  • Do you daydream about tragic things happening? These anxiety daydreams of negative scenarios or tragic events can be very disturbing. People with anxiety disorders often imagine worst case scenarios sometimes referred to as catastrophising. In this video I show why some people are prone to anxiety daydreaming and how to deal with these upsetting daydreams

I've had lifelong GAD! Started with the polio scare in the 1950's. I had to leave kindergarten because of it.

Martin, LOL I thought I was the only one who dipped into the future and did that! Also, I dig up bad/scary memories from my past - many of which wind up as current day nightmares.(trapped downtown at night, purse lost, how do I get home, etc) One thing I've started doing is compiled a list of "Life Threatening Illnesses I thought I had! and didn't!! Then when some new symptom comes upon me like this morning,,,,I can refer to it with humor....(CBT ploy) - "Well, here's another one for my list of 50 illnesses that caused me a lot of stress and for NOTHING!!" Thanks, Martin. I play one of your videos every night when I go to bed. You and my CBT therapist are really helping and I've had GAD all my life.

Thanks so much for all your great videos, please don’t stop cos they’re saving my life! About to play your IBS hypnotherapy, rather than going through all the terrible illnesses I don’t have!

You were very convincing in this video. You had us tricked. For a short time we actually believed you have been to jail! You gave us a great chuckle. I love the analogy with the birds, I find that analogies like the one you used are great teaching tools.

I have these type of daydreams often. Just as often, I have dreams while sleeping that spiral out of control too.😴

Thanks. I found the seagull clip fascinating and watched it over and over to see the different reactions and personalities. They are as different as people.

I have health anxiety about having diabetes since Covid I have had tiredness getting nervous and weak if I don’t eat every two hours, peeing at night (which might just be from being over weight and it pressing on my bladder). I get pain in my leg which hasn’t gone away it makes me believe diabetes has caused nerve damage. I had a routine blood test and it has come back abnormal but it could be anything. I am worried because my anxiety says it has confirmed my belief. I have been day dreaming about being diagnosed with diabetes and me taking medication having horrible hypos and not being able to cope.

So sorry. Even if you have diabetes it's no reason to suffer from anxiety about it. You can get better. My anxiety used to make me dizzy and affect my vision but it's gotten much much better.

Thank you Yes even if I have it diabetes is very treatable and you can eat what you like but obviously with care. My symptoms might not be diabetes Martin himself had diabetes symptoms last year and he’s was fine.
