    The green screen worked great! I love all aspects you covered about having a smaller wardrobe but my favourite is really less comparison. I find after shopping slower for years that I really do not get affected when people around me are encouraging impulse shopping, me to spend money I do not have or want to spend or say things like 'you need a new bag every season' (this one used to infuriate me but not anymore). I am happy to have the same handbag I had since 2005 😅

    Recently had surgery and my body shape has changed drastically. As a result, I can only wear certain shapes and fits. I was a size 10-12 petite and now must wear mostly maternity shaped clothing...size 12-14 but very loose and tent like. The surgery forced me to wear only certain items I had, and purchase a few stretch pants to adapt the wardrobe I had easily. All this has forced me to actually use and reuse the same items for six months now. Even it the reversal surgery changes my body back or close to it...I like the simplicity of less clothes less stress. The time saved is better spent on cooking for my excessive diet changes and exercise to re-calibrate body strength. Your list of reasons to try this Capsule wardrobe has proven true in my life...not by choice, but by default. I plan on watching the rest of your videos in order to clear out my closets and complete the hard task of letting go of all that no longer serves my life.

    Definitely agree that tidying out my closet has begun to help with other areas of life, such as toxic relationships. I found that simple things like focusing on why I didn’t like a piece of clothing got super specific to fit and fabric and breaking those things down to the fact that I value being comfortable in my clothes and still feeling put together eventually spread to other areas, like you mentioned, of if I’m not willing to be uncomfortable in my clothes, why am I willing to put up with a situation that brings me mentally or emotionally down. It has taught me to see the people who are helping me be the best I can versus the ones who aren’t. It seems a little strange to compare to clothes in conversation with people, but I totally agree. 😁

    I liked the background. It didn't distract from the content of the video and I honestly didn't realize it was a green screen until you said it at the end.

    I started with capsules and then decided to have a small wardrobe (55 pieces), it works better for me. After that I moved to other areas like books, cosmetics and makeup. I still struggle with makeup... but I realise that feeling light has done so much for me. I am a very visual person so I really appreciate that my things say something about me. I feel much more focused than before and put my energy in what is important.

    Hi, Erin. I love your content as always. I struggled w/ finding my own style for years until i figured out what works well for my body type & shape. When it comes to colors omg i love my colors so going monochrome just to downsize my wardrobe is a no no. I’ve lived w/ 2 huge closets all my life but clothes shopping is never easy for me since i always think how long can i wear the item i.e: what i’d do w/ it if it goes out of style. So now i only keep 1 pair of jeans. 1 pair of khaki. 3 dresses, 5 blouses, 3 t shirts & 2 shorts for all my dressing needs. Oh, also 2 sets of PJs. If i do go for clothes shopping, it’d only happen once a year during big sale season. I 100% agree w/ you that we don’t need to conform to fashion trend. By going minimalist i actually manage to practice my religion better. By not having to care a/ what others wear & stop comparing myself to others, i can actually think of other things. I ended up using money that i’d normally woukd budget for clothes toward healthier food item or appliances to support my hobbies. The green screen works nicely btw

    The green screen worked out great! It looks really cool! I want to narrow down my wardrobe even more and I think taking it to the capsule wardrobe level is the way to go! Thanks for the inspiration and insight as always! xx

    Really enjoy watching your videos! I'm truly glad that I found some people on youtube that truly produce quality content and have very thoughtful and organised topics to talk about Xx Regarding the capsule wardrobe matter, I don't think that I'll have one any time soon, just because my life wouldn't allow me to get away with the bare minimum, but I did minimize my wardrobe kind of drastically, and kept it that way since. I love it, because it pushes my creativity a LOT which is truly helpful for me, someone studying fashion design (I still have to keep up with fashion, even with a smaller amount of clothes). Overall I love love love you content, keep up the great work!!

    Very true. I definitely save time. I'm living out of my suitcase and it's easier getting ready. Is it clean? Good, wear it! Lol and yes I like my clothes more. When I shop I definitely think differently. If it's a"maybe" I don't buy it. I do take the time to occasionally snap pics of outfits to wear for work trips or vacations which takes some time but helps me plan and not have think about it later. I love having less. I always feel I still have too much but there is no right or wrong way to do it. Live a little! Great video 😊

    I was never purposely looking into living with a capsule wardrobe. But as I am living abroad for 5 months at the moment with only one suitcase of my stuff from home, I am kinda forced to live with a small amount of clothes and stuff in general. I really like hiw easy it is to overview your possessions, I know exactky what I have here and my closet here looks really nice and clean as well. And I obviously do save time in the morning when getting dressed, because there arent that many possible combinations. But to be honest, I do miss that. I love spending time in front of my closet at home and trying out different combinations and outfits. Its just like how other people would enjoy watching TV, I guess.
    I do own less today than I did a couple of years ago when I was younger. And it feels better to be less likely tempted by advertisements. And you are right when you say that basically ads want us to feel bad or to feel like something is missing. And I got stronger when it comes to this - I see outfits on other people, I know I like how it looks buti dont need to go out and buy it for myself - this is actually a really nice and relaxing feeling to me :)
    So in general, I am following your videos because I do want to live a life that is more environmental friendly and also better for the people in other countries, I dont care too much how many clothes I own exactly, but I do want my new purchases to reflect my values a bit better. :)

    Great points all round!! I already have a very small wardrobe, but I can't honestly say it's well curated yet. I'm at the stage where I really need to be replacing too-worn-to-(reasonably-)wear clothing and even adding some things to my wardrobe, but the buying processes makes me a little anxious so I keep putting it off... 😅 I want a small wardrobe that I really like (and then don't have to think much about) rather than just a small wardrobe I just sort of ended up with by accident...haha

    I found I have two capsule wardrobes. I work in a corporate environment so have to wear clothes but aren't my regular style. My second capsule is those clothes that bring me joy and often more expensive.

      Also, my capsule works best as hot and cold with some trans-seasonal pieces. Where I live, the seasons aren't distinct.

      👍I’ve heard of counting the work uniforms as a set as one piece in a capsule or having mini work capsule devoted to work clothes. I like that with those types of capsules it takes into account of the realistic aspect of having to wear work clothes at work and other clothes at home.

    I just separated my wardrobe into what contains polyester and what's eco friendly. My eco-friendly clothes make up a fifth of what I wear, so now I plan to replace my polyester clothes in stages but just not wear or wash them in the meantime.

    • @MyGreenCloset
      @MyGreenCloset  5 лет назад

      It's actually more sustainable to keep using what you have, even if it's polyester, than to replace them. You can get a Guppyfriend Bag to catch the microfibres when you wash them.

  • @littlepinkbullets
    @littlepinkbullets 6 лет назад

    Can I ask how often you put a wash on? I use either baking soda deodorant or a salt crystal, and both mean that especially in the summer I get sweat patches. I leave out to dry in the sun, but in the Uk the sun can be very rare!
    I find I have my favourite pieces and don’t use about half my clothes daily, but I also feel like I need two of everything. And at that point I wonder if I may as well just have a larger number of items, rather than carbon copies of the same 10 :/

      Victoria Greenhalgh I can do laundry only once a week. I can wear tops only once. so that I have a bigger capsule. I had to find out the amount that I need to still having a top to wear on laundry day plus one extra for unexpected things (spilling etc)

    • @MyGreenCloset
      @MyGreenCloset  6 лет назад

      I generally do laundry about every week, sometimes week and a half. A lot of clothes I wear at least a couple times before washing though, with certain tops or dresses I'll wear a thin tank/camisole, bodysuit or slip underneath which gives me a second wear.

    • @littlepinkbullets
      @littlepinkbullets 6 лет назад

      Thanks for your reply! I may have a look into getting some thin bodysuits for the cooler months :)
