    One question
    Many times while writing the chemical equations sometimes we write the charge on the top rigjt of the symbol for ex Fe²+ and sometimes is their valency for ex Mg²+ so how exactly are we supposed to know that when they are talking about the charge and when they are talking about valency or i am totally confused and the answer is something else please help somebody

    what is the charge of strontium, when it has 38 protons? 2+8+8+8+8+8=42-4 electrons is a +4 charge isn't it??

    • @jaycezeniuk2506
      @jaycezeniuk2506 6 лет назад

      the element would have 30 neutrons, am I missing a step?? just doesn't make sense with the "trends of the ionic charge" photo I found on google. I almost feel like that periodic table would be inaccurate for a lot of elements... this is why I'm searching for the answer to find the charge with the octet rule.

    doesnt the 3rd shell hold up to 18?

    • @MeTaPhEx
      @MeTaPhEx 6 лет назад

      Yes but but if you have a total of 20 electrons, you would fill the 4th shell with 2 instead of filling the 3rd shell with 10, its kinda weird but it makes sense.
