I strongly recommend finding and listening to Prof. Snyder's Ukraine class one year ago. 20 classes . the whole history of the rising up of Ukraine.

I followed Snyder’s online Ukrainian History course as well, notes and all. I also took
“A Brief History of Ukraine” at UVictoria, BC, ca, in 2015. Snyder has since filled in many gaps for me as well

@@mchozen2958 Snyder is so good at keeping his lessons framed in a narrative way that you can follow all the different threads back to Ukraine in ways that opened many other research paths.

Timothy Snyder makes more sense on this subject than anyone. Ukraine will prevail or win whichever comes first.

Thanks so much for this podcast. All wars eventually end in peace. But there are many false interludes. We all want to see a peace that includes Russian culture and people, eventually after the current {reasodemt becomes a few paragraphs in a history book.

When skiing, I end up where my eyes focus. Putin's focus on the past means an inevitable dismal end for him. In contrast, the Ukrainians have admirable courage, ingenuity, and quiet persistence.

5:45 and they start part of that conversation with talk about "anti tyrannical values".

No natter what principle you put out there in a conversation with Prof. Snyder, he will make an incisive comment towards further illumination or contrast.

You're right. Once we have the category of values rather than the good the true and the beautiful nihilism is on the scene. I'm not implying it's possible to return; it's just the situation.

Academic or propagandist? Mr. Snyder only recites the "bad ideas" on one side while the other side's bad ideas are at least as bad and contributed just as much if not more to the war.

@@PierreHolenweg-uc3xt English not your first language? I clearly made no mention of good ideas on either side because there are none.
But what would happen if China stationed weapons in Mexico like US proxy NATO does all around Russia?
You'd know what would happen if you knew what happened in Cuba in 1962. The US threatened WW lll if Russia did not remove their missiles.

@@twntwrs There are no nuclear weapons in ukraine, nor has to be any such things even in the case Ukraine joins NATO.
US would certainly be worried if China stationed nuclear weapons in Mexico, China not being a defensive alliance but an empire.

Don't have to agree but will have to ask yourself why H. Kissinger and N. Chomsky (who couldn't be further apart on the political spectrum and despise each other more) pretty much made the same observations.
Your English is better than my French, chapeau.
