How To Care l Montblanc Fountain Pen

Montblanc writing instruments are crafted to be timeless, designed to last for years to come. Proper care is essential to keep these instruments writing beautifully. Here we illustrate the best way to clean your fountain pen, as well as offer a helpful guide to refilling the ink.
After cleaning, the formation of condensation in the cap is inevitable. It can loosen residue from dried ink, causing the color of the new ink to change. For this reason, the spring and cap should always be cleaned with a lint-free damp cloth. To prevent leakage, the fountain pen should always be freshly filled with ink. Always wear it feather up.
Important note:
It is very important to clean the fountain pen regularly when using permanent ink, as the high solids content in the ink can lead to deposits in the ink feed. Cleaning should be done about every 14 days.

@@dariusbogdaniulian Absolutely worth it. Got my set gifted 2 years ago, the price increase makes that they're still worth roughly the same as new. My parents both have almost everything from the meisterstück line, most things are now worth more than new price. Also, pen now is 735 euro for hte 146, if you consider lifetime (30+ years) and cost of ink (I write a lot, university student with all notes on paper, one MB bottle lasts me 2 years), it might even be cheaper than an ordinary ballpoint or other pen

Thanks for these instructions. I got my grandpa's old 252 from the 1950's from my grandma, it's engraved with his name as well. Cleaning it now and excited to get it working again!

I had one of these 30 years ago, it just leaked and leaked and then leaked some more….
It went back to the shop where I bought it from but to no avail.
It went in a drawer for about 20 years and then was found and eBayed - I don’t miss it and I would never have one again

I wish Mont Blanc would tell us about drying when not planning on refilling immediately. The last thing we want is watered down ink!
Air dry with cap off for a few hours? Piston up/ down position for a few hours while air drying...etc?

I've been using a 149 for 14 years. It's never skipped and I've never cleaned it. I have "cleaned" other pens, and it's always a goddamned mess and the water never comes out clear. So I give up and just fill it with whatever ink, and it mixes with the old ink, and the color is wrong.

I’m surprised it says to clean out the ink every three months. I thoroughly clean it between every ink fill, otherwise my MB inks would cross contaminate each other.
