What's fascinating about the Red Guy in this episode is that at first it seems like he's just bored of the same old routine and wants something new, but towards the end it becomes clear that he's becoming self-aware of the circumstances he and the other two are in and desperately wants to escape it. It's actually rather sad when he, Duck Guy and Yellow Guy wind up in that wasteland and he's completely broken, to the point where you can even hear him sobbing during the ending narration... Which wow, what a note to end on. 5 episodes in and Don't Hug Me I'm Scared decides to go full meta with it's "story" (which if you go back and rewatch old episodes, you might pick up on hints on where things are going)... Of course, the next episode is the last one of the season, so it all comes down to this... I don't know if anyone will be prepared for what's to come there... Also, the train guy in this episode makes me laugh, particularly when his eyebrows go all angry, and he attacks the Red Guy for no reason. Edit: Fun Fact: "Clay Hill" was the name of the town the trio lived in the original pilot episode. That would explain why the GPS said the town doesn't exist anymore.

I know this is probably silly to mention but being a train enthusiast myself and being fascinated by the history behind them. This episode did a nice job referencing trains subtlety even when the obvious was there. The transport man was old first showing up because steam locomotives are the oldest form of rail transportation. The black drink and the pills to help with his condition represent the coal and water needed for the train to function, otherwise, the transport man cannot transport as well as the mess he makes is a steam locos way of expelling soot and residue from the pipes and funnel and it can affect the engineer and fireman while they are hard at work. Speaking of which, yellow guy, red guy, and duck guy also represented the kinds of people that are associated with trains. Red guy was trying to be the engineer and the conductor at the same time trying to both accommodate the passengers and work on driving the transport. (And yes, I know it changed to a car but the transport man was originally a train, so I go based off of origin XD) Duck guy represents first class as far as trains go because he did not so much care about the scenery more so than he did about what was on the inside such as the luxury cuisines or the first-class entertainment. The yellow guy represents coach, he did not have any of the luxuries, but he was curious about where he was going along the way and the final destination, as any casual train goer in coach would normally feel since there is not much on the inside that can satisfy the needs of an individual compared to first class. Because Red guy was trying to be both the conductor and the engineer, he was overwhelmed and cannot handle the care and maintenance of managing a locomotive alone, and so because of his negligence transport man ended up where most steam locomotives go when they have served their purpose and can no longer be of use. the scrapyard. That place that they were in did give me vibes of a scrap yard in my opinion. Also, I guess you could say that you are included in the group after all because you would represent the train hoppers of the world tagging along for the fun and adventure and having a blast along the way not so much caring about the destinations but treating the journey as the destination. And if you do look up train hoppers know that I mean this in the nicest way possible. 😅
I love this episode so much, it's so good. Transport guy is hilarious and the plot is so unnerving. The next episode is just great, I can't wait to see how you take to it. Oh boy, this is gon' be good
I love how Roy’s presence is stronger than just upfront, man has plenty of cameos. In the intro, try pausing just as the camera is panning over to the cuckoo clock. Roy is sending a soul-piercing stare through a crack in the wall. Before his big reveal in “Family”, he can be seen creeping by outside the window earlier in the same scene. Last time I noticed him was in this one, and I’m not referring to that godly car cameo. During Old Man Porter’s song, the plane that he waves at is being piloted by Roy. Additionally, while in boat mode, Roy is on all the pirate flags. ONE MORE THING, this isn’t related to Roy in any way, but Stain got his name from the stain on the wall that Red introduced him to.

In episode 5’s shot of the three at the campfire near the end, you can see a very hard to see can of duck from episode 5 of the webseries on the left(or maybe right don’t remember) of the frame. To me this hints to how the junkyard isn’t really the real world, rather it’s just a more realistic simulation than their house or the road they drove the car on. The can in the webseries is associated with duck’s weird matrix-type simulation he wakes up from when he’s having his organs eaten, so I believe this truly does show how the junkyard is really just a higher level of the simulation. Love your vids, thanks for the empathy it’s hard to find other nice people who get excited for truly creative art like DHMIS.
That ending is crazy. and they missed out on a lesson about space alcahol. Also it seemed like Red Guy was more selfaware here. Oh also I have a theory that once the plug got pulled in the original series it set the original teachers free sense they no longer are antagonizing like the computure, the clock and lamp are more friendlier towards them. making me believe they were under control the whole time the first time.

You are right about Yellow Guy being a robot duplicate of someone who most likely died, but one thing I wanted to bring up that I hear no one else bring up, is that Yellow Guy always had the 'D' on his overalls (yes, even all the way back in the original web series). It's also highly speculated that Yellow Guy's name is David, and not Duck's as a result (incase you don't remember, the name David was brought up in episode 2: Death).
If you noticed how Warren the worm eagle was ignored, he was also fired from his job according to the newspaper in one episode. He probably didn't even have the authority to enforce his song like the computer did back in the web series. he says they can't stop him from trying, but if he still worked for them maybe he would have the same influence as other teachers. on top of that, I don't think Todney family is even a part of the teachers/lessons/trap thing, they just live there and when they stumbled onto the house they eliminated the teacher and kidnapped the whole group for their own reasons. When Duck and Red Guy left they might have been meant to die, but their connection to the show, just like in this episode brought them home instead. They tried to keep Yellow Guy but Roy, whose entire job is to keep the show on track, went in to save him and get him back in the show. Then in this episode, he was on the road in case he was needed to do it again, just like how he tried to stop Red Guy at the end of the Web Series. Small side theory, they all have episodic amnesia (like how you connect the old episode 5 to the new episode 5) they only remember certain things sometimes, like how Red Guy just has the feeling that he hates the house and doesn't want to be there but only on some days. He threw Roy out of the car, cuz he knew it would be trouble even if he doesn't exactly remember his past interaction with him.

Okay dude I like the content but you’re really making me cringe with the sexual remarks. Pretty much every episode he’s said some shit like “are they gonna be having sex by the end” or here he’s like “don’t take your clothes off” there has not been ONE remotely sexual moment in EITHER SEASON. Like not O N E. I don’t think he realizes it makes him look a bit off when he keeps acting as if you’re supposed to think it’s sexual, they’re sweating at 21:22 bc it’s hot and he won’t give the dog any water. I’ve seen this a million times and seen plenty of people react to it, none of them have ever assumed he was going to take his clothes off and neither did I. Like if there was some overtly sexual episode I’d kind of understand I guess but again there’s not even one remote moment I can think of for my life.

Okay dude I like the content but you’re really making me cringe with the sexual remarks. Pretty much every episode he’s said some shit like “are they gonna be having sex by the end” or here he’s like “don’t take your clothes off” there has not been ONE remotely sexual moment in EITHER SEASON. Like not O N E. I don’t think he realizes it makes him look a bit off when he keeps acting as if you’re supposed to think it’s sexual, they’re sweating at 21:22 bc it’s hot and he won’t give the dog any water. I’ve seen this a million times and seen plenty of people react to it, none of them have ever assumed he was going to take his clothes off and neither did I. Like if there was some overtly sexual episode I’d kind of understand I guess but again there’s not even one remote moment I can think of for my life.
