There is a video of the kid on another channel going over it. The kids local Yamaha dealership was threatened that they would never be able to sell another Yamaha again. Star and Brian Deegan pressured the kid in a meeting (with just the kid in it and not his parents) as well but he didn't budge off that. Then threats to ruin his towns dealership made him release the bike. Screw Deegans, Star and Yamaha if you bring a full factory 100k+ bike to an amateur event to start you deserve 0 respect. MSRPx2 caps bike builds or risk losing it, it's why the rule is there to create a level playing field. Unless your Yamaha, Star or a spoiled entitled Deegan. Lost all respect for those guys after that. Metal Mulisha used to trash kids that did this type stuff when they raced, now they are those brats.
I'm not saying there was bad behavior on the part of any of these entities involved (AMA, MX Sports, Yamaha, Brian Deegan), but if there was bad behavior it would be very tough for Jason to call them out on it given his need to maintain cozy relations with all of them. One thing seems certain, it should be investigated as there are reports of adults cornering and pressuring a child without parents present, and Yamaha making threats to dealerships. Might very well be rumors and nothing more, but it does seem to merit an investigation. One thing's for certain, Haiden is not a decision maker involved in any of this, and he would have likely done just as well on any reasonable bike.
Now that the kid who claimed the bike has told his story in person,I have lost interest in the sport of amateur motocross. I think that Haiden has talent for sure. But now he has a black eye on his squeaky clean personality, along with Brian. Yamaha should be punished in some way for their behavior. This makes me wonder about all the wins with KTM,they were caught with a big bore 50cc when Haiden first started. This is bad for Deegans brand,he says he has worked so hard for and invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in,just to piss on it over 17000.00.

Think about how many bikes have been through LL over 30 years and only a handful have actually been claimed. Why? He was absolutely pressured. If anyone(Star, Deagan’s, Yamaha, etc)wants to know how the public(people that buy dirt bikes) accepts this, I will tell you: the pressure that was put on the kid that claimed the bike means one of two things: either they were absolutely cheating(which I don’t believe to be the case, or it had so many expensive, unavailable parts that Star didn’t want that R&d on the street. What was allowed to be done to this kid in forms of peer pressure makes our sport look petty.
no you don’t know what the really story is, there was an engine guy in Texas that was putting up the money “yes you forgot to mention that”, this was the same kid that that Haiden got into a track a few months earlier, so there is more to the Story, plus the kid is on a yamaha bike too……
If they are going to have a claim ing rule you should be able to claim a bike with zero repercussions. This makes Star Yamaha look like bullies and poor sports.
Hopefully the AMA will get involved, investigate the entire scenario and if it's found the kid was pressured to not pursue the 'claim', Star Racing should be heavily fined and Deegan stripped of his title. If they're not ok with that, they're hiding something.
The kid was offered a bunch of other shit in exchange... It's not like they refused and he walked away empty handed... Regarding the "they're hiding something" scenario, why not protest the bike (pg 334 I think) way cheaper than 18K. 41 riders in 250B, nobody filed a protest. The kid wanted Deegan's last amateur bike and got bought off... he, and or the engine builder that was behind this were making a business decision and nothing else... 18K for all of Yami/ Deegan R&D/ setup.

It seems 100% a ⭐ Racing mistake, and the fact that they get out of it scot-free is a shame. There job for Loretta is to give the boy the best $17.000 YZF 250, KNOWING IT CAN BE CLAIMED.
You can hear the kid's side of the story on the Tyler Livesay channel: "We hear from the racer who tried to claim Haiden Deegan's Bike at Loretta Lynns"
According to some of the absolute genius’ orver at Cooksey Media… Deegan’s bike was special because it had “modified piston timing” and also that it had a “racing powerband” installed. Wow… those guys sound REALLY SMART.
I've lost respect for Cooksy because he is reporting all this crap, but it's all hearsay. He did not witness anything, so to me it's fake news which takes any credibility he had. Just my opinion
@@gordoncalhoun4725 I commented afterwards about the kids version. Cooksy was commenting before the kid came clean. He came off like Haiden was cheating,or that's the way I perceived it. No need for name calling.
Has nobody seen the irony in all this…. A rule like this exists to stop to rich kids / factory teams buying championships, and on the surface it makes sense and creates a very big problem for them if they do create a mega expensive bike. But this problem has always existed, when I raced several of the guys I raced against had two new bikes at the start of the season and two new bikes mid season plus they fitted them out with trip parts but here is the irony to claim a bike at Loretta’s you have have to be able to come up with the cash to buy two bikes and this is at the end of the season… it can only be done by the rich kids or big teams, the teams aren’t going to do it because they don’t want it done to them so this only leaves the rich kids… the kids who are genuinely trying to race motocross on a modest budget (who this rule is there to help) can’t make a claim on another bike because all there budget is simply going into their own bike/season. The other side of it is that factory teams are putting money into the sport, and the cool stuff they work on for the factory team eventually tricked down to the stock bikes anyway.
That's the thing, this kid was smart enough to work and put this kind of money aside, because he knew the rule and knew he could get his hands on an almost factory bike for a bargain price! Shame he didn't go through with it...
To claim a factory team bike in the mod class where you can run modded bikes is ridiculous. Plus to do it or try to do it says the kid doesn't care about racing cause all the teams will black ball anyone that did that. Only happened 2or 3 times in history to factory teams. Plus in that race there were 5 other factory teams. Rule needs to go way of dodo bird in mod class
The purpose of the rule is to have parity at the amateur level. Perhaps the AMA should change the rule to something else, like tear down the motor and ECU for inspection, like NASCAR.
NASCAR is a joke and nobody watches it any more for the reasons you are suggesting. It doesn’t matter how fast that bike is if your ability doesn’t match the ride.

The rule is a great one that keeps amateurs on an even playing field. I’d like to see if Deagan could win without the Star works bike. Sadly, I bet this will be used to change the rule.
@@Suckitupbuttercup407 should make it to where the bikes are tested before and after and have to fall into a certain spec. You don't deserve the r-d of a factory team if you aren't on a factory team. Every have the ability to buy parts and find tuners.
Yamaha called his dealer that sponsors him in Canada and told them if the kid follows through with the claim, yamaha will no longer send him bikes to his dealership. So his sponsor called and told the kid wjat happened, the dealer wasn't even involved prior and out of respect for the shop that supported him, he withdrew his claim... There were other threats, Matt Walker and the kids trainer said some things to the kid he's been training for 3 years that I won't repeat... Matt has always been a loud mouth with a short fuse, but the way everyone pressured the kid, made assumptions, and cornered him a lone in the room with yamaha guys and Brian Deegan and berated and harassed a child without his parents present, well, that needs to be looked into The AMA followed protocol, even said this is a rule that's legal and the kid has the right and did everything by the book. However, a guy that's with AMA in Daytona who has no pull or authority at Lorettas bullied the kid, he's been known to do this to many people. The kid didn't know he didn't have authority, it's real confusing about the different AMA Pro racing and the other one, they arent the same thing and that confusion benefitted that guy in the situation. So that's where the AMA are getting shit on by people but the actual AMA officials at that race did nothing wrong, they treated the kid and situation respect and followed the rule to the letter. That guy who faked his authority needs to be investigated by the AMA he works for. Brian shouldn't of cornered the kid a lone, neither should yamaha or Matt Walker setting him up by texting him to come by his pit and have Yamaha team members sitting there ready to tear him a new one, it was wrong on every level. It could of all been prevented if they didn't bring a factory bike to an amateur race, he didn't need one, infact he rode better with the other engine put in for the race the day after. Put in a lap that was faster than the pros by over 1.5 seconds and the track was worse than it was in the pro moto. Hayden has nothing to do with it, he rides what they give him and he'd win on a stock bike with some decent suspension settings. This is on Star and who ever made the decision to take that bike and engine package, not the kid who filed the claim or anyone else. Don't bring something you're afraid to lose, whether it be money invested, or losing in house factory pieces that gives Star their secret sauce when building the fastest bike in the pro pits.

Just note that of all the previous riders for this star team rode the same bikes at the same amateur races. And not one was claimed. Nor has one been claimed against any other factory am team. The only difference is the kid that’s on this one has a large following. He’s been targeted for the past few years and people wanna ride that clout train.
There are a few interviews on RUclips now, with Brennan & his mechanic, saying they were both physically threatened and threatened with loss of sponsorship, etc. Seriously, this a bad bad thing. And, it's why the Claimant withdrew his Claim. : //

Wrong Steve, he did get blackballed. The kid lost his sponsors.. boycott those companies that cant follow the rules and like to screw over the little guy racer.
Created an account just to post this. Completely unbiased(Dont watch deegan or amatures). If the rule is that the bike can be claimed and the kid claimed it, something happened to steer the deal in the other direction. The only thing could have been pressure from others. Being that we know as a fact he was pressured by MX sports in basically an interagation(why does he have any say?), Brian, yamaha, that is complete bullshit and they should all be ashamed of themselves. Also weege says that "he wanted to break the motor down" then say " he wanted to ride it on youtube" Then divert away from the motor and go to an ECU is bullshit. I would call the team out if that was the rules just because its the right thing to do if they had more than 18k in the bike. Because clearly they did. Deegan should have his win rescinded for this. Clearly money rules in the sport. All you amature parents should be livid! He doesnt deserve a title if he violated the rules, then was defended by the industry....

A claim is a purchase. They offered something better to Schofield and he decided he liked that better. Been all over the rule book... if they denied the "sale" his results are pulled. It wasn't denied. It's not like they refused a tear down after a protest.
Spending more than 18K is not a violation. The rule is just to discourage anyone not to spend much on their bike because anyone can claimed your bike for 18K even if you cost 30K on your bike
Less about the cost and more about the time and technology put into developing it specifically for Haiden and his style. It was not a "Pro Bike" it was a Haiden's Bike thats why it's priceless, irreplaceable and one of kind.
One of a kind.... just like all of Haiden's other Star bikes that are set up the same way. They signed the form on the bottom that has the same rules everyone else has to sign before they raced. Anyone in that class can claim it for 2x MSRP. In this case, someone did.
Because it's R & D. Deegan had several different classes to race so one moto (as witnessed with the wheel) won't knock him out of all the championships. Star can test many different things for power, type of power, longevity, etc. without taking chances at an outdoor National or Supercross loss. If the AMA would have torn it down in private to check if anything was illegal then everyone would have an answer and Deegan would be $18K richer and there would be no controversy. Just another whiney dad stirring the pot for "what if".

There was so much pressure on the kid not to Clam the bike by Yamaha. Yamaha had a works bike at Loretta Lynn and did not want to get caught. Some body need to be Fired at Yamaha. Haiden was put in a very bad spot by someone at Yamaha.
Not hard to figure out why he backed out. They would of black balled his ass right out of the sport and the dealership that sponsored him wouldn’t have ever sold Yamaha again. Bunch of bull shit if you don’t like the rules don’t play the game or work to change the rules.
You'd have to be a fool to think there wasn't life changing pressure applied on him. In the big picture an amateur rider shouldn't be racing an amateur race on a full factory bike.
Changing the motor would have benefited the rider that claimed the bike. Because he would have got the engine that was removed and the motor they put into the frame
The Deegans have been accused of cheater bikes since Haiden was on 65's. I'm not going to take anything that Cooksey says at face value when it comes to the Deegans because he always likes to stir the pot with them. Maybe this is a chance to take away some of the professionalism in youth Amatuer racing and get rid of pro level teams at these events and also maybe it is time for the AMA to introduce MX3 / SX3 for these young riders from the age of 15-18 to show there talent.

Has nobody seen the irony in all this….

Just thinking how about the AMA suspension for the one year. Like the rule book States ?For not following the rule book and harassing a kid.
perfect...love it
You'd have to be a fool to think there wasn't life changing pressure applied on him. In the big picture an amateur rider shouldn't be racing an amateur race on a full factory bike.
Dude lost his main sponsor and all his bikes…. Pretty sketchy situation!
Changing the motor would have benefited the rider that claimed the bike. Because he would have got the engine that was removed and the motor they put into the frame
How heard Yamaha threaten his major sponsor back home and if he went throw with it that dealership would loose it’s franchise.
Answers are in the interview with Tyler livesay. Basically yamaha pressured the dealer to recind the riders sponsorship if he went through with it.
The Deegans have been accused of cheater bikes since Haiden was on 65's. I'm not going to take anything that Cooksey says at face value when it comes to the Deegans because he always likes to stir the pot with them. Maybe this is a chance to take away some of the professionalism in youth Amatuer racing and get rid of pro level teams at these events and also maybe it is time for the AMA to introduce MX3 / SX3 for these young riders from the age of 15-18 to show there talent.
and i’m watching brains live right now and he says it’s technically illegal to clickbait his name since he’s only 16
Well it’s easy to till this was a cheater bike or they’d just sell it ( by rules have to or they’ll be banned from racing for up to a year ) but no they have a free motor away and let the kid use it in a RUclips video.
Cooksey is a scumbag!!! He did the same thing last year before lorettas when he started the star Yamaha rumors..wont be long before he burns all of his bridges and is left stranded on METH ISLAND
@@bbdl7042 That bike is what haiden uses every single day, that yamaha amateur spec bike has been tuned and modified to fit haiden and what he likes, so many hours of hard work from people and you think its okay for another engine tech to just take that away coz he wants it??? It's not right dude, if you want a fast bike you work for it, you dont just grab someone else's. Thee deegans are a class act and they always abide the rules, people are just so jealous and wants what they have without putting in the work.
Cookesy was just clout chasing for clicks
What do you wanna bet that "IF" it had been claimed.....it would have rolled into the trailer, closed the door and the world's fastest engine swap would have taken place.
I’m not with either side on this but I would be pissed if my bike was claimed because I guarantee this bike would have ended up being with all Deegans other race bikes in the garage which is cool to have all of the bikes that you have won championships on but I also get the rule for making it fair and don’t blame the kid for claiming it if he wanted to do a RUclips video about the bike that would have been a huge video or if he straight up wanted it for racing next year because you won’t find a better bike then a star racing bike.
The kid would have got destroyed if he posted a RUclips video the comments would have been ridiculous
@@nickcollins1528 I totally agree but the views would have been insane which is what im guessing was there only goal
@@yu-gi-boy-tcg I don't think It was for RUclips I believe the engine builder story. Engine builder told the kid to claim and he would pay for it. Engine builder gets cheap r and d
And taking that path would have defused all the thoughts of cheating. Just offer the claimant something else. But they didn't, they chose to go the all out intimidation route.
@@nickcollins1528 Agreed...
Nice job taking the fun out for the kids
@Cozo the Blown Integrity
ok serious question, are there any mods that would disqualify the bike if the class is mod? i was under the impression that anything goes
its not about the bike as such....it could be a million dollar time machine with every widget on it...which is the problem..its not cheating to have it and race it..but if anyone can get there hands on it for cheap you are going to be in the poo....poor race craft and poor management desicions to run an expensive works bike in that class with those rules....how much better publicity if it had gone through and the young guy got an immaculately prepared bike with a great motor and awesome suspension to show off on you tube and race...would have been huge publicity for yamaha!! complete failure of management to fail to adjust to the class rules...this is what managers are paid for!
@@jdhart111 wow...great point. love it!
strip the title from haiden and cancel the deegans!
Still pushing for Deegan for sure. Want to see his success continue. But man. Go to Vital MX. They have and interview with Brennan Schofield (may have name slightly wrong) the kid who claimed the bike saying what happened. My perspective is the rule is the rule and should be followed. No one should have special or preferential treatment.
I will never be a fan of the Deegan family. They are horrible people!!!
yes, on a differnt brand will be fine
We do know why he backed out. We know who the players were.
Go on..
Lol I love hearing this story from different level of sources. From the top big sources, the kid wasn't pressured. From a few smaller hardcore sources, the kid was trapped in a room like a criminal while different officials along with BRIAN FUCKING DEEGAN came in and "explained" why this was a bad idea lol. Like fuck 🤦🏻♂️😂
His sponsor owns a dealership and it was threatened to be taken away. Fact. Dig a little more people. He was confronted multiple times by adults. They should have just gave him the bike.
Yamaha made some serious threats to the young man who made the claim, and did this wen his dad wasn't around. Pretty lame on Yamaha.
What a good idea claim his last amateur bike and sell it when he becomes the goat later in life
this video is like listening to the government interview themselves and finding no wrong doing.
Lol
The kids sponsor owns a Yamaha dealership Yamaha called the sponsor up and told him we are going to cancel your contracts with us if this doesn’t go away. the kid then had no other choice but to reverse his actions
He was pressured. I started racing motocross in the late 70s , the factory porting specs on Marty Smith,S factory Honda slipped out, a friend of mine had a local guy do it to his Honda Elsinore….. he couldn’t even ride it it was so rad. I’m glad to hear LL place is still going. There’s so much money in pro motocross now. Unbelievable
I forgot all about the porting specs coming out. The Elsinore was nasty enough without the crazy port job. I met Marty at a party about 10 years ago and he was telling some great stories. RIP Marty.
Broke the rules, then used bully tactics to get out of the situation.
EXACTY....fkn pos cheaters all around
They said being Yamaha his sponsor would lose his Yamaha dealership in Canada and a bunch of guys jumped him at night I live in Tennessee and they pretty much blew the top of it two adults bullied him to giving up
Sad as hell. Deegans have no class and politics in moto is bullshit
The kid was Yamaha support going after Yamaha’s top amateurs bike doesn’t win him any favors I’m sure Yamaha told him withdraw the claim or lose your support.
This is a great big smear for Star Yamaha. They should be ashamed of themselves.
So basically Deegan was riding a Pro bike in Amatuer class? and the factory didn't want anyone to discover they were cheating?
They didn’t want another guy running his bike…
more importantly they didnt want the technology that was in that bike getting out
@@peaceprayer595 the engine was Pro spec build in an amateur class hat's what the issue was they didn't want to get caught out for cheating.
@@davidbjorkholm310 no they were gonna let the dude take the bike with another engine there was some low-key cheating end of discussion and it would have burned deegans reputation but that shouldn't take away the kids ability as champion rider but it would have.
They had a few factory parts on that bike cams for one probably a gearbox valves and or head that’s why
I heard he was harassed in the camping area all night! Then he was confronted by factory Yamaha also! A factory Yamaha rep contacted his Canadian spouncer and threatened that dealership to pull their franchise away! Then he folded the reclaim! I also heard Brian Deegan and a unufilliated MX spouncer took the Seventeen year old in a closed room to talk to him behind closed doors!
Ya it was Tim cotter
You can’t trust someone who cannot spell ‘sponser’ ... in the sea, pal
So in this world of phones in everyone’s pocket, is there any video of ANY of this harassment, intimidation etc. Not saying it didn’t happen but, hard to believe NO ONE got a minute of video, especially considering it involved the Deegans.
I love all the “I heard” claims….does anyone have any proof….first hand/video?? Has Cooksey or PULPMX called the kid and had him on to tell his side?? Why not??
@@greglawson3805 right. You have one guy that RUclipsd a bunch of “alleged” facts that he even kept saying was alleged and now all of a sudden those have become facts. It’s like CNN of motocross. Is what is a shame but always happens in ALL sports is the cry babies that can’t and don’t put in the work try to bring them down to their level. I hope the Deegans don’t even succumb to the BS and drama and just go keep winning races. The dude just dominates and doesn’t “dust “ off his shoulder etc. kid is winning the right way. With hard work.
Anyone who was not present knows what really happened, just hearsay. The claim doesn't bother me as much as the threats during the night. That's not how Brian would act,or so I thought.
If the threats were true i dont think they werr from brian or the deegan side. star yam has their own agenda wit deegan. Deegans jus a number to them
I heard B. Deagan put up a video, since he was mentioned to intervene with the buying rider, against Cooksie and then pulled the video away. Seems like some back door conversations happened.
If they want it to be fair make it to where the bikes have to fall into a certain spec
that is the entire plan of the claim it rule. yamaha got caught investing WAY more than they should have including components they don't want anyone to get their hands on. they extored both dealerships and this kid in the process. it's the new fked up way america thinks. piss on everybody...its a cancel cultrure woke type bs
Yamaha that the kid rides for was told if haden loses his bike the owner of his team that owns a yamaha deler ship will drop him as a dealer ship so the owner told the rider to leave the bike alone
Allegedly Yamaha threatened to pull the kids sponsors dealership.
Holy shit… what?!
Yeah and they should the kid was Yamaha support so why piss off your main sponsor by going after their top amateurs bike. He did it for clout to make RUclips videos and it blew up in his face.
@@jonruger he should blow up in Yamaha and brains face with a massive lawsuit. While you at it force the one year ban of the spoon fed 15 year old for the refusal to sell.
@@jonruger no, that was an insane tactic (if true) by factory Yamaha. Why should a dealer lose his livelihood because a kid he sponsors enacted a rule he was completely entitled to? Funny how Brian D. has said in the past that he didn't want things held against his kids that he Brian had done racing in the past. Then turns around and does this crap, I know money usually wins. I have lost a lot of respect for B.D. and star and the AMA for allowing this to happen.
In my humble opinion if you want to see good racing make it so all bikes are even, I realize the factory's dump a lot of money into this sport however I think if you take the works part out of racing it would level things and put the race back into the riders hands. Then we would see if the top 10 are as good as they seem be
Remember when deegan use to “fight the man” now he is the main using the corp yamaha machine to push people sround

So are you saying... If I go with my bike and somebody wants it. They pay me for it and they get the bike.... Even if I have no intention of selling my bike?
Yes
No. If your bike gets claimed you can say no
But they have to pay double retail price. It stops people dumping bulking $ into a bike. Keep it under double retail and if someone claims your bike you’ll make a profit.
