I was one of those people who didn’t care to lie or exaggerate on social media and it only brought me issues. It’s insane how many wrong assumptions people will make about you if you dont care to portray yourself in the best possible light. What I realized is that most people are so obssessed with only putting their absolute best on social media that if you don’t care to and just do casual posts people will then assume that IS your best.
_social media is a highlight reel, it’s not reality! ⭐️ the happiest people online could be the most depressed in real life- once you realise this, you’ll be so much happier in life ! :)_
Social Media does destroy us. All it ever does is show us everyone’s life, who blocks us, ignores us, does not add us, and does not bother with us. It also shows us who gets likes and comments on their stuff. So upsetting.
if someone's already insecure and they see these fake personas and how perfect someone's life is or how good someone looks they might judge themselves off of what they see online we humans have this big problem where we compare our lives to these fake versions of people who make their lives look more interesting then they actually are no one wants to share the bad aspects of life so when people see how "perfect" these people's life's are they may feel alone like no one understands them ik that's what happened to me a couple of years ago and it was a horrible feeling
I'm 68 and what much, much saddens me is how love as gone the way of cassette tapes. Love has been just about completely driven out of today's world, with high tech, stranger danger and hollywood pyscho killers. People today have no clue as to what love is, and how it's the greatest of all things in live. Love is based in trust, innocence and social interaction, things that no loner exist in today's world. The saddest thing is, a life without love is like a life without sex, or without music, or without enjoyment of the arts.
What people forget is that by looking at someone else's profile and feeling jealous etc when they show themselves doing activities such as going on holidays, having a fancy dinner in a restaurant, at parties, spending time with girlfriends, boyfriends, spouses, kids etc, you're seeing only what they want you to see and that is usually airbrushed to perfection. You never see or hear of their struggles, gloomy moments or even when they get out of bed looking like a train wreck. It's pretty much a "grass is greener on the other side" manipulation tactic from the dynamics of social media to keep us watching, scrolling etc.
After deleting my social media well besides RUclips I have been so much happier. Also, once I did so many ads for it started to pop up and I feel like that’s also another way they try to draw you back into it
Yup, Social Media is the Future ... It will soon come in education. It has already come in Work and Business. You cannot escape it. BUT THERE ARE HAPPIER WAYS TO HACK IT. Watch this, ruclips.net/video/nQ3cdZ9y8Oc/видео.html I think you'd like it
Yea man, it's all about entertainment. But you know what Social Media is way ahead, it connects the world and is the future. It's about not being one of those people who BREAK THEMSELVES with Social Media, instead of BUILDING THEMSELVES UP
My child’s mother was just posting a picture of our newborn in a WhatsApp group, posting the same close up picture of our baby, I literally was just asking why she was posting basically the same pictures over and over and getting the same responses from the same people. “How cute! So handsome! Very sweet!” The picture wasn’t even from that moment, and just after I was telling her it’s the same pictures and the same responses from the same people she dropped her phone and hit him in the head and made him cry. Then she got a notification from someone in the group saying how cute he was... is it really worth it? I almost whipped her phone across the house. She is also the type that will be at a cool place and want me to take a picture of her doing some stupid fucking yoga pose and if it doesn’t “look right” she has me retake it. I think I might “accidentally” start dropping her phone.
Social media is not real life. Once you are logged on Facebook, people take things for granted on what is happening in real life. I have posted about events. People express interest for the sake of it. Your mind drifts away from reality. I have reduced hours on Facebook significantly as I am fed up about people self pity and jealousy and constant sharing. If you share gossip and information then it goes crazy. Any posting about events, no interest for me. Real engagement is talking with people and doing activities together to achieve positive outcomes. You do get any substance and proper engagement through facebook..
In the past couple years, I almost forgot to live in reality. I was using too much social media trying to be well-known on instagram but I lose to be myself in reality.
I think it depends on balance, many folks binge on it so it does end up distracting them from working on other areas of life, but for others it's an incredible way to network and stay in touch with folks, so it really does depend more on how it's used, than simply social media itself.
I quit instagram and Twitter on August 25, 2020. It's September 13, 2020. I feel so free! I didn't realise how into my phone I was. I would go on virtual dance meets and just go on my phone. I stopped that and started learning more dances. I remember back at the airport at 2018 everyone sitting down was on their phone or iPad. EVERYONE. I also have snapchat and tik tok but I don't know if I'm going to delete those.
I was in denial that it is for social climbing, attention, cheating, comparing. Not authentic connecting. I tried to ignore it and stay offline, but I would lose ranking and visibility. All the posts got stupider and more obnoxious. Then I realized I don’t even show up on the radar to others in competition for views. I wanted a real conversation not a private therapy session by someone who will ghost me.
If I could wish one thing to disappear from earth without a doubt it would be social media, that would problaby solve every other problem we face in society, and as a human race
I’ve deleted my social media... For the sake of not wanting to take it with me into my 30s. I’ll be turning 29, and so I’m using this year to detach myself from social media completely... I do not and I refuse to give it my attention from 30-40.
I'm thinking that the 123 people who gave this a thumbs down are in total denial of the disease that all of social media has become. I deactivated my facebook account 2 year's ago and I don't miss it one bit!! Take your face out of your phone, look up and enjoy life and live!
I really like the presentation of this clip, it made me better understand disadvantages of media. In addition, I think media has both advantages and disadvantages, but it depends on how we use it appropriately without adversely affecting us
I completely understand the jealousy part. I see "happiness" and confidence when I look at other people's posts/profiles and -whoa ho - when I see fitness images...Well I pull my pack of cookies and tub of ice cream so they can accompany me in my blanket fort where I wallow in my lack of self confidence. 😆
These are all true. That's why I rarely use my facebook and instagram account nowadays. Whenever I tried publishing content on my artsy fb page, I only do it on business suit so I can only focus on my content and avoid glimpsing throughout the newsfeed. I just hate that I cannot uninstall my messenger app just like facebook because people are so reliant on messenger nowadays. All of our family members uses messenger for contacts in case of emergencies, also, my school professors use messenger as well as an extension in giving announcements regarding to our classes. It's just too bad I can't get rid of messenger, so I just trying my best not to view my online friends stories.
Lately my friend just got a lot of fans on his channel but instead of being proud of his achievement he keeps begging for more and more and completely forgetting how amazing his accomplishment is
In the next few months I will be conducting a study to see the effects of looking at images in media, particularly thin attractive models, on people’s immediate biases. If anyone would like to contribute to this research and be a participant or learn more about it reply to this comment, it would be extremely helpful.
Yeah..spot on. It pisses me off when i was only the one clicking the Like button for my FB friends but they don't for me like Hello? Well, nothing's wrong with Social media so long as people don't dwell too much on impressing people they don't like..
Social Media can make me unhappy because a lot of people on the internet make me angry with their stupidity and nonsense. I consider the majority of social media to have been overrun with the worst aspects of Mankind. A place for stupidity, anger, hatred, jealousy and spite to fester and spread.
People say the media is “addictive” and maybe it is, but I theorize it might literally hypnotize people. I began to do research on hypnosis and some things about it sounded similar to effects the media has on people. Hypnosis is a real thing it isn’t a thing in movies but is different in real life. Also a study said TV and movies hypnotize people so that’s partly where I got the idea from.
"Everything sucks!"
Instagram is toxic..it made me to feel so inconfident sad n then depressed...i took a break for 2 months n i feel soo lively n happy n myself again...dun go into instagran too much..it kills u..
I deactivate my accounts regularly lol but I go back cause I like taking pictures and keeping up with family who live out of town....what made a huge difference if you want balance is getting rid of the mobile app cause you don’t have to deal with checking those little red notifications it sounds weird but it works
some of us are so addicted that they dont even get that dopamine ….. its like a sudden urge of checking it whether they like it or not ….if they dont check they’ll anxious …they just scroll like robots …. its scary !!
Stuff about hypnosis said it as effect on memory, the attention of the person being hypnotized having their attention absorbed on a object or some fixed point, losing the sense of time, feeling deeply relaxed. The relaxed part is confusing since the media especially the internet and social media seems to not always make people relax. I don’t know why. But some of it makes people deeply relaxed I’d say. But a lot seems very similar to the media. I did see something which said that hypnosis does not relax you though, and that it is the suggestions a hypnotist makes that do like, “Maybe you should relax” when you are under something called a, “Trance”.
I don't get the selfie generation at all.🤷🏻♀️ Is it not more important to actually enjoy the offline moments instead of doing only things for selfies?
I'm 16 and I don't take selfies it's completely useless what's the point of taking a picture of ourselves if you accomplished something share that moment with family and friends instead of trying to get validation from people who don't care about you some of my friends said it was to remember their accomplishments but if you remember and you're happy about what you did why do you need to show people that just remember it wit you're brain
YT still gives you that instant virtual dopamine boost, so I wouldn't say it's exactly social media but it's still not good for your mental health even if you watch supposedly 'educational' videos
@@ItsRaitisLV I only watch the content and barely interact with people, unless it's a theme i'm interested in which is rare, or trolling.I don't give jackshit about views likes and dislikes so no, it doesn't give me the so called dopamine boost.
Thank you for sharing this! I used to think that I am alone who has these thoughts, but seems no 😀 I was always good at school when social media still didn't enter our lives this much, but sence then I have always been struggling with anxiety , stress, depression, distraction-easily, lack of focus and self esteem etc etc etc Half year ago I had a big exam in my career and I decided to shutdown social media for 2 months , it was hard at the beginning , but after 2 weeks I realized how peaceful I can live without them! I got my focus , self respect, strength back again and I passed the exam! After that I made the biggest decision in my life to kill this addiction I have toward social media, and deleted my self permanently from all those applications (Facebook, instagram,vk) !!! Nowadays when I meet with my friends or colleges especially that 99% of them are addicted to social media, they consider me as an alien from another planet hahaha but inside me I really feel pity for them, and wish everyone would take this step to realize how great and beautiful our lives can be without this addiction
I'm not on social media that much once a week if that. I think people use social media too much and their lives are just their lives, not mine, plus its too time-consuming I don't have enough time in my day to see what's going on with others, so I agree with the things that are said on the video

What I realized is that most people are so obssessed with only putting their absolute best on social media that if you don’t care to and just do casual posts people will then assume that IS your best.
So true! Love this.

They think you are boring, underachieving, or a loser if you talk about normal life instead of make your life a brand to sell

Im off all social media for the first time. Reading books...listening to music....enjoying live interactions without distraction
It's pretty much a "grass is greener on the other side" manipulation tactic from the dynamics of social media to keep us watching, scrolling etc.
hoy en dia el esfuerzo del resultado final en la vida son las redes sociales solo por la envidia nada mas que eso

I am so glad that every time I get on my phone I learn something new everyday not to get on social media or Facebook and all of that no more
when I tell people that I don't have Facebook,Tweeter or Instagram they act like if I have disease or something.

After deleting my social media well besides RUclips I have been so much happier. Also, once I did so many ads for it started to pop up and I feel like that’s also another way they try to draw you back into it
Social media is something we need to learn how to use. Thanks for sharing!
Yup, Social Media is the Future ... It will soon come in education. It has already come in Work and Business.
You cannot escape it. BUT THERE ARE HAPPIER WAYS TO HACK IT.

Before social media existed, Television was the cause of all this...
Yea man, it's all about entertainment. But you know what Social Media is way ahead, it connects the world and is the future.
It's about not being one of those people who BREAK THEMSELVES with Social Media, instead of BUILDING THEMSELVES UP
no es lo mismo
No one thinks tv is real life or acted by their friends
Interesting to see how in 30 years how social will affect society and lives with regards to relationships and contentment
If were even around then...
My child’s mother was just posting a picture of our newborn in a WhatsApp group, posting the same close up picture of our baby, I literally was just asking why she was posting basically the same pictures over and over and getting the same responses from the same people. “How cute! So handsome! Very sweet!”
The picture wasn’t even from that moment, and just after I was telling her it’s the same pictures and the same responses from the same people she dropped her phone and hit him in the head and made him cry.

Cut off her phone plan
I deleted Facebook and Instagram over 2 months ago. It felt empty at first but now it's fulfilling.
It's the complete and true reality...
Thanks a lot for this video...
I think it depends on balance, many folks binge on it so it does end up distracting them from working on other areas of life, but for others it's an incredible way to network and stay in touch with folks, so it really does depend more on how it's used, than simply social media itself.
eso era antes ahora es un nido de postureo
I am retired, and I love the virtual education of social media. Education never stops.
On the other hand social media can be helpful if used properly but like he said we spend hours using it and it has basically taking over our lives
It took about 10 years of facebook use, but my friends are cold and distant now. Even when I see them out they just scroll and take photos.
Me too, judging from a phone
Yes everything on here is so true! I believe it 100 percent.
I think one of things it does it makes you detached from your own feelings
The envy cycle is SO TRUE omg
This is so true
Lmaoo when he say you lay in bed on social media and you look up & it’s 2am 😂 guilty
I'm out of social media for over an year now, believe me it's much better...
For me
1 genuine compliment from my family = 100000 likes on Social Media
I admit ive been guilty of this too just saying thank you so much for this video Mr Troy W. Hudson thank you
Social media sucks for me and it is time wasting indeed
Yeah. So true Top Think.
Hey maybe we should hang out hehehe and stop using social media 😁🤣
I really like the presentation of this clip, it made me better understand disadvantages of media. In addition, I think media has both advantages and disadvantages, but it depends on how we use it appropriately without adversely affecting us
I completely understand the jealousy part. I see "happiness" and confidence when I look at other people's posts/profiles and -whoa ho - when I see fitness images...Well I pull my pack of cookies and tub of ice cream so they can accompany me in my blanket fort where I wallow in my lack of self confidence. 😆
Who else is scared of Social Media taking over the world?
Too late...
Lately my friend just got a lot of fans on his channel but instead of being proud of his achievement he keeps begging for more and more and completely forgetting how amazing his accomplishment is
I couldn’t imagine being an influencer. Like the ones who are really big and have to post daily.
In the next few months I will be conducting a study to see the effects of looking at images in media, particularly thin attractive models, on people’s immediate biases. This study can be used for a strong argument against chronic social media and pornography usage. When I conduct this study I will need more male participants. If anyone would like to contribute to this research and be a participant or learn more about it reply to this comment, it would be extremely helpful.
When he said that you can be laying in bed scrolling through social media until 2am, I felt called out.
I´ve been thinking a lot about just deleting my social media accounts, it´s just a waste of time.
I created my FB account around 2010. Year after - deleted it, never participated again, and felt much better since then.
This video raises very good points! Excellent video!
"Everything sucks!"
the only social media that isn't bad is RUclips as long as you are watching the right things!
Instagram is toxic..it made me to feel so inconfident sad n then depressed...i took a break for 2 months n i feel soo lively n happy n myself again...dun go into instagran too much..it kills u..
😕 I'm sad.
How did this happen?
Social media is damaging our life than good😔
I deactivate my accounts regularly lol but I go back cause I like taking pictures and keeping up with family who live out of town....what made a huge difference if you want balance is getting rid of the mobile app cause you don’t have to deal with checking those little red notifications it sounds weird but it works
some of us are so addicted that they dont even get that dopamine ….. its like a sudden urge of checking it whether they like it or not ….if they dont check they’ll anxious …they just scroll like robots …. its scary !!
I'm glad i'm antisocial and barely use that shit.Mostly to troll, unless yt counts as social media.
YT counts as social media unless you don't comment and read comments
YT still gives you that instant virtual dopamine boost, so I wouldn't say it's exactly social media but it's still not good for your mental health even if you watch supposedly 'educational' videos
@@ItsRaitisLV I only watch the content and barely interact with people, unless it's a theme i'm interested in which is rare, or trolling.I don't give jackshit about views likes and dislikes so no, it doesn't give me the so called dopamine boost.
Thank you for sharing this! I used to think that I am alone who has these thoughts, but seems no 😀
I was always good at school when social media still didn't enter our lives this much, but sence then I have always been struggling with anxiety , stress, depression, distraction-easily, lack of focus and self esteem etc etc etc
Half year ago I had a big exam in my career and I decided to shutdown social media for 2 months , it was hard at the beginning , but after 2 weeks I realized how peaceful I can live without them!
