Thanks a lot, Bob for the detailed video. I repaired my EDU yesterday following your instruction. Luckily it was only dry joint on big capacitor and relay next to it.
Dear friends, Denis asked a good question. This is the general answer for most ECUs: The digital ground is insulated by capacitors to the chasiss ground. There will be more then one 12V input always with a reverse diode protection and/or serial diode and big capacitors. There will be parallel small smd capacitors to main powers to filter noise, one or more voltage regulator reducing from 12V to 5 and even 3.3V. There are mosfet transistors making a power control per channel for 4, 6 or 8 cilinders engine. Most cases just one mosfet transistor is the serial main switch to all the power transistors for injectors. New ECUS uses switching power supply for power transistors, and its main capacitor must the measured. Another power channel with mosfets will control the high voltage coil in its primary. AND make sure all the pins in the main connectors are clean and good conduction to the mainboad. :-)
Bob. Kalpon any time my friend, i also have few repairs on my channel, including 1.7 EDU, i have almost 10 years since i repair these type of controllers
Thank you for a great video, just wanted to add that this tutorial also works for 8971891363. Just finished fixing mine, it was a dried solder joint so nothing big.
Thanks Bob for nice explanation. I found some dry joints and re-soldered them. The car works 3 days and stoped again. all teh components seems to work nicely. I have to do some measurements with oscilloscope to find a problem.
Thank you very much. Bob si estuviera en español sería un puntazo, pero de todas formas con los subtitulos se entiende perfectamente. Ahh ojalá subas algún día la reparación de una ECU del opel astra g 1.6 que es el modelo de mi coche. Gracias de nuevo crack.
Thank you for posting a clear and educational video. I used to be on the bench 20 years ago and I needed help and guidance. I am as yet to confirm the edu is at fault, but everybody says it is. Does the edu drive the pump relay, if so I would like to prove the pump first
+Christian Arancibia Thank you! I never mean to be a teacher. But, through the time, I saw people's need of knowledge. Some of them want to do their tasks right, and anothers need somebody to "teach them to fish". Then, my videos can help in somebody's problems, or just help in a technician's table to feed his or her family. Thanks again for your comment. I am willing to accept any feedback from everybody to make RUclips the "Alexandria Library" everybody wished and need. :-)
+Christian Arancibia Sure! If I could, and I had the resources, I will be willing to help you. Just tell us what did you find bad. We can help another friends in the future too. By the way! There is another Mosfet transistor on the PCB sourcing the ones I changed. (Check it!) ...and the ones I changed have a small SMD FET transistor conected to their gates too. Remember, every case is different, and anything can be bad. :-)
Thank you very much for this video! Here I've exactly the same EDU. It was opened by another technician before and a couple of small SMD components are missing. Could you tell me their codes please? I don't know how to post a photo here, but I could upload it elsewhere.
good day thank you for the video . It has been some time since it was made and it would appear that still these EDU systems are troublesome . Please advise on my unit it was working but i felt it best to take it off and conduct some maintenance work on it, in opening the unit i have found that the tantalum capacitor 106 35k has blown close to the connector which is connected to 25P06 R550 transistor, i have seen so many of these EDU with blown tantalum capacitors ? What can be an upgrade for this, might it not be better to install a 45v ot 50 v tantalum capacitor ? 10uf ? i will hope to get a response from some one more knowledgable so i can order the components soon thank you in advance !!

Hola! Hi! Let's know that most ECUs get damaged by wrong injection pomp system. There could be other electronic module in the pump, that makes damages to your ECU. It could be one common of several other reasons.
Bob. Kalpon , thanks a lot for your reply, I have changed this edu unit, its used but never touched inisde means not opened to fix or something, There is a bosch pump sensor that is allowing fuel to get outside and the fuel is going to edu stick , can feul cause this problem? Tomorrow im going to change this sensor to prevent fuel going to PC.
Some times the problem's origin is the pump itself. Most transistors in the ECU burn because the load is getting in short circuit, in the pump or injectors. It is like audio amplifiers, where we change several times output power transistors and at the end of the day, we find out it was a defective speaker that works fine until it overheats again, making shorts and burning the amplifier's outputs.
Very good and informative vid. I have a question. Those first datasheets are datasheets of original parts and second ones are datasheets of modified and stronger parts, right? IRF540 Rds(on) 0.077 Uds=100V(!) Id=20A Idm=110A IRF840 Rds(on) 0.8 Uds=500V(!) Id=5,1A Idm=32A (it is very close to BUZ91 spec.) It is producing 130V spikes so i dont know if Uds can be 100V. Hi! By sure the vehicle will not pass the anual Technical Inspection. Most countries require highest standards what narrows the repairing job to professionals. Improvisation or adaptations are not in fashion anymore. Even the right to repair had been changing, because now days, the new vehicle's modules must be programmed for recognition by the ECU. So, in a short future, a 2nd hand part can't be added without the right to reprogram the main computer in the car.
you know. nice movie, but it seems to me that you are deliberately misleading people by connecting the wires to the meter in the opposite direction !!! black with red, and at the end of the movie you can see it attached well. I feel sorry for such people !! what did you want to advertise with this movie or help someone ??? you also emphasize where to connect black and where red when taking measurements. think a little man !!! ! greetings

Fix it with mechanical pump

! greetings
