My recently accquired 5D Classic has just expanded it's potential. I was having some difficulty understanding Servo from the manual. All cleared up and understood now; after a 10 min. youtube video. Great !! Thanks for your upload....and thanks to the lad also.
Very good demo. Just got in with minimal yet concise info...got the shots and reviewed each one. That's how a tutorial should be. Thanks for putting it together.
Nick informative tutorial , good job . Please can you advice me if i want to shot in al servo mode its only important to you lock focus first time and you can just keep shutter pressed fully and camera will be automatically refocusing plus taking pics ? Also if i want to recompose a photo in Al servo mode so my subject is in corner can i focus on subject , recompose and then start taking shoots , is camera capable to take that ? Thanks alot for any replay...
thanks that was super useful was searching videos for auto focusing but I couldn't understand none of them. but yours was super duper easy..... could you please make a video explaining Flexizone Af, Live mode and Quick mode ...
Hi Nick, very clear and insightful tips & tricks here. Thanks for sharing! PS: Oh and yeah, please extend my thanks to Dylan. Without him and his super red bike this great vid wouldn't have been complete! lol
I think so. If you set AI Servo and then "subject tracking", you should be good. Remember to go to the AF Menu Tab - > AF5 - > Initial AF pt set for Face + Tracking and change that from AUTO to manual selection. Changing this setting allows you to place the AF area over your subject via the touchscreen which initiates subject tracking and you’ll see that the camera places a shapeshifting box around your subject and track it across the frame.
How it does affect the fact of have changed the focus button to the "asterisk" button instead of shutter button as originally was. Thanks for the video. :)
Hi Bani, this depends on the camera. For a long time, useable autofocus on DSLR video and other video cameras was all but useless. Canon rule the roost right now with their Dual Pixel Autofocus which is superb but many other cameras are now focusing (excuse the pun) their efforts on good autofocus for video. Check with the camera reviews before buying : )
Amazing video. So far the best video I have seen on YT explaining 1 Shot and AI Servo.
Thank you...really appreciate the feedback 🙏👍✌️
Well done, I have an older T2i, trying to familiarize myself with the different AF modes. Thanks, Cheers from San Francisco . . . . Bob
Thanks for the feedback Bob, much appreciated and good luck with it. Most of all, enjoy the learning process 👍
Thanks to you and Dillion. Maybe in a few years, do the same video. But have Dillion on a motorcycle ?

Ive just bought a canon R, and I loke photographing planes, do the blue boxes follow the plane as its moving?

@@NickStubbs Thanks for this, I managed to get a pic of a 380 landing, think I made a mistake following it moving with the camera,
Thanks for explaining in the most practical way. I would like to watch more videos from you.
Thanks Sudheer, appreciate the feedback 👍✌️
Thanks for the upload. What shutter speed were you using?
You're welcome Ben. I was averaging between 1/800th and 1/1000th sec.
@@NickStubbs thanks #bitlate
@@benmansfield6032 Just a tad 😂
Really helpful I'll use al servo all nite point focus when people move fast. And one shot one point for still object
Sounds like a good plan!
At last, a good practical demo, thank you.
Thanks Kevin, appreciate the feedback 👍
Thank you Nick for a very informative ,helpful and easy to understand video.
Thanks for the feedback Shamy, much appreciated 👍
Neutral density filter? (in order to shoot at 2.8?)
No, just fast shutter speed 👍
How it does affect the fact of have changed the focus button to the "asterisk" button instead of shutter button as originally was. Thanks for the video. :)
BernarDeath Muor Yes, I think that feature helps enormously and was a great addition to the DSLR.
Very informative video.....thank you. I think the fork on Dylan's bike is on backwards, he probably has outgrown the bike by now anyway. Thanks again
Lol...thanks. We bought it like that but yes he is nearly 6' tall now : )
Thank you Nick
You're welcome Rich 👍
Thanks buddy for the great video. You’re a good instructor.
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated 👍✌️🙏
Thanks Nick!
You're welcome 😁👍
Many thanks. It is really helpful to me.
You're welcome 👍
Why not to shot all the pics at Al photo focus ? What if subject is still and take photos at Al focus ??? Thx
If I'm shooting a static subject, I like to see the focus point light up and hear the beep so I know focus is locked.
Which camera are you using?
I can't remember or see clearly on my phone but it would have been either the 5d mkii or one of the 1-series cameras (1d mkii/iii).
Great video! What camera were you using?
Kayos Thanks. It was the Canon 5D Mkii which has pretty low key focus tech. Lens is EF70-200 2.8L IS.
Can AI SERVO use in video record??

Are you shooting Auto focus or manual focus?
Auto focus 👍
@@NickStubbs Thanks Sir!

Cherish Chavez Thanks and you're welcome Cherish!
Great Video.
I actually use Ai SERVO. The shots are perfect for event like wedding.
Indeed, servo focusing has come a long way since I recorded this.
Nice. Could make a good character for The Fast Show.
Haha. I don't know whether to be flattered or offended. WTH, I'll go with offended so I'm off to my safe space under the stairs 🏠🏃♂️ Just kidding 😉
Ótimo vídeo! Muito obrigado.
Você é bem vindo. Feliz Ano Novo!
I'm using AI Servo and the focus is still really bad on moving objects. Kind of disappointing :(
Results will vary depending on the camera and lens you are using.
I agree with Nick's comment. I'm curious about your camera and lens? Also, what were the lighting conditions?
Great practical
great video thanks
You're welcome...
Well doen
thanks, thanks... thank you very much mate!
You're welcome!
I can see a boy's face from the side in the middle of the video 😂
Great video, buy the poor boy a new grip 😂
Haha...he had one of those noisy "motorbike revving" grips on but took it off for this as it would slip : )
Dude...could you not of picked a easier place for the kid to ride his bike......i mean really...grass??????????
Haha...no, the kids gotta learn! He's now 6 foot tall and as lean as you like so he can thank me and this video for that lol 🤣💪
He’s in grass😂😂
Lol...yeah. It was tough going for him!
fake! the child is a paid actor hehehe
Lol...true, except he wasn't paid! 😉
