Yes I completely agree, I have also been seeing a lot of “Body Positivity” but people are actually eating themselves to death, I am so for being confident in you but once it comes to being very unhealthy, that is self abuse and shouldn’t be taut to younger people.
@@cinnamorollgirl08 Body positivity is a damn joke anyway, for someone who is underweight. For some reason, it only applies to overweight people. But when you‘re underweight, it is apparently fine to laugh about it? What the fuck?
Vanity and narcissism. I definitely blame women for being behind most of the toxicity online. Most of us are using it to express ourselves or “go live” during or to discuss toxic situations. Or we blast other people online and start hate groups. We also drag other women by peering into their photo backgrounds and criticizing items in the background. We drag a woman whose makeup isnt done right or her wig or feet dont look right and then it goes viral. Some of the gays are guilty of this behavior too. Women bash other business women and then compare and compete with other brands. Or they fight over men. Men have their messy ways but i think the brunt of the toxicity is bc of females. Im female myself and have to own it.
I was one of those people who didn’t care to lie or exaggerate on social media and it only brought me issues. It’s insane how many wrong assumptions people will make about you if you dont care to portray yourself in the best possible light. What I realized is that most people are so obssessed with only putting their absolute best on social media that if you don’t care to and just do casual posts people will then assume that IS your best.
I've learned to curate my online presence better. Unfollowed the "influencers", thirst trappers, and basically fake and/or unattainable lives of others. In place, I'm following art galleries, space agencies, travel places, Nat geo, and food blogs. It feels more wholesome and less like we need to one up on each other. In addition, I've also started balancing what I post as well. Balancing the positive experiences with the negatives. Sure it might feel somewhat embarrassing to post a bad experience, but posting only your positive experiences only hinders the original goal of creating a better online experience for everyone. Try it! You'll feel good :)
I follow business owners, authors, animal videos, photographers and only 1-2 influencers just for marketing ideas and housekeeping ideas. Even so, I have to unplug bc its never ending content and can be distracting

Then I come back to RUclips to watch some' social media Detox ' videos 😁 which might tell that what I have seen on Fb is just the highlighted parts of people's life. RUclips isn’t a time waster for me. RUclips is the place where I can learn.
I wish people could actually UNDERSTAND this video. Everything they mention in this video is truth. Social media effects in thoughts, moods, create jealously, the more jealous people became the more they hate you, perfectionsim.

I've now not had an account for about 17years . I have now got 2 beautiful daughters that are desperate for ether Snapchat, Facebook or tiktok. I'll never let them have whilst living at home . I try to explain the why's but unfortunately they don't get it yet ... they will and I know they will thank me one day. Please think twice and save your youngens
Same. I said I’d only take a break for about a month. It’s been 2 now and truth be told I’m not missing it much. Still need time to find myself and I’ll get back to it whenever that happens. No rush :)
Social media isn't the problem , it's people's mindset. It's your own personal responsibility whether to get on social media and stay all day posting and looking for likes. I deleted Facebook off my phone, but kept messager in case someone need to get in touch with me. I like watching videos on RUclips, I don't watch them all day long, I have other things to do during the day. The internet is just a tool , and the way you use it is up to you alone.
You missed the whole point my guy. There are people like us. I don't have a Facebook. Or Twitter. Or anything other than YT. But there are other people, mostly teens and young adults, that base every facet of their life based on whatever the biggest TikTok star is doing or whatever. In our day it was just for meeting new people, lighthearted chat, etc. But now these kids see it literally as a way to live their life. They don't watch TV anymore. They learn from what they see on apps and their phones.
I agree and disagree-your mindset is being shaped on an ongoing basis based off what you allow to be put into your mind everyday-by scrolling on social media everyday-you allow these images and content to enter into your "mindset" -it becomes a part of how you think-maybe not intentionally but it does-I feel like we could all benefit from social media as long as it is mainly used as a tool-otherwise I feel time could be better spent in "real life." This is just my opinion though!
Yup, Social Media is the Future ... It will soon come in education. It has already come in Work and Business. You cannot escape it. BUT THERE ARE HAPPIER WAYS TO HACK IT. Watch this, ruclips.net/video/nQ3cdZ9y8Oc/видео.html I think you'd like it
My child’s mother was just posting a picture of our newborn in a WhatsApp group, posting the same close up picture of our baby, I literally was just asking why she was posting basically the same pictures over and over and getting the same responses from the same people. “How cute! So handsome! Very sweet!” The picture wasn’t even from that moment, and just after I was telling her it’s the same pictures and the same responses from the same people she dropped her phone and hit him in the head and made him cry. Then she got a notification from someone in the group saying how cute he was... is it really worth it? I almost whipped her phone across the house. She is also the type that will be at a cool place and want me to take a picture of her doing some stupid fucking yoga pose and if it doesn’t “look right” she has me retake it. I think I might “accidentally” start dropping her phone.
I quit instagram and Twitter on August 25, 2020. It's September 13, 2020. I feel so free! I didn't realise how into my phone I was. I would go on virtual dance meets and just go on my phone. I stopped that and started learning more dances. I remember back at the airport at 2018 everyone sitting down was on their phone or iPad. EVERYONE. I also have snapchat and tik tok but I don't know if I'm going to delete those.
I'm 68 and what much, much saddens me is how love as gone the way of cassette tapes. Love has been just about completely driven out of today's world, with high tech, stranger danger and hollywood pyscho killers. People today have no clue as to what love is, and how it's the greatest of all things in live. Love is based in trust, innocence and social interaction, things that no loner exist in today's world. The saddest thing is, a life without love is like a life without sex, or without music, or without enjoyment of the arts.
I think it depends on balance, many folks binge on it so it does end up distracting them from working on other areas of life, but for others it's an incredible way to network and stay in touch with folks, so it really does depend more on how it's used, than simply social media itself.
In the past couple years, I almost forgot to live in reality. I was using too much social media trying to be well-known on instagram but I lose to be myself in reality.
After deleting my social media well besides RUclips I have been so much happier. Also, once I did so many ads for it started to pop up and I feel like that’s also another way they try to draw you back into it
Social Media does destroy us. All it ever does is show us everyone’s life, who blocks us, ignores us, does not add us, and does not bother with us. It also shows us who gets likes and comments on their stuff. So upsetting.
if someone's already insecure and they see these fake personas and how perfect someone's life is or how good someone looks they might judge themselves off of what they see online we humans have this big problem where we compare our lives to these fake versions of people who make their lives look more interesting then they actually are no one wants to share the bad aspects of life so when people see how "perfect" these people's life's are they may feel alone like no one understands them ik that's what happened to me a couple of years ago and it was a horrible feeling
I was in denial that it is for social climbing, attention, cheating, comparing. Not authentic connecting. I tried to ignore it and stay offline, but I would lose ranking and visibility. All the posts got stupider and more obnoxious. Then I realized I don’t even show up on the radar to others in competition for views. I wanted a real conversation not a private therapy session by someone who will ghost me.
@s 97 I'd like you to explain why. I think one could be happy AND use social media. Though, if unhappy people use social media to be happy, then I don't think they'll find happiness
What people forget is that by looking at someone else's profile and feeling jealous etc when they show themselves doing activities such as going on holidays, having a fancy dinner in a restaurant, at parties, spending time with girlfriends, boyfriends, spouses, kids etc, you're seeing only what they want you to see and that is usually airbrushed to perfection. You never see or hear of their struggles, gloomy moments or even when they get out of bed looking like a train wreck. It's pretty much a "grass is greener on the other side" manipulation tactic from the dynamics of social media to keep us watching, scrolling etc.
I feel like i receive a lot of negativity from many friends on social media because i can feel their attempts at evoking jealousy and envy thru their posts trying to paint a perfect life for themselves and bragging about everything it’s really annoying I stopped posting photos on ky timeline a long time ago it was very disfunctional
I'm thinking that the 123 people who gave this a thumbs down are in total denial of the disease that all of social media has become. I deactivated my facebook account 2 year's ago and I don't miss it one bit!! Take your face out of your phone, look up and enjoy life and live!
The double-edged sword of the Internet is that content of any interest exists. Social media is best used for interest-based communities, not addiction.
Yea man, it's all about entertainment. But you know what Social Media is way ahead, it connects the world and is the future. It's about not being one of those people who BREAK THEMSELVES with Social Media, instead of BUILDING THEMSELVES UP
Social media is not real life. Once you are logged on Facebook, people take things for granted on what is happening in real life. I have posted about events. People express interest for the sake of it. Your mind drifts away from reality. I have reduced hours on Facebook significantly as I am fed up about people self pity and jealousy and constant sharing. If you share gossip and information then it goes crazy. Any posting about events, no interest for me. Real engagement is talking with people and doing activities together to achieve positive outcomes. You do get any substance and proper engagement through facebook..
Sometimes I feel like spend too much time looking on others people posts on Instagram, and that kinda make me exhausted for no reason. Maybe my brain just worked too much for that.
I’ve deleted my social media... For the sake of not wanting to take it with me into my 30s. I’ll be turning 29, and so I’m using this year to detach myself from social media completely... I do not and I refuse to give it my attention from 30-40.
I really like the presentation of this clip, it made me better understand disadvantages of media. In addition, I think media has both advantages and disadvantages, but it depends on how we use it appropriately without adversely affecting us
some of us are so addicted that they dont even get that dopamine ….. its like a sudden urge of checking it whether they like it or not ….if they dont check they’ll anxious …they just scroll like robots …. its scary !!
Depends how you use it. People don't seem to use it much for personal life anymore, they mostly share around memes. I post what I want, like a diary for my record and to show anyone who cares what I'm up to (usually the great outdoors) and perhaps inspire them to go out and do the same. It's a tool use it in a healthy way and is fine.
Yeah..spot on. It pisses me off when i was only the one clicking the Like button for my FB friends but they don't for me like Hello? Well, nothing's wrong with Social media so long as people don't dwell too much on impressing people they don't like..
I completely understand the jealousy part. I see "happiness" and confidence when I look at other people's posts/profiles and -whoa ho - when I see fitness images...Well I pull my pack of cookies and tub of ice cream so they can accompany me in my blanket fort where I wallow in my lack of self confidence. 😆
I deactivate my accounts regularly lol but I go back cause I like taking pictures and keeping up with family who live out of town....what made a huge difference if you want balance is getting rid of the mobile app cause you don’t have to deal with checking those little red notifications it sounds weird but it works
People say the media is “addictive” and maybe it is, but I theorize it might literally hypnotize people. I began to do research on hypnosis and some things about it sounded similar to effects the media has on people. Hypnosis is a real thing it isn’t a thing in movies but is different in real life. Also a study said TV and movies hypnotize people so that’s partly where I got the idea from.
If I could wish one thing to disappear from earth without a doubt it would be social media, that would problaby solve every other problem we face in society, and as a human race
Lately my friend just got a lot of fans on his channel but instead of being proud of his achievement he keeps begging for more and more and completely forgetting how amazing his accomplishment is

Yes I completely agree, I have also been seeing a lot of “Body Positivity” but people are actually eating themselves to death, I am so for being confident in you but once it comes to being very unhealthy, that is self abuse and shouldn’t be taut to younger people.
Same with men.
I am so glad that every time I get on my phone I learn something new everyday not to get on social media or Facebook and all of that no more
The cycle of jealousy is sooooo strong. Had me in bed depressed for weeks

All social media platforms should limit their service time . Like maximum 5 to 6 hours per day only ! But it's impossible !
ALI AHMED Mir amazing idea
@Aaron O ' Cathain what about messaging?
Bro they want money they don’t care about us
yes brother, I also thinking the same to limit so but I can't what I want from early morning.
5-6 hours is more than enough broo
1 hour is enough to spend time on internet
I was one of those people who didn’t care to lie or exaggerate on social media and it only brought me issues. It’s insane how many wrong assumptions people will make about you if you dont care to portray yourself in the best possible light. What I realized is that most people are so obssessed with only putting their absolute best on social media that if you don’t care to and just do casual posts people will then assume that IS your best.
So true! Love this.
💯💯💯💯💯💯 this was me too
They think you are boring, underachieving, or a loser if you talk about normal life instead of make your life a brand to sell
Careful with Nat Geo, social and political agendas are seeping into everything. But, I agree with your intent.
I follow business owners, authors, animal videos, photographers and only 1-2 influencers just for marketing ideas and housekeeping ideas. Even so, I have to unplug bc its never ending content and can be distracting
@@THEDOORIZCLOSED since my original post, i’ve deleted my facebook account over a year ago and hardly use instagram anymore. I’ve found better use of my time in other hobbies and am at better peace :)

I have deleted all of my social media accounts except Facebook( for some reasons) . I don’t use FB frequently but whenever I log into it, it feels horrible. Then I come back to RUclips to watch some' social media Detox ' videos 😁 which might tell that what I have seen on Fb is just the highlighted parts of people's life.
RUclips isn’t a time waster for me. RUclips is the place where I can learn.
Gotta take breaks from Social Media for sure
Im off all social media for the first time. Reading books...listening to music....enjoying live interactions without distraction
I wish people could actually UNDERSTAND this video. Everything they mention in this video is truth. Social media effects in thoughts, moods, create jealously, the more jealous people became the more they hate you, perfectionsim.
I think I deleted my social media when I was in my mid 20's .
I never particularly used it a lot but I'll never forget the day I ended up looking at photos of a friends friends cousin WHO I didn't know from Adam!
I knew there and then it had to stop .
I've taken a break from social media, not posting much if at all anymore and not "having" to see what others are posting...it's SO freeing =)
Daniel Selk so have I! 6 months now and I have no desire to go back to that insanity😂🙌
Same. I said I’d only take a break for about a month. It’s been 2 now and truth be told I’m not missing it much. Still need time to find myself and I’ll get back to it whenever that happens. No rush :)
Daniel Selk I feel the same too
Perfectly said I have the same feeling from past 3 months now
Same as well we ahead of the game 💪🏿

Now you have to tell us how to get away from social media
yeah
Pickup up new hobbies and things that find you happy. For me it was bowling, exercise, and just exploring.
yup
I still struggle with cutting back on social media and people's opinions😒

I did use Facebook every hour and I have changed in 2020 during Covid-19. Now I use it under 15 minutes each day.
u still use it though
Social media is something we need to learn how to use. Thanks for sharing!
Yup, Social Media is the Future ... It will soon come in education. It has already come in Work and Business.

My child’s mother was just posting a picture of our newborn in a WhatsApp group, posting the same close up picture of our baby, I literally was just asking why she was posting basically the same pictures over and over and getting the same responses from the same people. “How cute! So handsome! Very sweet!”
The picture wasn’t even from that moment, and just after I was telling her it’s the same pictures and the same responses from the same people she dropped her phone and hit him in the head and made him cry.

Cut off her phone plan
I'm out of social media for over an year now, believe me it's much better...
Its a race for attention. Sometimes i feel good and my first instinct is to go there. I've observed that after it i felt like crap.
I think it depends on balance, many folks binge on it so it does end up distracting them from working on other areas of life, but for others it's an incredible way to network and stay in touch with folks, so it really does depend more on how it's used, than simply social media itself.
eso era antes ahora es un nido de postureo
I haven't seen a better description of this addiction than this video.
In the past couple years, I almost forgot to live in reality. I was using too much social media trying to be well-known on instagram but I lose to be myself in reality.
After deleting my social media well besides RUclips I have been so much happier. Also, once I did so many ads for it started to pop up and I feel like that’s also another way they try to draw you back into it
On the other hand social media can be helpful if used properly but like he said we spend hours using it and it has basically taking over our lives
Interesting to see how in 30 years how social will affect society and lives with regards to relationships and contentment
If were even around then...
Cut down on social media folks.
Id say cut it out completely
@@jessesdomain444 facts. U can live without it.
I am retired, and I love the virtual education of social media. Education never stops.
Does social media make people unhappy? Or do unhappy people tend to gravitate towards social media?? Correlation doesn’t equal causation.
Mindi Bear as far as I can determine, it may be some of both
@s 97
I'd like you to explain why. I think one could be happy AND use social media. Though, if unhappy people use social media to be happy, then I don't think they'll find happiness
Mindi Bear I wouldn’t say that social media itself makes us unhappy, but rather our perceptions of and reactions to the content on there.
It's pretty much a "grass is greener on the other side" manipulation tactic from the dynamics of social media to keep us watching, scrolling etc.
hoy en dia el esfuerzo del resultado final en la vida son las redes sociales solo por la envidia nada mas que eso
@@luismiguelmartinezsanchez4069 I'm sorry but I do not understand. Do you speak English or Latvian?

I stopped posting photos on ky timeline a long time ago it was very disfunctional
The text messenger is also a terrible communicating device. People always misunderstood the contents and contexts

I think one of things it does it makes you detached from your own feelings
It took about 10 years of facebook use, but my friends are cold and distant now. Even when I see them out they just scroll and take photos.
Me too, judging from a phone
I'm thinking that the 123 people who gave this a thumbs down are in total denial of the disease that all of social media has become. I deactivated my facebook account 2 year's ago and I don't miss it one bit!!
Take your face out of your phone, look up and enjoy life and live!
Dude this is so much relatable i can relate 100 percent to almost everything you said
The double-edged sword of the Internet is that content of any interest exists. Social media is best used for interest-based communities, not addiction.
Before social media existed, Television was the cause of all this...
Yea man, it's all about entertainment. But you know what Social Media is way ahead, it connects the world and is the future.
It's about not being one of those people who BREAK THEMSELVES with Social Media, instead of BUILDING THEMSELVES UP
no es lo mismo
No one thinks tv is real life or acted by their friends
Social media is not real life. Once you are logged on Facebook, people take things for granted on what is happening in real life. I have posted about events. People express interest for the sake of it. Your mind drifts away from reality. I have reduced hours on Facebook significantly as I am fed up about people self pity and jealousy and constant sharing. If you share gossip and information then it goes crazy. Any posting about events, no interest for me. Real engagement is talking with people and doing activities together to achieve positive outcomes. You do get any substance and proper engagement through facebook..
Who else is scared of Social Media taking over the world?
Too late...
In addition, I think media has both advantages and disadvantages, but it depends on how we use it appropriately without adversely affecting us
It's the complete and true reality...
Thanks a lot for this video...
some of us are so addicted that they dont even get that dopamine ….. its like a sudden urge of checking it whether they like it or not ….if they dont check they’ll anxious …they just scroll like robots …. its scary !!
I created my FB account around 2010. Year after - deleted it, never participated again, and felt much better since then.
Depends how you use it. People don't seem to use it much for personal life anymore, they mostly share around memes. I post what I want, like a diary for my record and to show anyone who cares what I'm up to (usually the great outdoors) and perhaps inspire them to go out and do the same.
It's a tool use it in a healthy way and is fine.
no se puede inspirar a una persona si esa persona no puede no se llama inspiracion se llama narcisismo comparacion ego y postureo
Yeah..spot on. It pisses me off when i was only the one clicking the Like button for my FB friends but they don't for me like Hello? Well, nothing's wrong with Social media so long as people don't dwell too much on impressing people they don't like..
I couldn’t imagine being an influencer. Like the ones who are really big and have to post daily.
I admit ive been guilty of this too just saying thank you so much for this video Mr Troy W. Hudson thank you
True true since I quite social media I start to feeling alive again 😌
I´ve been thinking a lot about just deleting my social media accounts, it´s just a waste of time.
I deactivate my accounts regularly lol but I go back cause I like taking pictures and keeping up with family who live out of town....what made a huge difference if you want balance is getting rid of the mobile app cause you don’t have to deal with checking those little red notifications it sounds weird but it works
Social media is damaging our life than good😔
People say the media is “addictive” and maybe it is, but I theorize it might literally hypnotize people.
