2 Weeks - Feeding Check In for our ENCs in their Urban Worm Bag - Summertime Feedings!

- These new European Nightcrawlers (ENCs) are just crushing it lately! In 2 weeks there isn't an ounce of food left, and I cannot be more thrilled. This week's feeding has more food, as opposed to last weeks which we saw in today's check in, that had a bunch of avocado shells mixed in for facilitating more wormballs, and hopefully more cocoons soon!
Next feeding we are going to try and get some banana peels in, something a little thicker and more intensive for them to burn through. But for now, this week's feeding has a bunch of strawberry tops and a smushed peach, so that will be very popular with the wormingtons!
The only yellow flag at this point is the dryness in the bin. I can tell it's starting to get a little dryer in there, thus the added water. It may just work out that each feeding we add a little water into the bin to help keep the Urban Worm Bag from drying out. Obviously if you've been around and saw the rough winter the bin went through (or flooding?), I'm very nervous about adding water. But as the bin continues to develop and get food worked in, I'm confident it will even out in time.

The official Earth Box store has a lot of color combinations, so it's worth going direct. I would suggest getting the casters, totally worth it and SO helpful. Also where you can get the automatic watering system made officially for their system. *

Wow, your UWB is really filling up! I was told by the person who gave me my ENC's that they really like calcium, so they get a lot of powdered egg shells. I even gave them some chicken bones! No sign of crawling on the walls of your UWB despite the storms, so they must be happy.
~ Sandra
Ohh that's interesting, I wonder what type of soil they must have done well in where there was calcium. I have some old dog bones the pups have gnawed I need to get rid of, maybe I'll toss them in for a slow work down!
