I am rated 50% bilateral Pes Planus/Plantar Fasciitis. Are there any secondaries I should be looking at? Or, ask for a higher rating?
MEPS diagnosed me with flat feet. Med board findings said my flat feet were aggravated by service but I was only rated by the VA for plantar fasciitis.
From m21-
V.iii.1.B.5.h. Evaluating Metatarsalgia and Plantar Fasciitis
Since metatarsalgia refers to pain in the forefoot while plantar fasciitis is associated with pain in the heel, the symptoms should generally not overlap and separate evaluations may be assigned unless assessment of the evidence reveals that separate evaluation would be in violation of the pyramiding rules at 38 CFR 4.14.
Got 10 PF no service connection just said the Boots killed my feet and went to foot doctor
I got both flat feet and plantar fasciitis. Flat feet causes plantar fasciitis I thought they combined them together for 50%
Your flat feet rating overrides your Plantars at 50% - absolute solid rating for foot conditions.
- Clay
@TheCivDiv I do not understand. I thought plantar fasciitis and pes planus get combined for 50% I got both conditions and my pes planus is severe its listed in my medical records it's so bad it causes me to roll my ankles constantly, have bilateral chronic ankle pain, plus my ankles lock up and cramp at night when laying in bed. All of that has been documented because docotors did test on me and find them.
if you have metatarsalgia(front of foot )and plantar fasciitis (heel of foot ) you can be rated for both!
Didn’t discuss metatarsalgia. We discussed flat/Plantars and other.

Thanks clay for all your great info.
Hey clay, been diving into your library and ran across this video…Back in 2011 I got out and was service connected for “Bilateral Plantar Fasciitis.” And it was service connected but only rated at 0% can I submit for a rate increase, and what should I expect? Semper Fi brother!
@hectormelo5309 yes you can and you should expect a C&P exam. The ratings will be based in 38 CFR and those symptoms are spelled out.
If you rate the increase, submit the increase. Found here: ruclips.net/video/Q-ilpDMX35I/видео.htmlsi=q5DdrKD-kvKO_vYS

Thanks Clay 👍
HOLY BOLGONA THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

flat feet is when the VA gives you thick insoles?
Great video needed this question I got rated in the last month at 30% for both flat feet and Plantar fasciitis, could I go secondary plantar fasciitis secondary to flat feet without any DX since its been less than a year? Thanks Trying to get that 50% if possible
The nexus doesn’t mean anything at this point. The only thing that matters are your symptoms. They neither rated 50% for flat feet or they don’t

Great video Clay i was wondering can we do a 1 on 1 like the other long videos?

I have a flat feet claim submitted I’m waiting on the decision. My question is I have looked at some of my medical records from entering the military service. I can not find the trajectory of my weight gain I plan on putting in a claim for my diabetes. How do I get the records for my continuous weight gain from the time that I sustained my foot injuries in-service till I was discharged after service and continue to gain weight until my diagnosis of diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol problems
Whatever is the cause or aggravation of your weight gain you need to make and create the argument. Time is a factor here as well as tons of others. Talk to your doc.
- Clay
If there is no medical evidence or medical record but your MOS or Rate involved working on flight deck, excessive PT and stairwells from being on a carrier there is no way to get rated for this?
At a minimum veterans will have their entrance exam as the baseline. And MOST veterans (especially OIF/OEF/OIR veterans) will have exit exam. But yes, duties and responsibilities could be used to support your claim.

as an ABF i could never service connect my flat feet to wearing boot... i had to appeal it, and used my entry medical exam from MEPS to show i had flat feet when i went it and got worse with wearing boots. It took almost 5 years but i was finally awarded 30% just for that condition alone.
@@LuisRodriguez-vk2ymThank you and being an ABF you know how the ABE life is, appreciate your service. I did not get to bring up foot pain because of how we worked with no time to go to medical and always being over worked. On my exit I had a long list of items and it looks like feet did not make it to the exit exam. I don’t have flat feet but I do have chronic foot pain. Do you think this is something that I can still receive a rating for?
My diagnosis was for 1 foot, by the time i got a nexus pain was in both feet and the c&p exam was for just the 1 foot. Still waiting decision, if they rate only 1 foot should i file a HLR or file for aggregation?
Got max rating for flat feet, got rated for policemans heel also, but that did not give me a second rating due to the Pyrmiding rule. But 17 years of having flat feet without treatment has messed up my ankles, knees, and back so bad I have ratings for every one of them also.
been trying to get plantar faciitis as a secondary to flat, got denied 2x, duh ///// I'm already rated for plantar fasciitis dduuuhhh
I was just denied, didn't find a link between service and current diagnosis. But the favorable findings said they see the events. I'm Confused, they confirmed service injury and gave me a diagnosis at C &P exam, Isn't this the Link?
Favorable Findings identified in this decision:
The evidence shows that a qualifying event, injury, or disease had its onset during your service. Service treatment records show complaints of right knee pain in service.
You have been diagnosed with a disability. VA examination dated January 27, 2024 diagnosed right knee strain with osteoarthritis.
In you’re medical records will
It show if you’re feet were diagnosed as flat prior to joining?
@clay the one question i did have is piratically pretraining to myself i have gotten multiple diagnoses in my military career some have diagnosed me with congenital flat feet and others have diagnosed me with acquired flat feet both from podiatry with me having both of these in my service treatment record do you think that this will be in my favor or against me?
You have the in-service event. What is your current diagnosis?
- Clay
@@TheCivDiv acquired but also I still have 3 months until I start my BDD process so I can still get an updated one as well.
@@mebsr12 ahhhh? You’re active - don’t worry about it. Follow this list and let it be. www.civdivonline.com/bdd-claims-active-duty

Joined the Navy with flat feet. Can I still claim plantar fasciitis?
I got 50% for flat feet. Idk how but that’s what they gave me. Was expecting nothing
What did they do during the c&p exam?
Great video!
THANK YOU! Means a lot especially coming from you.
- Clay
question I was diagnosed with flat feet on my interest exam mile asymmetric I’ve gotten denied twice for flat feet. What do you recommend and thanks for the information. I really needed this.
do a HLR and mention this, if not, then appeal it, it worked for me
Does bilateral Plantar faucitis give a bilateral factor? Or are they rated as one thing?
Yes it does. I got rated for both feet and the bilateral factor.
What if the meps diagnoses flat feet?
This your basis for SC becomes aggravation. You’ll need evidence from service showing aggravation (made the condition worse).
- Clay
@@TheCivDiv My VA doctor put in his note service connected is that enough
i had to appeal mine to finally get 30% after showing the entry exam diagnosed with mild flat feet
@@LuisRodriguez-vk2ym thanks
I am rated at 30% fo4 flat feet😂😂😂
me too.
