    Thank you for making this easy to understand. One question. How did you get to film the live view video?

    • @TonghoPhotography
      @TonghoPhotography  3 года назад +2

      Thanks for watching. I'm really glad it was of help. To answer your question, I used an HDMI Video Capture device (www.amazon.com/edola-Camcorder-Streaming-Broadcasting-Conference/dp/B08CR52H9J/ref=pd_lpo_3?pd_rd_i=B08CR52H9J&psc=1) to capture the camera video into the PC. On the PC, I used a freeware called OBS to capture the video into a video clip.

    AI servo only work by the viewfinder for me personally is it normal? I have a canon t7

    • @TonghoPhotography
      @TonghoPhotography  2 года назад

      Hi Océane Gagnon, yes it is normal. T7 is a DSLR in which AF works differently in Liveview (it uses Contrast Detection instead of Phase Detection) and is too slow to work with AI Servo.

    • @TonghoPhotography
      @TonghoPhotography  Год назад

      You're right. Canon used to call this mode AI Servo mode (in the DSLR). Now it is simply Servo.

    Great explanation. I am new and using eos M5. I am trying to understand the difference between "servo" and tracking and smoothe zone." I Hope you can help.

    • @TonghoPhotography
      @TonghoPhotography  2 года назад

      Hi Larry, for action shooting (i.e. moving subjects) you need to use Servo mode instead of one shot and also change the AF method to Smooth Zone. The technique is to pan after the object or Point and Drag, press the shutter half way to establish initial focus. Do not release the shutter button at all...keep the 9 AF points (Smooth Zone) on the subject...as long as one or more of these 9 points are on the subject, the camera will keep the subject in focus...press shutter fully to take shot(s) but do not fully release (you'd lose focus if that happens).

    If you enable eye tracking it will be more accurate again.

      Not sure I understand your comment. Can you explain?

    • @oo0Spyder0oo
      @oo0Spyder0oo 3 года назад +2

      @@TonghoPhotography that’s ok, I thought you were using an r5 or r6, that focus square goes smaller again with eye tracking turned on, it literally sticks to the eyes of people or animals and keeps the focus there as you pan.

    • @TonghoPhotography
      @TonghoPhotography  3 года назад +1

      @@oo0Spyder0oo You are right. It is true that R5/R6 makes tracking BIF much easier with animal eye-tracking but that does not change the difference between One shot and Servo operations. Thanks for your comment. Maybe I should get myself an R5, ha ha...

    • @oo0Spyder0oo
      @oo0Spyder0oo 3 года назад +2

      @@TonghoPhotography yes I know it doesnt change one shot and servo, just that it adds more to the servo operation. Yes the tracking, both animal and human options, really makes servo come alive. You would be amazed how much better servo is when it sticks to your subjects eyes, unlike the larger tracking box which could be on the person's nose for example. Have a good one.

    • @TonghoPhotography
      @TonghoPhotography  3 года назад +1

      @@oo0Spyder0oo Agreed. The RP does have excellent human eye tracking. I did mention in the video that I use mostly eye tracking in Servo mode. I only use the single point focus to isolate the other distractions (including eye-tracking) to bring out the main difference between one-shot and AI Servo.

    I guess with One Shot and AI Focus, you can have one point or all points of focus. How does multiple points know which one to focus on (in AI Servo mode)? Will it always focus on what's closest?

    • @TonghoPhotography
      @TonghoPhotography  Год назад

      From what I observed, except for Face+Tracking which looks for the faces/eyes, the other will look for 2 things: contrasty area and closeness to the camera. If both are present, it will grab that one.
