    Congratulations on your new mill. I know you'll enjoy running it.
    Check out how Woodland Mills keeps their carriage rollers clean by having wire rope (cable) rub against the wheel.

      Thanks for the advice! I had planned to shape clothes hanger wire to ride along the rails and castors to keep them clean. If that does not work, a wire rope might be just what I need.

    If you want longer rails go get 1 piece rails from a metal shop so you won't have the bumps in-between the rails. Get them to drill it for you.
    Make you another set of the log hold down, to hold the longer logs. Put brake fluid on the rail every time you run the sawmill. To lube your rollers...
    Also use the saw dust to fill in holes in your yard.

      This was our tax return money that year. I don't usually have this kind of money either but I guarantee it has paid for itself by now.

    This reminds me of my early days of milling - it was this spring. I suggest you get some skids milled next. Get it off the ground. You can tap that ridge down with a hammer. Smooth it right out. Don't forget to loosen the tension on the band when you're done. And get you some wood dogs. You will hit them. You don't want to hit the metal ones.

      Thanks! I oughta make an update video. I've actually got this sawmill on a trailer now and have gone through a couple thousand board feet. I still have metal wood dogs but I'm not a huge fan of the design, and I've gone through several blades and now use Woodmizer. Cuts like butter! I'm actually selling some milled cutting boards and chess boards today at an event.

    Looks like Red Cedar that you cut.

    • @bergercreek

      Yes, this is eastern red cedar. Since this video, I've put the mill on a trailer, added 4 feet to the rails, and cut a couple thousand board feet of lumber. Thanks for watching!

    Has anybody bought 3x4 angle iron,3/8 lately/ how much is it? just wondering. I hit the scrap yard every once in a while. Got a Grandpa fisher stove, angle iron and some other dodads recently. Quite a bit of angle Iron cost me $35 plus $10 for him to cut it into pieces . It was an old trailer frame. Heavy duty/ 5/16 3by 4Motor is what/ A Predator?

    Castor wheels, just drill a hole so you can mount on some stainless steel wire or other sweep to both sized.

      I saw someone put bent coat hanger wire in place. I imagine brushes would work better though.

    Thanks, was looking at getting one of these too! Do the 20% coupons work on this?

      It's a wonderful machine! It is extremely capable and the biggest downside is the 8ft max cut length, which can be lengthened with an extension kit.

    Shipping weight is over 700#, were you able to unbox everything yourself by hand?

    • @bergercreek
      @bergercreek  2 года назад

      Most of it came in small enough pieces,, except the head with the engine.. I had my wife hold the box still while I lifted the carriage out, and I walked it on my knees until I was clear. Same with putting the carriage on the rails. It was very, very difficult and, although I managed myself, I would recommend a second person. I think it weighs around 200lbs+ and it's really bulky.

    Hey if you don’t mind I’m gona order one may I ask how long from the day you ordered it did it take to arrive at your house?

    • @bergercreek
      @bergercreek  2 года назад

      It took me 8 days from ordering to arrival. I hear others have had to wait up to a month but I think it will normally arrive in under 14 days.

    What kind of wood is that?

    • @bergercreek
      @bergercreek  2 года назад

      The first log I cut was Eastern Red Cedar. They are rot resistant and make good siding and posts.
