    -finish Earth Temple
    -take huge hiatus from playthrough
    -say it's because he needs to "become more familiar" with the game, despite the fact that he's alreadly 80% through it
    -finally start playing it again
    -just as bad and promptly has to look up a guide.

    • @jloe01
      @jloe01 6 лет назад +73

      Fatal Temper Gaming yes anyone can critique but when someone like arin knocks a game like oot for having "bad" mechanics, even though it's his own damn fault, no one can take his "critiques" seriously anymore. He complains about there being so much waiting when fighting enemies like wolfos or stalfos even though they're pretty simple to deal with and don't take that long to deal with. A wolfos can be taken down with ONE JUMP ATTACK if you do it at the right time but arin always does the jab when it's exposed and he doesn't wait for it to attack first so he always ends up attacking when it blocks. Same with stalfos you can stun it right after it attacks, and arin has tried it with the hookshot, but he misses most of the time and just completely disregards the deku nuts because he sees them as pointless unless you're trying to be more "technical". And he does the same thing with stalfos like when he attacks a wolfos, he only does the jab and just swings his sword mindlessly even though it's blocking. He talks about how he loves it when a game doesn't tell you much and you have to find out what you're supposed to do, but when it DOES tell him what to do, he always ignores the dialogue and doesn't know what to do and then he completely contradicts himself when he complains about a game not telling him what to do. I could go on but this comment's already longer than it should be.

      [Jump cut where they obviously use a walkthrough]
      Arin: [Starts beat boxing and rapping like a 12 year old who just heard who 50 cent was.]

      @Spammycrow 10 лет назад +11

      FFH I think you missed the point he was making in the Sequelitis. The section of gameplay between getting the Big Key in ALTTP and travelling to the item chest is still suspenseful, but in a different way as watching a non-interactive cutscene. Of course it's still up to your own personal tastes to help you decide which method you prefer (as Arin basically said himself at the end of the video) but my point is that they're still both perfectly viable methods of conveying tension in a game. Go back to the video and listen to his wording carefully - I think his preference has got more to do with the rule of 'show, don't tell' than his ADHD. He specifically says 'I don't wanna just see Link being excited; I wanna be excited'.
      I agree that Arin drew quite a few short-sighted conclusions in his analysis, but that definitely wasn't one of 'em.

    It's not even the fact he lacks skill that hurts so much watching this, it's:
    1. His pride in his inability to solve puzzles. Like he says "I'm stupid ok" and "Bet we're going to get comments about this" but... joking about a flaw doesn't make the flaw go away. If he admitted he struggles with games and didn't yell or blame the game for his difficulty with the puzzles it'd be much more tolerable. It's not the game's fault.
    2. The absolute hypocrisy.
    3. This is probably a personal thing but i loathe that "sassy" stereotypically gay voice they both pull.

You can call me a fanboy, but this game is piss easy on Normal Mode. Was I expecting 100%? No. Was I expecting compitence? Yes, in fact. From two grown men who are apparently too stupid to see the instructions on the top right corner of the screen. If you can't see that, you've got problems. That aside, their jokes are only slightly better than the infamous DSP, but that doesn't mean a damn. They are still annoying, and quite personally, Arin should've given this playthrough to someone else better at Zelda than him. I don't care if this was just two guys having fun, that does not excuse stupidity. Thank you for tuning in to Dale's Rant Time.

    Arin complains that 3D Zelda games became about waiting and don't have the same flow as the 2D ones did, and he blames Z-targeting for that.
    But come on man, you can't wear those rose-tinted glasses forever. If you play a game that you yourself admit is slower paced, maybe you should get on the game's level instead of trying to play every zelda game the exact same way.
    Every Zelda game, hell - any game in general can be piss easy if you take the time to play the way the game expects you to instead of trying to play it in a way you think it SHOULD be played.
    And 3D Zelda games are not worse than the 2D ones for this change in gameplay style, just as how making a game more balanced and fair through fixing its physics does not automatically make it worse than a previous one (Super Castlevania IV versus the first NES game)
    And on the topic of tutorials, Arin has recently died a couple of times on the tutorial and first couple levels of Mario Galaxy 1, despite obviously having played it before. Games nowadays have these overlong tutorials and have to explain everything because people like him pay very little attention to what's going on around them
    it's one of the reasons why I miss having Jon around, because he at least was able to call Arin out on his lack of attention while Dan just soaks it in

      He just sees all the silly things people do in games and speedruns and wants to emulate that, or come up with his own shit when he hasn't even mastered the game itself. He doesn't realize the hours of practice these people put into the game, and just assumes it's easy to do. On top of that he assumes that anything can be killed by anything for some stupid reason.

    Okay, it's one thing to not pay attention to something right in front of you like that fucking button that turns the downward wind gusts off at the beginning of the Wind Temple, but to forget something that you already did recently AND be dumber than a god damn newborn in figuring out how to beat the boss that you JUST GOT DONE BEATING?! HOLY FUCK, Arin, I never realized just HOW MUCH YOU COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT ADVENTURE GAMES LIKE ZELDA.
    I'm sorry for all the caps lock, but shit like this really makes my blood boil, especially since I'm a die-hard Zelda fan myself. This seriously is DSP levels of fucking inept, I swear to God.

    They are actually worse than DSP.

      I think Arin is terrible, but he isn't that bad.

      Arin most certainly is, but his commonality with DSP isn't in how bad he is, but his inability to learn how to play and how he blames other things rather than acknowledge his ineptitude.

    We really need more game grump ones, so many awful playthroughs on par with dipshitphil.

    It's amazing to me that when this game came out I was 10 years old and beat it easily but two grown men can't do the most basic shit in this game.

      It's because they're too arrogant, lazy, and/or stupid to read.

    • @lu3829
      @lu3829 6 лет назад +3

      It's because Arin doesn't like being told what to do so he skips parts telling him what to do, but when he gets to a part where he has to figure out what to do, he blames the game for a lack of direction.

    This kind of shit is why I unsubbed from them years ago. Jon could navigate 3d space while Danny can't and doesn't even try. And while Arin can, he has no patience which impedes his progress more than if he just paid a sliver of attention. And the "I'm an idiot but this is bs" excuse consistently used in this and Majora is the most aggravating thing.
    Jon and Arin worked because they both played games, had differing opinions, and would express that. Imagine if Jon were there in place of Danny: less Yes man, more games played between them, less excuse making, more patience from Arin since he doesn't have to play every 3d game.

    7:30 No, those graphics aren't improved. Characters models aren't different, the blur goes against the idea behind the cell-shading, and the original game will actually look less dated in a couple of years than this version.
    12:05 Ironically, Arin is probably someone like that.
    24:48 That's because in earlier Zelda games, it was a Hookshot, not a Grapling Hook.

      Honestly this version still looks good
      No idea why people always have to be like “ uh askually this remaster will look worse than the OG eventually” when its already been years and it still looks good

    It's almost impressive how incapable Arin is of thinking he might ever be doing things wrong. Just keep doing the same thing over and over, surely it'll work *this* time

    I think the crowning stupidity moment in WW for them was thinking the Firefly was a fucking fairy.
    Also something thats infuriating is that he always complains when he dies. But wherever theres an opportunity to get a Piece of Heart he doesnt want it.

    For those dissing the guy who made this this ..Arin opened himself up when he stuck out his opinion,if he had good opinions and wasn't biased and contradicting in his statements than yeah he wouldn't deserve to get ripped on

      Bingo. There's a reason why the majority of their fans are super-obsessed weirdos, and it aint because they're comedy legends or musical prodigies. These guys are proxy friends for hopeless losers the world over.

      This isn't even close to them at their worst. It doesn't include all the terrible things they've done outside of Let's Plays that other compilations like this show.
      But yes, the comments on their videos are infuriating.

    this is why i stopped watching gamegrumps and started watching tbfp, they have the same style, in that thry have two commentators talking about random stuff over the video, but they dont do the shit that arin does, and they pay attention to what the fuck is going on in the game
