I always downloaded third-party antivirus like Avast, AVG and McAfee on my previous PCs/laptops. However, on my current laptop (which I bought in April 2020), I have only used Windows Defender.
Those McAfee screenshots actually look like malicious browser hijack pop ups meant to trick and scare the user to click the link. I believe they’re using the browser’s notification capabilities or sometimes within the browser to make these pop ups possible…. But I still believe McAfee is junk and would never recommend that product.
I assume the only reasons to run antivirus on linux are for specific scenarios like if your machine/server is communicating with windows users or if it's used for business/enterprise scenarios.
What do you think about F-Secure products? I completely agree about mcafee and norton being basically an Adware, hehehe. i got a couple of extra questions, in what cases is necessary to have a good AV? and which one would you recommend?
I haven't interfaced with F-Secure products, so I do not have an opinion on them. I think 3rd party AV is good for when you are downloading lots of files, interfacing with "dangerous" websites, and general offsec stuff. I do not recommend a specific one. I have heard great things from MalwareBytes. This is the one I recommend people start off with. It's reputable. I also had the chance to play around with Trend Micro's solution (full disclosure, they sponsored a video a while back), it seemed pretty good.
Since hackers nowdays prefer to make attacks on enterprises, i actually agree with you Small individual information is kinda useless for hackers, so they dont't even waste time on attacking us in our homes And I think that totally make sense
Can anyone tell me how to get current trending topics news .. like Devin .. so how to learn Ai ..other things ..all and all how to keep in touch.. and learn new things in industry which are industry
@ChineseRatfaceCHANG Maybe but there is no web protection or Ransomeware protection or fixing options and i can't make exceptions list like any other third-party antivirus.
The short answer is no. Depends also on your thread model.
I HAVE NO ANTIVIRUS IN ANY OF MY EQUIPMENTS. STILL THEEY ARE VERY SAFE .
How do you know they’re safe without scanning with an AV lol

I download and run repacks, run mods, visit sketchy websites etc. Need that 2nd opinion. Also good to review browser site settings.

You sound like a prime target for getting caught with their pants down if thats your reasoning for thinking your safe.
Did you find a good job when you graduated college? I have no tech experience and I’m considering going back to college for a degree.

No need for an Antivirus when your running Linux.
300 antivirus for Windows does not protect as well as the standard Linux OS
Theyre starting to engineer more malware for linux
XZ Linux backdoor just recently. lol
