What a great-great tips... Can't wait to practice it on the court. Btw... How you suggest breath circulation at the 'Serve' condition? Do you think should i do the inhale when throw the ball to the air and exhale when hit the serve?
I like to inhale on the way into the trophy position, then start the exhale then, sometimes I'll even exhale slowly from the start and then speed it up as I go along, it takes some practice on the serve

@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Yes I have. On Monday training again inside on tennis court. I would like to know how to have that speed (even more speed compared to flat serve) and still get kick serve going over the net and bouncing.
Thanks for great video. I have just one question about tracking the ball. If you watch Federer, he stays looking at the contact point after shot, so he can't track the ball when it is flying to the opponent, right?
His head might stay down but his eyes can move, he might lose it for a split second or two but that would be worth the clean contact and those initial few feet when the ball comes off your own racket would be a time that tracking isn't as important as at all other times
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial You know, Simon, I'm not familiar to any rating system which defines a tennis skill level of a person. But if we imagine a scale from 0 to 10 by which a person who never held a tennis racket would be "0" and Federer/Nadal and other top 100-200 people in the world would be "10" then I'd consider myself a "2". Also I'm not a kid. I'm in my 30s. So being such a beginner in tennis I'm all for basics like these in the video. Watching the ball, breathing, hitting cross, keeping the ball deep and high above the net... very basic things. I guess that's all what I need to remember now during practices/matches. Maybe I'd be also interested in tennis gear opinions and basic "rules". Like "this type of frame gives you this" and "this type of string with this tension gives you this" and such. There's an ocean of gear stuff which beginners are not certain and confused about. Many racket frames, even more strings... too stiff frame and/or too stiff strings = tennis elbow. I don't wanna become injured but I also do want to feel comfortable, find the right gear solution(s) for me and forget about it to focus on my game and on improving from "2" to "3", then to "4" etc. That's the point where I am now. I try to get much of what you guys advise and I'm grateful. Thank you for your videos.
Absolutely spot on! Thank you for posting! I read the comment about wanting a video on "how to construct points". I think that I have an understanding of how to construct points, but when I'm in a rally, I always feel that I'm on defense, I never get the opportunity to "construct" a point. I'll hit a good deep ball to their backhand, the opponent slices a short angle cross-court to my backhand, and I'm running! The planned construction of a point never seems to happen for me. What can I do to improve my defensive posture?
Try to train certain patterns in practice over and over again. One of the drills I do with my players is you rally crosscourt and one player is the boss, whenever they want to, they hit down the line and the point is open. Change over so both players get that chance. This is the simplest yet most effective pattern to work on from the baseline
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Sounds like a good one. I'll try it with my partner today! (Are you releasing the forehand slice video soon? I'm finding it hard and getting mixed advice from other players. Thanks.)

Hi Simon, I’m a solid player but too often I come off the ball and don’t take a full swing. It’s a mental thing but over time it has shortened up my forehand stroke. Any advice to address this?
Get your coach or partner to feed you balls and hold the finish for 2-3 seconds on every shot, make sure the coach doesn't feed the next ball until you've held the finish. This will reinforce the ending and help you remember when you go back to hitting You could start every session with 5-10 minutes of holding the finish All the best Simon
1. Always track the ball. Also if the Ball is on the other side of the field. 2. Breath out while you swing, dont breath out after the swing and hold your Breath while you're swinging. 3. Don't try to play the ball at the lines and dont try to play the ball near over the net. Try to play the ball a lot over the net and away from the lines. You get great Topspin and height if you let the racket drop low before you hit the ball. 4. If you play Cross court you Can recover longer.
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Simon, in case I have I will post as I can see that you really put an effort to make excellent videos for the posted request. I'll try to implement your suggestions to improve my precision, thanks!
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Would love some basics for one handed backhand video if possible please. Maybe some simple and easy tips to execute it consistently? Thank you very much, Simon.
String tension question. What string tension are you playing with? I've just changed strings and tension from really high tension (maybe 28 kg) to 24 kg and are noticing a drastic effect. Some positive effects but also the added power makes the flat shots more prone to get out of control. Would be great to hear you speak about string tension and how to evaluate your personal perfect tension. Thanks for all the great content!
Oh that’s pretty low tension. Just got of the court and was thinking of raising the tension up a bit or working on the technique to be able to control it.. Such video would be much appreciated.
@@henrikbrolin2765 Racquet tension, to some degree , is determined by the type of string you use; for example, Luxilon is strung at 10% lower, so if you want 55 lbs in the mains, for example, using Lux you would string it at 50lbs. Incidentally, Roger uses a "soft" string (like natural gut or Wilson NXT) in the mains and Lux (which is kinda like piano wire) in the crosses. As a general rule: lower tension for more power, higher tension for more control. Remember Borg, who had his (wooden) Donnay Borg Pro strung at 78 lbs? I've seen, on TV, his frame implode from the high tension. But at the end of the day, "it ain't about the bike"; it's about what Simon says in this video. However, he (probably out of kindness, or possibly instructor apathy) neglected one other MAJOR factor, the thing most amateurs hate to hear (or do): SPLIT STEP! Oh God, why did I have to say THAT!!
@@meafordmichael Yeah I can imagine there is a whole lot of variables to take into consideration. Can't say I really remember Borg, being too young when he was active, but as a Swede he has fore sure been a big part of the interest in tennis. There also were a lot of courts built during the 80:s in Sweden and a lot of them open to the public for free.
How do I lag if that was the word... How do I lag without the racket aiming up or down? It’s like when I swing normally with some of the lag on the racket it’s like the racket has a seizure and the ball is hit up or a whole different angle somehow
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial It's my pleasure to watch your videos I do struggle with the contact point in my shots so I'd like to learn more about hitting more consistent shots
Lol I'm sure they both know and work on it, but the stress of the match kicks in and they forget. Djokovic is a hawk with his eyes and is very good at the breathing, sometimes he does hold his breath in when in matches though, in practice I always hear him exhaling through the strike zone
I am confused on how to track the ball. Whenever I watch the ball, I end up watching my own shot and I struggle to tell where the opponent's shot is going and how deep it will be. As a result, I react late, am out of position and either leave an easy ball for my opponent or make an error myself. Generally, because of this, I have always struggled against hard hitters. Anyone have any tips??? Thank you in advance, I love your videos!
Part of tracking the ball is also watching your shot, seeing where it lands and moving into the right position as you do so. Maybe you are doing what I like to call "admiring your own shot" this is where you stop and watch instead of move and watch. If you stay active with your feet, this problem should be simple to solve
Hey guys, this is not related to the video but I wasn’t sure where else to post this. It would be really nice to see you guys use and analyze some women tennis players as well.
right when the ball makes contact with your racket is when you know if youve screwed up or not. you cant see where the ball gets hit, but you can feel it.
Some people say that people who play with two hands are more powerful but some people also play really good with one hand. I'm more of a one hand player.

You know, Simon, I'm not familiar to any rating system which defines a tennis skill level of a person.
Hi! I have tryouts in a week and my problem is I get very conscious when my coach watches me! I never hit my best when this happens. Any tips?
would you mind telling us what string do you use for your racquet? Thanks
I use poly strings for all my rackets, a small, unknown brand currently
Top Tennis Training - Pro Tennis Lessons How about the tension of the string?
Normally around 48-50 lbs
Thanks.)
Is there any tip to track the high ball playing in summer in scorching sun? I often wonder how players track high balls in sun? My little boy tries it and often complains about sun getting in eyes particularly when no sun glasses. Thank you
It's a constant battle in the sun, you have to try to adjust as best as you can.
There's no easy fix really

Simon and Alex, why don't you guys do equipment reviews (rackets, strings etc)? It would be nice to know your opinions since you guys are so high level compared to the rest of the people on youtube
We did do a few in the past:
1 - ruclips.net/video/TVEAjSObotA/видео.html
2 - ruclips.net/video/xAOPr56I6GI/видео.html
3 - ruclips.net/video/ANW2bq3gyPA/видео.html
It takes a lot of work for one video, we focus more on lessons for players and they seem to be what 90% of the subs want but if enough people want us to restart the review videos, we would do it
which racquet do you use ?
thanks

Hi Simon, I’m a solid player but too often I come off the ball and don’t take a full swing. It’s a mental thing but over time it has shortened up my forehand stroke. Any advice to address this?
Get your coach or partner to feed you balls and hold the finish for 2-3 seconds on every shot, make sure the coach doesn't feed the next ball until you've held the finish.
This will reinforce the ending and help you remember when you go back to hitting
You could start every session with 5-10 minutes of holding the finish
All the best
Simon
use a ball machine...easiest way to get better timing and focus on full/relaxed swing
Thank you, My girlfriend keeps hitting home runs. Now that she knows about top spin hopefully we can actually play tennis.

Flat serves are high risk unless you're tall, I would aim to get more power on serve using these drills - ruclips.net/video/2fJgWjcEUC8/видео.html
I normally get my racket strung around 48-50lbs
We need to make an in-depth video on the subject

4:50 whoa, imagine if Nadal, Djokovic knew about this trick, they would have won like 5-10 more grand slams ;-)
Lol I'm sure they both know and work on it, but the stress of the match kicks in and they forget.
Djokovic is a hawk with his eyes and is very good at the breathing, sometimes he does hold his breath in when in matches though, in practice I always hear him exhaling through the strike zone

Hi maybe a video on approaching the ball?
Or lobbing
Which racket is that?
The all white frame is a prototype, painted to protect the racket identity

What is the most important thing to focus on when you're playing tennis?
To keep the ball in play?
do not hate the players, hate the game

I think its keep your head still during contact and not decelerate🤔
footwork
right when the ball makes contact with your racket is when you know if youve screwed up or not. you cant see where the ball gets hit, but you can feel it.
