t really want to make a time limit on the build but I would think that the amount of time that was spent building the first Mineral Oil PC should be sufficient, maybe a little longer, and do 2 videos, 1 for each build. Then 1 video comparing them with the 4 of you there to give each other s**t if needed, then have James, Riley, and Dan be the Judges…

I've enjoyed all of these builds, especially the sleepers.
I always felt that LTT could colab with a case manufacturer to make a really cool and super functional case.

11:22 - Nerd Forge legendary cool stuff, I found out about the channel from that video/build, and even after seeing their dedication and skill I still cannot fathom how they were able to make that epic Cyberpunk design! They went with an idea to make something 100% cool and overdid it to 500%. Mind was blown.
seeing that creeper and some jank cardboard really should be combined, like the cardboard pc you did but using a aluminum extrusion frame so it's diy friendly *-*

This is a great list, but two of my favourites are actually missing: the "RGB Everything" and "RGB Water Cooling" PCs. While they're more moderate than the other builds on the list, they were still rather extreme for their time because RGB lighting wasn't as commonplace when those videos were produced. More importantly, those two builds gave me ideas that I used in my own water cooled PC with pretty much everything illuminated with programmable RGB lighting, and after several upgrades I'm still using that as my main gaming PC now.
Nerdforge and LTT was two universes colliding for me. Loved it. They should do something again!
The Xbox build is still to this day one of my favorite PC builds. I loved that build and video. It was a big inspiration for my hot wheels PC build/video

These PC's were the reason I subscribed to the channel... It just inspired me to finally take the plunge and build my own system for the first time.
I don’t know if this has been done before but what about a PC build that acts as a heater. So for those who live in frosty environments the more you game the warmer / cozier it gets?

Definitely need more Nerdforge Collabs. Here's a couple other ideas: a dustless PC. I recently saw a video where someone built a cyclone dust filter for woodworking. Another option would be a "fanless" build that uses a Dyson fan as an intake.

Sad not to see it mentionned but as a sysadmin my favourite was clearly the 6 Editors 1 CPU for the hardware and configuration itself, really cool buikd I'd like to see more of.

A bit more overkill than the main machine I play Minecraft on - but I've been known to do that WHILE plotting CHIA on the same machine, AND web browsing.
17:10 A better idea, you could let multiple people use it rewarm cold pizza so if it's being replenished fast enough it could actually help dissipate the heat.
The video where Linus recreated his first gaming computer actually inspired me to recreate 2 of my favorite gaming computers from my past. My 3.06 northwood p4, the first hyper threaded CPU, and my 1.4 thunderbird. Although I honestly can’t remember what motherboard was in either one so I went with motherboards I wanted so badly back then, Soyo Dragon 🐉 boards. I’m waiting on the CPU cooler to arrive for the northwood and it will be complete. Well I need some hometime too.
Id love to see more small form factor builds. I'm trying to build a pc for the first time and went with the silverstone milo 11 slim. Anxious to see how it comes out.
