Good on you using a phone to do the video. I am happy with you doing that. Lovely photographs. It is very interesting to see the photos you are getting out of this camera with the limitations it has. Thanks.
Hi Grant, glad to see you out and about with that cute camera. I wish you could find the viewfinder at a discount. Would make a huge difference. I love LUMIX!
I’ve got the gf2. It’s great (the back screen) when you’re indoors - I took some cracking shots in a Cathedral near me. The other way to manage the back-screen in bright sun is to find a place to stand in shade and shoot from there. A limitation, indeed, but it makes you think differently and get shots you wouldn’t otherwise.
Totally relate to your comment about enjoying the limitations of the older technology. As well as various more recent M43 bodies I also have a GF1 and recently bought an Olympus E-PL6 for a good price. For some reason I am currently preferring to use the E-PL6 as my everyday camera over my other cameras with better specs and am very happy with the photos I am taking with it. Just a pleasure to use it with any of the Olympus or Lumix primes. This has inspired me to get my GF1 out for shooting too! Admittedly the GF1 is 5 years older than the E-PL6 so is a bit more challenging with the screen etc.
I have the GF1 and the 25mm f1.7 but prefer a slightly longer focal length so use the Sigma 30mm f2.8, in bright Aussie conditions it's more than enough. Works well with the Pan 20mm too of course. Cheers.
I received the camera last week. Ordered an EVF over the weekend. I agree on the screen. I actually have a second one coming. It had a 14-140 mounted on it for much less than the lens costs. It’s a lens I don’t have so I purchased the lens and basically got a free camera.
I have used it on commercial shoots that need a lo-fi look for products and portraits. It does the job if you compose correctly without reframing to avoid pixel loss. Then again, any camera in a studio environment can do the job. It slightly lacks a bit of sharpness, which isn't lens related and tonal variation is not incredible, but it's great for flat, even lighting. I wouldn't use it for pictures that need high contrast.
When I briefly owned the GX1 I so wanted the viewfinder, $160 USD was a bit out of my price range for a used viewfinder. If you have an opportunity to pick up a DMC-GM1 I would recommend it as it is now a collectors item in the MFT community. I have owned the GX1, GF2 and the GM1. The GX1 is by far my fav!!! BTW Great content.
I'm big, and ugly, plus side is anyone would have to have rocks in their head to do the "oi what you doing!" thing to me..., on the down side... I'm big and ugly 😜 I pretty much had the EVF permanently mounted to my GF1 not because I used it all the time (mainly in bright light) but because I was so worried about losing it if I took it off - even back then it was not cheap
you showed the lvf2 view finder. i have this camera with the lvf1. im not sure the lvf2 fits the gf1. anybody please correct me if im wrong, id like to know if the lvf2 fits a gm1.

For the Panasonic GF1 you need the DMW-LVF1. LVF2 is for the GX1.

Yeah, I'm unsure... It was just a price guide :)
Hi, lvf2 will not fit the GF1. Cheers.
