I've noticed that having a supply advantage vs. zerg, especially in a PvZ, can be quite misleading. Zerglings take up quarter of the supply that basic protoss units do, and hydras take one half, so in the early-to-mid game (before casters and splash-dealers become abundant) zerg get more bang for supply unit. This is also the biggest reason why the unit lost tab is misleading (lesser ones being scourges and overlords); zerg can lose three times as many units and be trading well. That said, however, Goojilla had secured a huge supply advantage and it was a bit of a disappointment not to see him press it. So the lesson here seems to be that killing overlords won't get you far unless you follow up with a regular attack immediately. As soon as Goojilla had massacred overlords Jaedong had 8 new ones in production; with his economy intact and no immediate attack coming, that whole attack barely inconvenienced Jaedong at all, and when Goojilla did attack, it was a weak push. I wonder if this could've gone the other way had he invested in disruption web. With 9 corsairs it would mean a lot of neutralized lurkers, base defenses, and could be even useful against hydras. Brilliant storm play.
Yeah, I felt the same way about that situation. Likewise, at 23:00, Jaedong really could have finished it there with another wave of zerglings but instead he opted for a tech switch to guardians. Of course, we the observers have the luxury of seeing each players' supply/bank; had the players known I'm sure they'd opt for a better strategy.
Holy crap. I've watched I think all the remastered games on your channel (you're awesome!), and I have to say that was one of the craziest games you've casted. Made me remember why I love BW. That was such a high level game. Goojilla played an absolutely amazing PvZ, and even then, Jaedong found a way to play to an ever higher level. That wasn't a David vs. Goliath. That was Goliath vs. Goliath +1. Craziness. Thanks Falcon.
So I have a question. I do not play broodwar. But how could toss have won this? It seems like the toss just battered the zerg's mineral lines and was far more cost efficient. And yes i understand the zerg eventually got like 8 bases and unlimited bank... but how does the toss stop that? He won every fight, dealt the most damage, and lost? Actual question.
He could have storm dropped more often (high templar in shuttles to storm workers) and made another forge to get his upgrades up faster (actually it looks like he did get another forge, but kinda forgot to use it). Not much else on the strategic side other than that. If you see at the 23 min mark protoss lost his whole army and lost the initiative for the rest of the game. It is kinda how the matchup works: Protoss has the stronger army and can easily cut through zerg's like butter, but once you lose a battle it becomes tough to get back in the driving seat with zerg having faster unit spawn rate and more economy, running away with the game by constantly attacking the protoss army & bases and not letting him get near the hatcheries.
Toss are the hardest to play with by far...units are slow..templar and reaver..toss almost always lose it seems against zerg and against terran..its actually bery hard to find a toss player beating a terram.
Well, Jaedong is hard to play against, obviously, so it's not like there's a simple, "easy Protoss win in 3 step" answer to your question. But the issue here is that Goojilla never actually dealt any relevant damage to Jaedong. He spent most of the game in damage-control, allowing Jaedong, as you pointed out, to take over most of the map. He did make a few good offensive moves, for example when he supply-blocked Jaedong at 81/39, but he never made it count by actually destroying hatcheries. As Fa2 said, when you allow a Zerg to get the initiative and the economic lead, you're going to be run over by an endless stream of Zerg units. Also, keep in mind that the "dealt the most damage" impression can be misleading. Supply wise and cost wise, a Zealot is the equivalent of 4 Zerglings. In this game, Jaedong mostly relied on cheap units like Zerglings and Hydralisks. Goojilla, on the other hands, used a lot of Reavers, which cost 15 minerals every time they fire. Every time a Reaver attacked was almost the equivalent, resource wise, of losing one Zergling. That's why the kill count looked so favourable to the Protoss.
Ok. Interesting. Thanks for the responses all. So overall the recommendations would be to target down the hatcheries instead of just workers and try to keep army alive. I didnt think of the fact that reaver volleys cost minerals so that is a really good poijt
Also it might've been a good idea to try doing more of that exp harass in general, not just storm drops (especially a bit earlier). like what the toss did to bottom left xp with reaver, archon dt drop. I felt that toss used a ton of resources to that large corsair fleet and even if those corsair killed a lot of overlords later, building them in addition to losing many units early at z natural really hurt his offense at that point. I dont know I mean Jaedong is an extremely good zerg and thus very hard to keep from expanding as toss.
I think the Protoss player should research disrupting wave with the cosairs, so he could put them on the spore colony and hydras while he was hunting overlords. Also if he could afford enough reavers, he could do a dragoon reaver combo. If he drops with a dragoon reaver combo, he might actually win. The Zerg player has almost no static defense at any of his base against dragoon reaver drop, and when his reinforcements come it's still not easy to defeat the dragoon reaver combo once it's in position. Also reavers are great at countering the defilers. And if he keeps his cosairs in the early time alive and use them with the drop with disrupting wave, or to counter any Zerg offensives, it's also very useful and can be very effective. It's great to watch the success of reavers in this game.
Protoss units are more in hp, more skill composition. But expensive than those cheaper Zerg units Zerg keep swarming through P bases to force resources being used on defense instead of attack. Is that a thing ? Jaedong made it once again !
I agree.... The key to beating Z using P is to do storm drops and drone harassment and cripple the economy enough to then push with your ball. Don't get me wrong GooJilla tried to do just that. BUT like this match where JD just had INFINITE resources... no matter how many engagements you win with your ball. Z can just REMAX with his resources... JD an absolute Z macro beast.
Yeah but keep in mind. Toss army si SOOOOOO.... slow at destroying bases compared to Zerg just sending 20 zerglings w/ swarm which can basically kill and expansion in 10-20 secs. So if GooJilla did that. Guaranteed there would have been a base drop. before you even kill 1 expansion of JD.
Wow. Now thats how ya swarm. 1000 units produced and 200 something killed lol. Woulda liked to have seen some dropperlord action. But who knows how that wouldve worked out. Early when it was zealots probably fine but later when it was dragoon, archon, and templar thats a good way to lose a whole army and a ton of supply. Well played by jaedong glad to see him win since he lost pretty badly on the last one i watched. Good cast falcon.
Ye, Jaedong just waited for Goojilla to run out. You can't leave zerg alone or they will claim the map and just beat you with resources. Goojilla won most encounters as far as economy goes, but it doesn't matter when you can't resupply your army for long.
i dunno man.. i actually really like that you don't fully understand what you're talking about while you cast. you miss some really obvious and important stuff.. but honestly, it's *fun* because of it! i enjoy this kind of casting. it's really refreshing, actually. i wanna help you out!
A really kickass match. One of the more Zerg-y matches out there. Protoss would win the initial bit but the overwhelming numbers would consume the Protoss through shear numbers by their second or third counter attack.
Jaedong made it again ! and without Ultras ... Like the try for Guardians, but not really effective, seems that they are OP against AI ( like you said few times ) and also against low level newbies...
Hey you should check replays with boxer vs any of these guys [oops]reach , nal_ra ( Protoss ).. [nc]yellow , julyzerg (Zerg) .. red[nada] (Terran) All I can think of off the top of my head from the boxer era .. you should check all those players out

Don’t be meek, because it makes it seem like you don’t know what is going on. Almost be a braggart, like you are just pretending that you didn’t know. At 27:27 Falcon says “I really don't know what Goo has to deal with guardians. (storms kill guardians) I mean, I mean storm is really good.” Don’t be meek, it makes one look like they don’t know what is going on and it slows down the cast. Instead say something like “I really don't know what Goo has to deal with guardians EXCEPT FOR STORMS BITCHES. Check out those awesome storms.” Try to pretend that you knew all along that storms were OBVIOUSLY the correct answer and that you were just goofing and pretending to not know. Also: get hyped. Freak out. Get excited. Those storms CAME OUT OF NOWHERE OMG AWESOME. Not: yep those storms. Those storms are fairly cool. Ha ha ha ha 7:20 Falcon forgot the name of sunken colonies. Don’t bring that up. If you don’t know something and you can’t spin it to be really funny just don’t talk about it. Say “he is setting up his defenses” instead of “he is planting, um, the, I forget what its call, sunken colony, that’s it” 10:04 “That’s another evolution chamber”. As if Falcon didn’t know what it was until he checked. Instead it should be “And we have another evolution chamber”. Its more authoritative. 11:24 The entire bit where Falcon was doodling with the hotkeys. Don’t mention what is going on. Do the correction and distract us by talking. We should not be able to notice that an error was made. For us here on youtube (and myself) we don’t care, but its amateurish and not very pro. 14:39 "Did he just plague, um wait, hold on (long pause) The Corsairs just got plagued”. Upon suspecting that a plague was thrown down Faclon should keep talking about something else while looking. Maybe about how awesome Defilers are or something. And then upon spotting the Corsairs getting hit mention that they got hit. Because before that it seems like Falcon wasn’t fast enough to see what happened, or maybe a plague didn’t go down and Falcon looks like he doesn’t know what is going on. Never mention what MIGHT have happened. Distract that audience while confirming the subject. Otherwise its boring while you are looking or worse yet, you were wrong. 17:03 “messing with the economy of Jaedong, and then pulling back home that was enough work I suppose”. You suppose? Be a braggart. Never be meek. In pro casts they would say “he messed with the economy of Jadeong and then is going back home because obviously he has done enough. He doesn’t want to over-extend himself. I obviously know this because I know everything because I am the greatest.” You have to explain what is going on to use. Reveal what is going on under the hood. You are the master explaining what is going on to use pleebs. Why should I listen to you if you are just as uncertain as to what is going on as I am. Defiler: "Hey guys, live and let live"
Probe: "Alright Defiler, we will!"
What a treat! Jaedong = auto click, auto like. Keep up the great casting Falcon, you are getting a lot more knowledgeable about Brood War!
The amount of control both of them showed here - absolutely un-believable!
I've noticed that having a supply advantage vs. zerg, especially in a PvZ, can be quite misleading. The bank of Jaedong is just too good for the late game... Love this game Falcon. Keep casting replay like this one.
Zerg's like: Do you feel in charge?
Yay another Broodwar cast! Thanks again for all the videos Mr. Falcon! :D
Not sure if it has already been mentioned, but GooJila's pro id is "KaL". One of the strongest protoss players during the later stages of pre-SC2 BW.
Holy shit Goojilla won most of the battles yet still lost the game
Goojilla with his magnificent damage outputting skills and zero strategic decision... romantic.
....5 seconds in, "That's probably why you clicked on this video." Yup, that's exactly why...
Holy crap. I've watched I think all the remastered games on your channel (you're awesome!), and I have to say that was one of the craziest games you've casted. Made me remember why I love BW. You are so funny
Just finished watching all your BW replays. Please post more!
Twice a week. :)
Keep up the good work man! Loving the broodwar
Hey Falcon! As always, I appreciate the BW casts. You are a hero to the Starcraft fanbase!
I'm pleased to hear some English commentary in BW Remastered games. Also Jaedong has 5500 minerals? Lel.
You left the resource/supply/apm meter off
Master Class from Zerg. Waiting for Protos to run out of resources.
So I have a question. I do not play broodwar. But how could toss have won this? It seems like the toss just battered the zerg's mineral lines and was far more cost efficient. Probably a fat finger. Did I bring it back?

You dont need to say that Archons dont care about pleague every single PvZ!

how does he get these games??!!?
Your Calvin as his dad avatar is the greatest thing I have seen today.
Goojilla vs. Bisu next, perhaps? That'd be interesting to watch!
Bargomorphic protoss vs... PROTOSS??? Now I’ve seen everything!!!!!!!!!
Is this on normal instead of fastest?
ENDLESS numbers!!!👏👏👏👏
briliant
Please show the full map at the begining, just let ppl pause and check. And the game is so great!
But every building has their -

Sound like your from the south ... what state you from
Hmm weird. Utah.
such a great channel
goojilla played fairly well.
Jaedong made it again ! and without Ultras ... Like the try for Guardians, but not really effective, seems that they are OP against AI ( like you said few times ) and also against low level newbies...
One of the greatest PvZ EVER! :))
Checked.
Zerg swarm.... so good 😁
goojilla is quite a warrior
Goojilla threw this. He could have ended early.
Very glad to have discovered your channel d00d! Wish i did earlier. Subbed! 😁
Hey you should check replays with boxer vs any of these guys [oops]reach , nal_ra ( Protoss ).. [nc]yellow , julyzerg (Zerg) .. red[nada] (Terran)
All I can think of off the top of my head from the boxer era .. you should check all those players out
can you give me this map
prayers have been answered
Those Corsairs from Goojilla were wasted resources ....
Have you considered a cocaster? He/She will for sure help you not miss anything important during the match, and those times you start talking about non-starcraft related stuff, they will be able to give you some conversation so you are not so lonely.
Hala Madrid
P won all battles, yet he lost the war. typical Z win
what a GG
Not one Ultralisk!! Tsk.
Georgi Zhukhov style attack: have more of everything than the enemy.
Jaedong was like soviet russia
Zerg take the advance at start with third base. Protoss do nothing!?! Cast game of Stork is a better protoss.
I can cast some Stork.
Cool thank you
new sub boi
Welcome aboard!
archons are awsome
so I had to take my computer out of its case and assemble it on cardboard to do some troubleshooting. that was fun. my computer is on cardboard right now
This is not your facebook wall.
ya m8 you probably aren't doing yourself any favors puttin' your ESD sensitive stuff on cardboard. cardboard can sting sometimes ;x altho it makes sense that you'd be doin' some troubleshooting if you do your troubleshootin' like that m8. bwhaahaha
i love brood wars, haha. i always root zerg
Fun to watch these games. Glad I don't play them lol
COMMENT! :D
Calling guardians "brood lords" lol
Nubia Anima Guardians are widely considered to be the most feared unit in starcraft history.
Jaedong should switch to mutas when ravager count gets to big and keep flood with lings to try waste storms.
Not saying he should go 20 mutas but have 10 mutas to pick of templars and ravager.
He do win more of those games when he mix in mutas:)
For me personaly(not a PRO) i always try to have 2 lurkers stationary on every expansion to save action.
I am a low apm macro zerg player that wins over people with higher apm mostly.
I am not saying apm=equal skill but it mostly says a loot about the player.
I am a bad micro player but make upp for it with good position against generaly faster and beter player.
And ofc like sun tzu dont attack enemys strongest postions, like massed ravager and archon and towers. Is what the protos player want.
Just do smaller attacks on weaker spots.
Like jaedong do when he do drops on base with no ravager and wait for protos army move out.
Thing is jaedong is realy good but throw it away by sometimes by hammer strong postions instead of doing multi drops winning games.
Omg Reavers are so obnoxious!!!
So Falcon is trying it become a pro caster.
An easy tip is to not put too much emphasis on mistakes. Don’t admit you made a mistake. Quickly brush it aside and move on. Don’t be meek, because it makes it seem like you don’t know what is going on. Almost be a braggart, like you are just pretending that you didn’t know.

You are the master explaining what is going on to use pleebs. Why should I listen to you if you are just as uncertain as to what is going on as I am. The caster has to take what is a vague blur of a match and clear it up for us. Make it crystal clear.
please refer Jaedong as Jay Dongle next cast
I clicked on this video cause you cast it, not the players. Don't sell yourself short. 😃
"broodlords"?! are you fucking kidding me? GUARDIANS. not some shitty units from shitty sc2.

@floorix
read the comments. seems your in the minority,
