Hello Everyone.

My son has already taken admission in VIT Chennai in CSE. His JEE Main rank is 25917, General Caste, West Bengal domicile.. Should participate for JOSSA for admission in NIT or IIIT for CSE/IT and ECE? Only NIT or IIIT for CSE/IT and ECE. Which NIT or IIIT your suggestion..?

But what changes in curriculum will these IIITs do, for freshers this year, considering the ongoing covid 19.
You should clarify that only IIIT Hyderabad, Allahabad, Banglore and Delhi are good...
Other IIITs are not so good..
I am itself an IIITA Alumni but still I recommend you to, if you are getting a IIT or a Top NIT then go for it.. ( except IIITH)

@@getmeket3022 You must look at the complete picture, IIIT B passout strength was 90 in 2020, hence higher average placements. Compare that IIIT Allahabad which had an avg placement of 21 LPA (IT+ECE combined both Btech and DD and MTech) with 350 students similar for top 3 NITs for combined CS/IT and ECE branch, pick out 90 students from there, their median would be near 30 LPA most probably. And one factor you didn't consider is the *Return of Investment* , In Top NITs and IIITA, the total fees is 1/3 rd of IIIT B whose fees is whopping 23 Lakhs !! Hence Top NITs are definitely better than IIIT B overall, only advantage would be location and also maybe research and coding Culture (which basically what top IIITs are known for). IIIT B also misses out in campus life (what will you get in 10 acres ?).
And btw Ece never had 27 LPA in IIIT B, overall median was 24, do you expect ECE would have more than that ?
Basically if you are interested in pursuing careers like data scientist or ai architect and want to study cs 24 by 7 and pursue research iiits are for you.
But IIITs have high fees structure or Campus life is also not so good and workload is also there
So, Still IITs or Top NITs are best option

I think only experience will tell, college life can be good or bad and there must be reasons apart from interest in your branch as well...
iiits have one of the best teachers, good placements, advance curriculum

How Plagerism Policy ? IIIT Copied Syllabus from Google? Lead by example.
IIT , NIT too have same curriculum and assessment Structure. I think if your not getting IIT or NIT then you must go for IIIT.
The course structure is a lot different from abroad Universities. Most top universities in abroad gives you admission into the university and not a any particular course. They provide a opportunity to explore many areas of interest let it be any subject and then you choose your major mostly in 2nd year where as in IIITs you read mostly CSE starting from 1st year still there are few similarities like plagiarism and good faculties .
IIITsare probably the best in India after IITs for CSE and because CSE is in high demand they are able to make the most out of it .....but please don't compare it with Top abroad Universities ......they have very few things in common .
For e.g:- Stanford campus area is over 8,000 acres ,it has more Olympic medal holders and Nobel laureates than many big countries , it has hardly any comparison with even India's every Institute combined.....and the there are many more like Stanford..... Harvard,MIT,Yale, Oxford,etc.

For computer science today, almost all elite universities have started giving direct admission. Rest all majors are free to choose.

Iiit bhubaneswar avg is 11 to 12 this year. Pune avg is 7 lpa. Hope it helps

I have heard from the seniors that its going to take 3 yrs to complete the campus work of IIIT PUNE (My friends are there in pune) . Since iiit bhubaneswar has a good placement record so it is a plus point too. Can't say much about pune. Rest is your choice. Hope you get the college
