The Triungulo Lab WH-X sounds the best to me. It has great features (master volume, easy-to-use bypass switch and a non-metal enclosure) and an awesome color! :D I’ve owned the V3 for about 1 1/2 years and I really had a hard time with it. I love the sound, but it‘s so heavy and clanky. The bypass switch is a pain in the ass & the pedal (I mean the physical pedal itself) is so loud. You could hear me flipping the pedal up and down even when I‘m in the other room. The True Bypass / Buffered switch on the side is just messing with my pedal board order, it‘s not positioned well.😅 I would love to get a WH-X, mainly because of the master volume & the bypass switch. I‘m using a (really) crunchy jcm800 studio head and my V3 is still a little loud. Also turning the pedal off would be easier! :D Great review, keep it up Dave! :)
I love the WH10!!!! I'm relieved to hear you say you don't hear much difference between them. I got the WH10v3 off eBay shipped from Japan to the Scotland last year just before lockdown after hearing your WH10 review. I am really pleased with it. It's so much fun. I also use it with a DS2 and/or the Jackhammer. Come to think about it, there's a considerable amount of on my pedalboard bought after one of your reviews. They are really appreciated.
Hey, Dave. Been watching your vids for a while, and I must say that the attraction for me to the Strat/Ibanez wah/Boss DS-2 set up is that it really allows the guitar to speak. And you manage to make it speak loudly. Keep up the good work!
Ibanez makes some killer Wahs. I have their Weeping Demon wah on my board and love it for how ridiculously customizable it is. The thing is built like a tank too, so that's a major plus.
I prefer all the way the TrianguloLab’s WH-X mate.. That authentic feel of the plastic / 3D print is great and I love its treble as you have explained its high-end clarity! I am rocking it every day when practicing so we shall see how it endures! A cool comparison video though, I we been waiting for something like this! 😊🤘🏻
That intro was amazing, want to hear more of that, didn’t want it to stop! I didn’t notice much difference between the V2 and V3, but both of those sounded a lot better than the V1 to me.
I feel like I understand why you prefer the V2 so much. I got my V2 when it came out and played it almost everyday and man I did not go easy on it I stomped on it and put my full weight on it went bananas on it. Still works just scratchy pot but I feel like the complaints people have I didn’t have the luxury or want to just return it and get another this was a wah I had saved up for and waited months for I found ways to give it what it wants as you would say and use it’s faults to my advantage. It’s kinda like a car or a guitar you have that you have put so much love into it and it won’t break and just keeps going. I got the V3 when it came out also and I have enjoyed it a lot. The more I use it the more it’s gotten some wear on it so it’s easier to move I don’t care for the true bypass. Wills new wah looks and sounds great he’s a very smart dude and I don’t doubt it’s amazing but I haven’t heard any sound from Wills that makes me justify the price and waitlist. Also I am just to happy with my V2 and V3 maybe in the future.
Dave, i’ve gotta say, i’m loving the usage of the CR120 recently! I know you love your MG’s, but they don’t compare one bit to the awesomeness of the Orange! I can tell that you feel it too when you’re playing. I recently ditched my ac15 in place of the CR120. Not arrived yet. Many of the reasons are some of the reasons you prefer SS over tubes! The CR120 sounds like it was made for you 👍👍👍
ach wah's , i haved had the ibanez wh 10 , an morley wah , and offcourse an cry baby ( the big and mini one ) , now the last few years i have the boss pw 3 wah , it works fine is strudy and you have the lights on the side to tell wether the pedal is on yes or no , it also fit's nicely on my pedaltrain metro 24 pedalbord , so yeah , here's one happy wah owner ; )
I enjoyed the comparison a lot, great video Dave! I just wanted to ask you one thing... given that nothing lasts forever (all pedals need some kind of maintenance eventually), I'm really curious to understand how much time needs to pass before the WH-X can make you happy and not worry anymore about it haha :) Also another thing to consider in the v3 would be the switch engaging system , which doesn't allow the same flexibility of the v2 and v1 (being able to just hit the toe without rolling it back to turn on and off - you may point it out in the review video). Still, interesting video and glad to see you still enjoying my pedal!
The problem with the V2 is that it gets REALLY scratchy. The V3 is still new, so I don't know if anyone's has gotten scratchy yet. But I can say my V3 sounds far more smooth than my V2. I still love my V2, but yeah, my V3 definitely sounds cleaner.lol
I really like you Dave! Very inspiring! I'm quite new here so I'm not gonna act like I've been here forever but I believe if people surround themselves with individuals such as yourself it would produce absolute positivity bro!
Awesome! Personally I prefer the Triungulo WH-X. I have the V2 & the WH-X, and feel the Triungulo has a wider sweep & range plus its 10x easier to turn on & off. Loved the intro jam Dave, and your review was excellent. To my ears there was very little difference between them. TL V1 was maybe a tad brighter. I bought the V3 March 2020. I find it interesting that you highlighted the lack of sweep on the V3... I feel the exact same. I also find at times the V3 can be a bit tricky to engage. I really like the relatively small size of the V3. With a small pedalboard the Dunlop Crybaby is crazy big. In recent weeks I have found that the V3 not to be performing as well as it did initially... I wonder what that's all about?
Hmm. Little difference via the Tube so tricky to say which I would prefer. All sounded great in your capable hands (foot). Maybe time to retire my Colorsound supa wah.
Great demo Dave and fab intro as always! For me I actually think the MK3 just had a tad more attitude and depth, then next preferred one was the Mk2. That said all were damn good reckon it would come down to how it feels to the player.
Dave im here in my car waiting till it's 20:30 so I can pick up a second hand Marshall Silver Jubilee combo from someone (im 10 minutes to early). And being a poor student, I was very lucky to get it for a good deal. On my way there, I was very excited to pick up the Jubilee and I started to shout and laugh out loud out of happiness. But after the euforia, I become so emotional that I started crying. I don't know what it is of where it came from, but the thought of possessing an amp John has, made my cry of I guess joy? I don't know I just felt like sharing that. I'm on my way now to pick it up because it's 20:29!
You should try to change the mechanical sweep on the WH10V3! Just open up the pedal and you can adjust the sweep poti by loosen a screw and turning the poti 1-2 mm to the right (more top high, less bottom sweep) or left (more top bottom, less high sweep) when the pedals true bypass swith is facing away from you. I wanted more high end sweep and now the WH10V3 screams.
Ok here are my thoughts on the matter: I have the v2 and i immediately ordered the v3. The v2 was fun but as you say you have to give it very specific things in order to work properly. I honestly hated the v3. The down position didn't have any bite at all. Yes it does the JF thing but in a much duller and sterile way. Also when i was flicking the bypass switch, the pedal stopped working. I had it for 2 days and i sent it back for a refund. It felt like a bad joke. I dunno if the triungulo lab one is worth the money. Myself i cant justify spending that much money on a wah pedal (if it was below 200 then maybe..). HOWEVER! Judging by the Olly Vert video you dont do it proper justice (i hope you dont mind me saying that). About the plastic its supposed to be stronger that the original (if not we'll find out as you say) while maintaining the original feel. About the bypass i think that they did it in a better way than the v2. It doesnt color or suck the sound that much and it doesnt want what the v2 demands (if im wrong correct me on that one please). I also hate the pot because its protruding out (it could be internal) and i would love a much more minimal aesthetic (color is dope though!) BUT! from what i understood the pot plays the role of giving the v1.5 and the v1 sounds. If i remember correctly you had the black one which is the v1.5. This is supposed to sound very different from the v1. P.S. Since you love tubeless amps i would love to see an ampless JF rig. Maybe with a Strymon Iridium or a Walrus ACS1. They are both stereo im curious if you can pull the JF sound from those devices. I know they are expensive, but maybe you could borrow one from somebody? Anyway it would be a pretty interesting video i bet. And as always really thank you for the great concent!
During the playing part closed captions keep saying '"[Music]" , "wow"' and "oh". Some of the less frequent words are "bye", "[Applause]" , "[Laughter]" and "is".
I’ve had the v2 and now have the v3, only difference I can tell is that the v3 is slightly easier to turn on 😂. Struggling with the volume jump at the moment, I know you’ve said it needs a dirty amp but I don’t seem to be able to get it under control, would be interested to hear your pedal order. Currently have guitar>compressor>mxr micro amp>boss ds-2>wh10v3, Also, I see you’re using the RC10r looper, I also have this, are you running it in the loop or at the end of the chain? Mine doesn’t seem to like sitting at the end of the chain much.
Dave! When are we going to hear about that Boss RC-10R? I am so curious to hear your thoughts as I recently bought and returned one myself. I loved the visual looping, but the rhythm side was what really intrigued me, with having the combo. I went through the dozens and dozens of drums and variations and I just couldn't dig 98% of them. I brought it back and took home an EHX 22500... I love it. Dual loops with dedicated controls for each, a rhythm circuit with 20 slots that have a variety of solid drums (in my opinion) and you can pop out the included SD card and overwrite the 20 different channels with your own .wav's so basically skies the limit. I also really love that it's stereo... I ran the left channel to my guitar signal path and the right to my bass... so I can fire up drums, lay down bass and guitar loops all at the same time independently. it also has an XLR input with a trim pot and even has phantom power, so i can take a mic anywhere and go straight in this pedal for vocals, acoustic, whatever. oh and it's got a mode where you can record both loops and playback at the same time or you can toggle it so they swap back and forth, so you can have multiple parts of a song and play through them back and forth, etc. sorry for the super long comment, i am just stoked on this new pedal and i saw you also have that RC-10R on your board in this video so I'm very eager to hear your thoughts!
honestly the fact that you put that RC-10R on your board makes me feel like maybe I made a mistake! i greatly respect your input / opinion on gear as much as you as a player. you've been a huge positive influence on my playing!
@@schmoofadoop I think you've answered your own question. You tried the Boss is wasn't your thing and you say you love the EHX. So, it's totally a case what you love, not what Dave or anybody else loves. We all play differently, have different needs and different goals. Just stick with what you love & you'll certainly avoid the pitfall of never ending changing/buying gear that somebody else thinks is great. Cheers. 🎸🎸🎸
God... if only Ibanez and Fender would get their shit together and both release John Frusciante signature editions... (In fairness I have read that Fender have ‘offered’ this to John Frusciante a couple of times over the last few decades, but he has continually said no - apparently one of the reasons being that he isn’t entirely happy with Fender profiting off his name for Signature edition guitars (Strats, Teles, Jags) despite the fact that they would probably be very likely to give him a decent licensing deal...or at least that’s what Fender should do...)
How do you like the boss looper? I have the trio plus that is kind of similar but I’m thinking of buying the boss? The opening jam was the bass and drums from the boss pedal?
@@thedavesimpson thank you for the response. It sounded great in the intro. I ordered a Mel9 after hearing what you did with that a few days ago. Truly inspiring. Thanks man, have a great rest of the day.
7:26 Triungulo Lab WH-X (v1 clone) 8:03 Ibanez WH10v2 8:51 Ibanez WH10v3 I think v1 and v3 sound nice,v2 sounds darker due to it having some extra caps on the circuit (a low pass filter). I've removed them on mine and sounds better:)
@ Jorge - thank you for the time stamps, I can't even tell you how many times of clicked on them to compare. 😆 WH -X is a small amount cleaner/clearer/less dark, however you choose to describe it then both Ibanez... I still really can't tell which I most like. But, I'm really not keen on any plastic pedal, let alone a wah. Cheers. 😎
Looks like your pedalboards expanded since you last went through it on a video. Can we expect another run-through of it soon? Ps. As usual, great video
If/when the pedal board gets any longer are you going to remove some pedals, or take the less traumatic option and knock the wall through??? 😂😂😂 Seriously, its looking an ace board, like a recording studio at your feet!!!
The Triungulo Lab WH-X sounds the best to me. It has great features (master volume, easy-to-use bypass switch and a non-metal enclosure) and an awesome color! :D

I liked the triangle labs best. The sweep was sweeter. After that the v2.
I think that's one of the best intros to the video I've ever seen. Especially if you play it in 1.25 speed.
I think the WH-X is a clear winner. Sounds closest to John in my opinion. V2 is a second then the V3.
Wow, love your playing, Dave.
I’m happy to here the three is getting out and about. Have some fun, it’s been a while.
I enjoyed the comparison a lot, great video Dave! I just wanted to ask you one thing...
given that nothing lasts forever (all pedals need some kind of maintenance eventually), I'm really curious to understand how much time needs to pass before the WH-X can make you happy and not worry anymore about it haha :)
Also another thing to consider in the v3 would be the switch engaging system , which doesn't allow the same flexibility of the v2 and v1 (being able to just hit the toe without rolling it back to turn on and off - you may point it out in the review video).
Still, interesting video and glad to see you still enjoying my pedal!
Some damn cool tones today!... But I still like my £25 Behringer Hell Babe! 👍👍👍

Cheers. 🎸🎸🎸
Its coming soon. :)
Sounds awesome man
Do they all behave well with the DS2 in making the Dani California crazy wah sound?
Yep
Hi Dave! I thought the first pedal had the slightest edge for me, it sounded it was giving just a bit more umph.
That opening was Uli Jon Roth epic!
Hi Dave. For me the version 2, sounded the most like Frusciante.
v1(whx) v2 & v3? Ok,I'm in 🤓
That jam's chord progression reminds me of Nothing to Lose
Edit: Dave,do you have the VOX v847 on yout pedalboard now?
Its not plugged in.
amazing intro
God... if only Ibanez and Fender would get their shit together and both release John Frusciante signature editions...
I love the boss and yeps. The drums are from the boss. :)
@@thedavesimpson thank you for the response. It sounded great in the intro. I ordered a Mel9 after hearing what you did with that a few days ago. Truly inspiring. Thanks man, have a great rest of the day.
@@guyfromnj I'd never heard anyone make the mel9 sing like that. Amazing.
@@biggusunitus me neither. It was epic sounding.
Hi Dave!
Do you feel like the V3 would need the same mod as the V2 to make switching the pedal on/off easier?
I don't no.
Tried & Tested by Dave Simpson V2 every time!🙂👍
The V3's true/buffered bypass could come in handy if you had like an hx stomp amp and pedal rig.
That intro!!!!! Epic!!!
I would love you to play one of focus hits it would brilliant
I liked the V2 better, it seems to cut through a little more. They all sound good, though.
7:26 Triungulo Lab WH-X (v1 clone)
8:03 Ibanez WH10v2
8:51 Ibanez WH10v3
I think v1 and v3 sound nice,v2 sounds darker due to it having some extra caps on the circuit (a low pass filter). I've removed them on mine and sounds better:)
@ Jorge - thank you for the time stamps, I can't even tell you how many times of clicked on them to compare. 😆
WH -X is a small amount cleaner/clearer/less dark, however you choose to describe it then both Ibanez...
I still really can't tell which I most like. But, I'm really not keen on any plastic pedal, let alone a wah.
Cheers. 😎
I thought number 2 sounded the best very expressive
Mr. Dave! Are you using PEDs? These intros just keep getting better. I hope you're well, my friend!
The beard is gone
Looks like your pedalboards expanded since you last went through it on a video. Can we expect another run-through of it soon?
Ps. As usual, great video
Well,... I liked the hairy fella at the star and the way he played the guitar, not sure I cared about the pedals after that
👍👍
Is that cable reversed over and under?
I think it's Try-unG-you-low.
Tree Ann Goo law
Hope that helps.
like the shaved face Dave, perhaps a haircut next?
Nope
Been on the v3 for several months now. It murders
If/when the pedal board gets any longer are you going to remove some pedals, or take the less traumatic option and knock the wall through??? 😂😂😂 Seriously, its looking an ace board, like a recording studio at your feet!!!
Did it break?
The bottom plate has come away but it still works. :)
@@thedavesimpson can you still use it on your board with no bottom plate or have you gone back to the v2?
@@paulwood1657 I still use it without the bottom plate. No issue
