  • This review is a promised continuance of an in depth high round count review of the Sig P365. We also compare our older P365 to the newest generation P365. There are a few updates mentioned in the video that you might appreciate knowing about. There is also a sneak peek of a new pistol we're starting to review!
    Manufacture Dates of Old and New P365's in this video, respectively: 21-January-2018 and 23-May-2019.
    Here is a link to a video we released comparing several different trigger types. • Video
    Below is a holster review from a viewer of this video (more reviews can be seen on our site, in the video comments, facebook, google, etc)
    "WPAJR on 4 Oct 12:25
    I discovered ProTEQ fortuitously, while watching a video Stephen did on Sig P365 trigger and slide safety. I purchased a micro holster from this company and have to say that the quality and engineering of this holster are absolutely fantastic. Pretty much exactly as described in the videos on the site. The other thing that I would confirm for anybody who is considering using ProTEQ; rest assured that this company starting with Stephen is one of the most customer receptive companies I’ve ever dealt with. I emailed Stephen personally with a couple questions from watching some of the videos and immediately was answered and his staff has been equally professional. It’s nice to see a company really pride itself on the highest quality products as well as the highest quality customer service. If you are considering a holster - no need to shop around any further. ProTEQ has everything that you need."
    Here is a link to our website for anybody who would like to know more about us!
    Stephen's holster model of choice is the Kybrid Micro, shown in this video.

      @Free Dom -
      Great pistol?...sure.
      Accurate?...absolutely hell yes!
      Durable?...kinda.
      Reliable?...history through those owners has shown it's not.
      Many of those P365 owners are not happy. I know many many of them who have issues and other have sold their P365 because of issues, many of the P365 for sell at my local gun stores are used. I've tested many of them but haven't found one worthy of buying. The new Springfield Hellcat is around the same size with 1 more round. The grip is far better than the P365's tiny slim grip that has that annoying sharp vertical edge around the back that digs into my center palm, the Hellcat ugly sights are not impressive but better for me than the low dim green P365's sights in the day. At night the Hellcat sights suck and the P365's are far better, but I use a light on my bedside pistols. The Hellcat has an optional mounted red dot which is pretty stupid for a defensive micro, but the new P365 SAS is even more stupid with it's useless flush rear sight and non existing slide release lever.
      The Hellcat 13 round mag feels shorter than the P365 12 round mag. The Hellcat trigger is far better for me, it's short crisp clean break, I hate the annoying super long over-travel spongy triggers on the P365. My accuracy with the Hellcat is the same as with the P365, G43, G43x, Shield, Ruger LCP. Also the G43x has the new 15 round flush mag from Shield Arms that makes the G43x a tiny version of a G19. It's basically the same size of a P365-12 round extension but with a G19 capacity, WOW! And the G43x has so far proven to be far more reliable than the P365.
      Only question now, is the Hellcat reliable? If it's at least as reliable as the G43, the Hellcat automatically becomes the #1 micro 9mm pistol to have. I'm not a fan of Springfield Armory and their anti-2nd amendment agenda, but I'm not a fan of Sig's illegal shipment of firearms to Cartel and corrupt government militia in Columbia and south American countries either. But hey, they both make good pistols.

Anyways, I just bought the P365 for my daily, because I adore my M18 that I bought a few months ago , so my boy (who wanted to join the Marines since he was around 16) will be more familiar with firing and tearing down that beautiful sidearm. Excellent comprehensive evaluation! I especially appreciate your command of the language and your ability to articulate your subject matter so succinctly.
    I purchased my P365 in May of 2018 and have run about 4000 rounds through it. It is a very smooth, very consistent shooter, as well as a very comfortable EDC.
    The only issue I've had recently is an occasional failure to lock back on the last round. My RSO suggested that with a thumbs-forward grip, I may be touching the slide release. However, I shoot right- and left-handed, one-handed, and I still experience the occasional failure to lock back. This is all with factory ammo; I've never put reloads through it. In spite of that, I'll continue to carry my P365, and experiment with different ammo.
    Thanks again!

      @Free Dom - The reason nobody really cares or notices any changes to the G43 because that pistol has been very reliable since it's intro. If it was having as many issues as the P365 everyone would be monitoring every detail about it. As for the G42, that thing had so many issues but good many people don't like the .380 acp and it didn't matter to 9mm enthusiast.

You and others on You Tube do a great service keeping a lot of junk guns off the market because these manufactures know if something is bad they don't get away with it. Years ago we had no way of knowing if a certain gun was any good except by word of mouth or maybe a magazine article that seldom said anything bad because of advertising dollars they got.

    The guys over at Sig Talk reported that the p365XL striker is now also being used in the p365... The XL striker apparently has a non-symmetrical tip, and it doesn't cause primer drag with the XL. They have pics of spent brass from a couple new p365s with no primer drag marks.

    • @proteqcustomgear
      @proteqcustomgear  5 лет назад +1

      Hmm. I'll have to look into that one a little more. The tip on the new striker that we have in-house appears to be symmetrical. I would attribute the lesser striker drag to the added slide mass which will allow them to unlock a little later so the striker can retract before the barrel shifts downward upon unlocking.

    • @freedom8672
      @freedom8672 5 лет назад

      @@proteqcustomgear Interesting... when was your new p365 made? There'll be a label on the plastic box. The SigTalk guys opined that Sig is putting the XL strikers in the most recently made p365s. I'm not sure if you have an XL. Let us know what you find out.

    • @freedom8672
      @freedom8672 5 лет назад

      @Ghost I know about the Browning tilting barrel design and the physics of it- more slide mass and length reduces drag, just like drag increases as cartridge pressure goes up. The ST guys seemed fairly certain the XL's tip was non-symmetrical, and that Sig now uses it in the p365. I think they have pics of primer hits with no drag and the asymmetrical holes.
      How about all three of us do a little more research and see what we find. Might be interesting.

      @@proteqcustomgear I looked again at the Sig Talk threads on it, and the XL striker tip has a chisel shape- it's not symmetrical. it looks like Sig also started putting them into p365s about mid July '19. Owners of p365s with the XL striker are reporting no drag marks- just like the with the 365XL. Links below: sigtalk.com/p365/355848-p365xl-firing-pin-tip-angled.html

    Just found your website a few hours ago... the day after Veterans Day... so the first order of business is to thank you for your service, both to our country (or what's left of it) and also for the service you provide to your subscribers and viewers. From the brief look at the comments I would say that you are rather well received, to say the least!
    I normally would not be inclined to start asking questions so soon after subscribing, however... since I have recently purchased a P365 and had seen in the comments what your background was and that you are an independent contractor and therefore not contractually constrained by consultation with any entity...I decided to go ahead with the question since something already came up about it in the comments.
    After a fairly thorough review of the P365 owners manual I was somewhat surprised by the level of activity associated with the Tritium sights on the pistol. The several tens of milli-curies seemed like a rather high level of activity and when I examined the sights it occurred to me that the capsules utilized for containment might be subject to leakage either via chemical solvents or the continued physical abuse that it would be put through as the round count went on...or a combination of both. If I am not mistaken, it was recommended that the changing out of the sights should be done by the factory... which I think is definitely the best way to go.
    I know that in many parts of the country that the levels of background radiation which are mostly due to the decay chains of Thorium and Uranium can lead to relatively high levels radiation... especially, since all the daughters of the various isotopes are in secular equilibrium all the way down to the first stable element which is lead. But given that action levels for those decays (for purposes of remediation) have been placed at ~ 4 pico-curies... the ~ 20+ milli-curie level of beta-emissions would not be something that I would want to inhale, even though the next decay product is a relatively safe stable isotope that should be of little concern insofar as affinities and uptake are concerned. Your thoughts on this, especially given your background, would be welcome!

    • @proteqcustomgear
      @proteqcustomgear  Год назад

      Thank you for your kind words again, Cheryl! I am not at all a subject matter expert on the chemical properties/risks of the sights. However, I can say that I have personally put several sets of night sights through high round counts and plenty of abuse, and have never once had one rupture or leak to my observations.

    • @cheryltysver4819
      @cheryltysver4819 Год назад

      Thank you for your prompt response. I just thought it would be good to get the heads up out there for anyone thinking about tinkering with the sights or a cautionary note for anyone that might encounter possibly damaged sights due to being dropped...et al.! I have a bit of a background concerning safety issues involved in the transport of hazardous materials, both chemical and radiological... and as noted was still a little surprised at that level of activity... definitely not something I would want to internalize, especially via inhalation. By the way I am not Cheryl...I am one member of a family plan. Thanks again for all you do and keep your powder dry! -MLV.

    Perfect vid for me. I've been tasked to pick one out for a girl. From reading, the girls like these. It is concealable, reliable, and low bore height, and they seem to be able to handle them. The only significant advantage of the later production units is a better, longer-lasting night sight. The price is high but unlike a cell phone, she only has to buy it once. Stainless means no rust from paw prints and her not keeping up on the cleaning. Thanks!
