    From what I've read they took Chris out and blended him with Mike mostly for time constraints. And I completely agree that Zac looked way more like Kerry

      The director also said that having Chris would have made it too depressing and there were concerns that people wouldn’t believe it to be true because it was so horrible.

    I loved the film especially as someone who grew up watching them in their heyday (specifically Kevin & Kerry) despite the stuff they left out. I heard someone say this should've been a tv series and I might have to agree. If Iron Claw were a mini-series, I think it would've fleshed a few things out a little better but still, very great movie. The end scene was a real tear jerker.

    I enjoyed the movie, but for Ric Flair, I think they should've found someone who's voice didn't crack every time he went "wooo"!

    The months leading up to the movies released - as I was super stoked about it- the whole time I thought Zac Efron was playing kerry and the movie was focused on Kerry, it wasn't until sitting in my seat in the theater that I was swerved

    The guy playing Harley Race was so dead-on I thought they'd just ported in old Harley Race footage for a second.
    The guy playing Kerry was good, although it took a lot of getting used to to see a Kerry who looked like he was five-foot-five, when the real Kerry was a towering fella.

    The scene that stands out to me was after Kerry died and he and Frirz had their physical confrontation Fritz ruled by intimation and fear and in that moment all fear Kevin ever had of his father disappeared and i think the actor who played fritz did a great job in the background when kevin is carrying kerry in the house part sad kerry is dead part sad that now he lost kerry and kevin the last two sons he had part surprised his rule of his family is over

    I really liked the movie other than some timeline issues , but I expected a little of that before hand so I wasn't disappointed . Other than the terrible Ric Flair casting (in his promo sounded nothing like him , but was decent while in the ring ) the rest was cast pretty well although Kerry should have been bigger , but facially looked kinda like him . But I cant gripe much about that stuff because it has got to be really hard to find a perfect cast to fill roles of such unique humans !! To find actors with the size , look AND acting chops all in one is damn near impossible ! So I dug the movie all in all .

    I knew 100% of the story (as much as any other fan does) and I had very low hopes for this movie going in because of the casting/trailer, I didn't think you could act taller, but I didn't find myself noticing it while watching the film especially seeing the insane shape they got into. Despite the inaccuracies I found it a rather gripping, and of course sad, film. Maybe its because I went in with low expectations but i'd easily give it a 7.5 outta 10

    The Von Erich story had way too much to tell to be a movie. It should have been a Netflix series. I mean, they had to cut out one of the brothers committing suicide. They didn't show Kerry being f'd up in the ring. They didn't show Kerry's prosthetic coming off in the ring. They didn't really tell how bad Kerry was with drugs. They didn't show one of the main reasons Kerry killed himself...because he was about to go to jail. They didn't show Fritz pointing a gun at Kevin and saying, "you're not man enough to kill yourself." And Kevin saying "it takes more guts to live, dad." They didn't show Fritz getting cancer. They didn't show David dying in Japan. They didn't show how crazy the Von Erich's were...sure they showed them partying a little, but nothing like they were described, etc. There was just so much more to the story. The entire movie felt so rushed. The Flair actor was terrible. The guy playing Kerry was way too small. I get that it's not easy finding a guy that size, but at least make him as tall as Zac. He looked like a dwarf compare to Kevin and David.
    The main positives were the actors playing Fritz, David, and The Freebirds were excellent.

    Good movie, but Shane's right about Brody. Honestly, the guy playing Bruiser Brody I thought was supposed to be Billy Jack Haynes. Bruiser was huge. And in my personal opinion, they made Flair look better than he did in his entire career. Also, they take a shot at Ultimate Warrior that only a wrestling fan would get lol

  • @tedingram516

    It can't be any worse than the Jesse Ventura bio, that was brutal. Unfortunately making movies has so many things to deal with budgets time etc. But I'm sure it's decent for those who aren't knowledgeable about the story and for those fans who are remember it's a movie. 🤔✌

    Shane is being very kind to the film. I didn't think it was very good. It's so historically inaccurate. The Ric Flair?! Holy shit I will say Fritz and David mostly resembled the real people. The guy that played Kerry honestly shouldn't played Chris. They glossed over so much and the timeline of events is way off.
    The best part to Shane's point is showing how Kevin persevered.

      Yeah the guy who played kerry? 5'7 175 lbs at most? Kerry 6'2 260 lbs. Not even close. He was shorter than his girlfriend when he went back to Fritz's house after winning the IC title and giving Fritz that gun. That was ridiculous 😂 I could've played a better Kerry at even 5'11 230 lbs

    The casting of White as Kerry was REALLY bad.
    Acting was OK, but no physical resemblance whatsoever.
    Kerry was pure muscle, which made the amputation and handicap even more striking, and they failed to convey that.

  • @GaryRPeters
    @GaryRPeters 2 месяца назад

    With the casting of Flair, I wonder if the director figured it's not really about him, so let's just get someone to play the role simply because he's part of the story. Or if he had been spot on would it seem like too much of an impersonation and be the the thing everyone talked about? I really wonder, because I feel like they could have thrown a rock and hit someone who could do a better Flair. I know people who can, I'm sure you all do too. I think they absolutely could have found someone better if they wanted to. So was it deliberate to just have the actor play seemingly a generic wrestler who is supposed to be Ric Flair?

  • @taker68
    @taker68 7 месяцев назад

    I think Flair is weak cause they didn't want him to overwhelm the main story. He's not the focus. I don't mind some changes or deletions as long as the main idea is true to life.

    • @MrBam79
      @MrBam79 6 месяцев назад +1

      I think you're absolutely right and quite honestly, it just wasn't really that important in the grand scale of things. I kinda feel a bit sorry for the actor because, generally speaking, he wasn't really that much further away from the real Flair than most of the other actors were from their real life counterparts. I think people just had much higher expectations of him.

    • @kpllc4209
      @kpllc4209 6 месяцев назад

      I like how they made sure to portray Ric's drinking and partying in the few moments of screen time he gets, yet we never see Kevin and Kerry in the drug induced comas they would often show up to work in.

    • @taker68
      @taker68 6 месяцев назад

    • @kpllc4209
      @kpllc4209 6 месяцев назад

      @@taker68 The true story is much sadder than the movie which kind of portrays the tragedy as a string of bad luck. They show a little drug use but anyone that knows the story know that was the story. It basically implies Kerry's accident happen while he was NWA champ, glossing over that he was considered too unreliable to keep the title long. Nothing about Kevin being legendary for his wacked out behavior in the dressing rooms and for no showing events especially when he became the head of WCCW and they were shows he was promoting.

    • @taker68
      @taker68 6 месяцев назад

      @@kpllc4209 Yes, I've seen many documentaries on them. They cut a lot out and made it more a family tragedy than a cautionary tale which it could have been. Kevin was part of the making of the film so they aren't going to portray him poorly. I liked the film but there could be another version that gets the craziness more.

  • @sampleoffers1978

    Queen film editing is pretty offensive you can't believe Mike Myers went along with it. It's thought casting does commentary on people, you can't not think that and it's fascinating. Question to industry people is did those young men give impression of struggle with sexuality identity issues or sexual traumas ...and you cant ask anybody but something was off with the father. Very strange there would be vendetta with the family on any level.

  • @unclestinky6388

    It's ironic that they did not use actual "sports entertainers" to portray wrestlers. Given that today's wrestlers are portrayed as actors on the TV shows, delivering lines and acting out vignettes. The fit won't be perfect either way, but you'd think that casting a modern sports entertainer to play a wrestler would be a closer fit than casting an actor to play a wrestler. But, the truth is, the acting on the wrestling TV shows is wooden and not believable. And apparently not even workable
