How hurricane resistant are these homes and waterways? Last time I was there they were moving boats to the west side of the island to pull motors and sink the boats to keep them safe and had containers strapped to the ground to protect belongings.
There was a vids about 6 months ago called how do hurricanes effect Belize, don’t remember if that shows how hurricane resistant homes are but it does talk about insurance. Not sure if that helps.

Just visited Caye and Belize and much different from BVI's. People & locals soo very nice in BVI's and here same vibe. No steel guitar music here more of a Jamaican music vibe, ands local club bands are great here. The first thing I noticed was no roaming chicken, Cows, horses donkeys absolutely none, beef & steak are really not great options. If you like Conch, Chicken and Snapper every day this is your home! the outer reef system about 1/2 to 1 mile off shore where the water waves break is best place for snorkeling and not off the beaches, so you need a boat for sure. Fun place to visit and recommend the Caye & San Pedro islands to stay on for your trip
Definitely understand your opinion but canal front projects in Cayman Islands, Bahamas, Miami & numerous other Caribbean countries/ cities in Hurricane prone zones would disagree with this opinion. The sales and rental markets dictate the price. Also the quality of the homes. In any case appreciate the comment and Belize isn't for everyone but that is completely OK!

We have a couple videos on this but overall I would budget in the range of $180- $250/ square foot depending on finishings and build material!
