    I made my first set of your conditioner bars around Nov 17 23 and have been using it since! I have long curly hair and am in love! It took me a while to get used to a solid bar, but its getting easier! Just have to remember to keep it wet while running it through my hair and that works best for me. But i have to tell you this! I notice a HUGE difference in the amount of hair loss during conditioning and combing!! I would have to clean my shower drain out several times a week and now, its been weeks!! (That has NEVER happened before!) And my wide tooth comb that i use would be FULL of hair in a few days so much so that i would have to cut the hair off with scissors (gross i know!) But its amazing the difference!! This is awesome!! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!! Ive been sharing the conditioner bars with my friends and family!! And they love it! I tell everyone you are my fav soap RUclipsr and you are like the "Martha Stewart" of soaping (but meant in the highest of respect... not the jail stuff!)
    Thanks again!

      I added a few drops of rosemary EO to my shampoo and conditioner bars and it helps thicken hair and stop it from falling out, too. I use Ellen's recipes on both for my hair.

    Hi Ellen Ruth Soap, I am a retired guy who got started making cold process soap last year, I heard about condition bars, check out several sites, but yours is the best, I brought the ingredients and going to make my first batch today. Thank you again so much and love your work. Daniel D

    I am relatively new to soap making, and find the whole process fascinating. I am also very please with the atmosphere of the soaping community as a group. the willingness of you, and so many other soap makers to share your skills, and to give credit to others is heartwarming.

    I was converted to shampoo and conditioner bars about 2 years ago and can't imagine going back to commercial products. My hair is so much happier! I actually only condition about every 2-3 shampoos as the bar conditioner is that effective. I've been considering trying to make my own and now I just might give it a try. Thanks for sharing!

      What brand do you normally use? They are so expensive that I don't want to do trial and error and waste my money to research. I would rather buy one that works.
      I am also allergic to regular soap so I am not sure if that wouldn't make me itchy as well🤔🤕

    These are just gorgeous bars! I love shampoo and conditioner bars. They last sooo much longer than bottled shampoos & conditioners. I use BTMS-50 in my deep conditioning bars and BTMS-25 IN my light to regular shampoo & conditioner bars. I love all kinds of butters in my bars, eslecially Murumuru Butter. It does make a slightly darker bar, but it is an excellent butter for hair. Also a bit of Cupuacu Butter is nice.

I also make Aloe Shampoo Bar from Bramble Berry, formulated for hair, no lye. Using your conditioner bar with the Aloe Shampoo Bar works great on my thick, curly, colored hair. Very interesting to watch. The only thing I dont like about those round ones is that they are so slippery when they're wet that they're hard to hang on to and i keep dropping the bar in the shower and hard to keep ahold of. But I've used the conditioner bars my sister makes and they do work good and help after using the shampoo bar. As when i use the shampoo var it makes my hair feel like dull and weird, so i need the conditioner bars to make my hair softer and more manageable. I want to get some again one of these days. Thanks for the good video. 😊

      @@monikaykataria3838 for hair care you will use 1-8 % of your recipe. If the recipe calls for 2 gr of BTMS 25 and you are using BTMS 50, then you will use only 1 gr. I hope this makes sense, thank you

    • @cliviascreations
      @cliviascreations 3 месяца назад +1

      @@GenesisCespedes basically the number stands for the moisturizer concentration, so 50 has double amount compared to the 25. If the recipe calls for 25 and you have the 50, use half and viceversa, if the recipe calls for 50 and you just have the BTMS 25 , use double. In my experience it’s not exactly all the times so make small batch and test it to see how do you like it. I prefer the 50 because of our hair texture. Thank you

    Hi Ellen, thank you for all your gorgeous recipes and your beautiful and friendly face on RUclips. I recently made your magnesium lotion and I JUST LOVE IT! I made this conditioning bar today, however I found the oils solidifying very very fast, even at 60* C it was already hardening with lumpy pieces and I had not yet even added fragrance and preservative. Your formulation looked clear and runny up to where you poured it. I add my preservative at 50*C, so I was so surprised that it hardened so quickly. It is summer in South Africa, so our temperatures are still 30* C daytime. Any advise? I am quite experienced with formulations, although I do not have formal training in formulating. Kind regards❤

    Thank you for making this video I didn't know about hair conditioning bars

      If you're going to do a sub, I suggest trying a small test batch and see how you like the finish.

    I went by your recipe, except i used btms-50, and olive instead of Avocado oil. But when i put optiphen in it become foamy on top as i stirred it. I waited until it was about 137 degrees bc my optiphen bottle said < 140 degrees. I still poured them in molds and i will see how it turns out tomorrow. Just wondering if i did something wrong that would make it foamy, that you could think of? Thank you! I love all your vids! And i have learned so much from you!

      I'm not sure what's going on?? But sometimes these take a few days to completely set up for unmolding. So if they're too soft, just give it more time👍

    • @jeannieroberts5845
      @jeannieroberts5845 Год назад

      Its before i pour them and they got pretty hard. Its when i pour in the optiphen at the end, it made it a little foamy, so when i poured my 1st 3 or 4 the foam poured out with them. But all the others looked normal. So not sure. Maybe it was my optiphen. I purchased off amazon.

    I have made this recipe and I love it ! Thanks so much for sharing Ellen. I tried to double the recipe but it did not firm up well at all. There is a lot of liquid in the mix after it has been out of the refrigerator for a while. Can you make any suggestion on how to save it ? I want to add some more hard butter but I don't want to waste it if it ultimately won't help. Thanks for any advise you can offer.

    • @EllenRuthSoap

      You could try to remelt and add a bit more hard butter, just be sure to melt on low heat and not over heat the batter.

    Great recipe, Ellen. Also glad you used BTMS 25 cos the 50 is so scarce in South Africa. I am gonna try these. For what hair type is it, Ellen? Thank you for everything that you share🌻💖😊

    Thank you so much for sharing! What a skilled soap artist you are! What double boiler do you use? Also, is there a certain temperature your soap mixture has to reach? Or as soon as it's melted you know it's ready? I want to try this out but am scared I will ruin the batch by boiling it for too long. I appreciate any help you can offer me and will definitely be a long-term watcher!

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  Год назад +1

      For a double boiler, I just use a larger pot with water simmering, then set my container it that to melt. I don't take temps on this just get it well and melted.

    Love your video & I’m wondering if it’s all right to substitute liquid vit. B5 panthenal for the powdered. If so, should I use the same volume as the powdered? Thx so very much for all your videos, we appreciate you!!

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  Год назад +1

      I'm not sure what the concentration of the liquid is, but I would do the same volume..

      I googled it and they said to use twice the amount called for, then reduce the water by 2%. But, there’s no water in this recipe. Any ideas on what I could reduce by 2%, do you have any advice in that? It’s no big deal ‘cause I have some of the powder on order, but it won’t be here for another week or so. Thx, Ellen Ruth!

      They don't need a cure time like soap, but I let them sit for a week before wrapping..

    Hi Ellen, loved this receipe. I attempted to make it however my mixture I noticed solidifyed pretty quickly as I was cooling it to put in the preserative. Just wondering did I make a mistake. I used all your list of ingredients. Thank you so much Ellen for your brillant formulas ❤

    • @EllenRuthSoap

      This combo of ingredients does firm up quickly when cooled, it's okay to gently warm it a bit for a more fluid pour.

      Could I please ask do you have the percentage rates of the ingredients? As I converted it to grams and then tried to work out percentage rates as, I only made a small batch. Many thanks

    These are beautiful. I can't wait to try them. I love all of your recipes! Never any issues with them. One question, what temp did you cool the mixture to before adding FO and Preservative?

      Thanks ❣️ I didn’t actually take the temp when I added, it it was no longer “hot”, just warm…

    I just made your conditioner bars from the recipe here. Why does my batch thicken up so quick? Yours stays a nice and smooth and liquid. This happened with a different recipe I used to use? Thanks for any help! Ellie

    • @EllenRuthSoap

      You can keep a hot water bath near and pop your mixture in it as soon as it starts to thicken..
