I have just had to do this for two of my quail and I am sooo nervous awaiting to see if they survive. They are back in the incubator and I’ve got everything crossed and holding my breath 😩😩
This looks like NR 360. If so, I have found even with 70% humidity after lockdown the egg shells on day 18 are surprizingly hard. My question is how do you know when the blood has withdrawn from the membranes, to do the rescue, so the chick does not bleed out?
I'm not sure there is a definite way to tell BUT my rule of thumb is ... NEVER attempt to rescue a chick until day 4 post due date. That way IF there's a live chick, by that time the yolk should be absorbed and there should be no blood left (or not enough to jeopardize the chick). So if it was due to hatch on the 5th, I don't float or attempt to rescue until the 9th
@@missiontomicrofarming152 Thank you for explaining that. This is my first time attempting to hatch anything. I am on day 19 of trying to hatch coturnix quail. Hoping they don’t all die. Ugh Stressful waiting. lol
This one was actually a day AFTER the rest had hatched and I had already started tearing down the incubator by the time I found it. I originally thought it was a dud because it pipped on the bottom instead of top. Therefore it literally trapped itself inside. Then because I was opening and closing the incubator for cleaning etc. I vac sealed it right in there 😳 He was successfully rescued though.

Good Job 👍🐣
What tool was she using?
Looks like a metal ear wax remover tool.
Was this another dry hatch?
