I would be really interested in how you find locations and how you prefer to frame your shots😊Also, exporting and best techniques for quality prints😁 Amazing tutorial, I really enjoyed going through your personal edit style!
Pat, you're one of my favorite photography and editing RUclipsrs right now. Your stuff is so clean, clear, and just aligns with my photography philosophy. Love your educational series too. Keep up the good work and don't stop creating.
12:14 This idea of pushing groups of color makes so much sense to me-I've never heard it put that way and it "clicked" all of a sudden. The color calibration video you did was awesome, btw.
I'm new to Lightroom and this is one of the most clear and practical explanations I've seen yet. Thanks for making the whole editing process a bit less intimidating for us noobs! Also bought your Japan Photo Guide for a recent trip and found it to be an invaluable resource.
We need more of this! I have watched this for like Idk? About twenty-seven times now? We need more end-to-end workflow! From landscape to portrait to street! Awesome frickin' style btw. I like how you utilize camera-color calibration in lightroom.
Love your teaching style, discovering your channel is a revelation! Great to see you talking in an authentic natural voice, compared to some RUclipsrs who think they have to talk really fast and hyped up. Your style makes it easier to listen and learn from you, so thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Pat, this was a fabulous video. Thank you for taking the time to make it. I struggle in editing my own images, but by having videos like this one and others, it shows me the thinking and process of editing. As a visual learner, this really helps!
New to photography. An honest assessment from someone who is still scared shooting in full manual mode..... I felt this is by far the finest, the most comprehensive tutorial I have seen on RUclips that gave you a glimpse, an insight into what a professional is thinking when he starts his post production workflow. Absolutely loved this tutorial and would love to see more tutorials showing you doing different types of edits.
Hi! I’m a Japanese guy. And I’m fan of you as well. Thanks for sharing your skills. It meant me a lot and gave me inspiration. Keep it up and hope to see another edit video😁
Your eye for small details is mindblowing!! Do you ever fall into a dilemma whether to keep the image as accurate as possible compared to reality, or alter it to your own liking?
Currently airplaying this to my TV because it helps to visualize the photo and the work being done… but my god by step 4 my mouth was open ❤️💪🏼 you have some skills and a new follower hope to see more of these! I have been trying to get that anime WB look for sooo long thank you for that!
Im following you on instagram like a a year, and i just realized you have a youtube channel too. Your videos are so helpfull to me. I mean other creators want us to pay for this knowledge, so thank you Pat Kay, you are the best for me 🙂
Man I really appreciate the thoughtful and analytical approach to your workflow, but more importantly, to your explanation. Super helpful to me as a student of the craft
great video! i still at 5:24 where restoring is the start line of the editing ( just realized that my current photo editing way is just a restoring process for you . )
Amazing work! This has taught me to slow down with my editing, and be more mindful of my desired subject. I speed through it and make all decisions on the fly. No more!
Hi! I loved your video and I would like to thank you for your way of speaking because as not English native speaker I could understand everything you said while watching ✨ Have a nice day ☺
Amazing video. I started messing around with Lightroom, and have no idea what I'm doing, especially with the color, and this just blew my mind. Thank you!
I really loved this video…the way you explain things , so clean, so clear , you are a great teacher mate, pls keep up with this good content. The podcast is great too!…I wish to see how you approach picture with photoshop!,
Achievement unlocked - PAT'S editing style Reward: unlocked "Pats editing style" lvl 1 Thanks for another great video! Super helpful! Do you play around much with colour theory and the psychology behind it?
haha congrats on the achievement, now to cop that plat. many levels to go! ;) and yeah, I do, a lot. as someone who has a background in more traditional art and design, it's something I use heaps!
I thought I was going to hate this video. Never have I been interested in photography....NEVER! Long story short, I am looking into grabbing the A7siii (wanted the FX3) and now interested in trying my hand at taking urban/street photography. Also, making an effort to learn how to edit (video/photo) in adobe looks fun, although, my start was on FCPX, but lacks photo editing in my opinion. Long video but learned a lot and well worth the watch. Keep up the great work!
dude this video seriously upped my LR game, thank you so much. I am scared of looking at old photos now because I know they are horrendously processed haha. Cheers!
Why did I just find out you had a youtube channel?! Been following you on instagram for ages, and damn, this videos do not disappoint. Thanks so much for sharing! Huge fan!
Really great tutorial! Little different than I am editing usually, which was fantastic. Love the way you reduced the color cast and enhanced the colors. Will try some of your techniques. Thanks!
That was very cool, I think you did a good job explaining your thought process, and having it broken down in sections is useful. Videos on composition (I really like your use of negative space), color calibration and tone curves would be awesome. Would also love a video about lenses and how to play with focal lengths to achieve different feels (background compression for example).
@@patkay great news :D also just curiosity, have you considered streaming in any way? I would really like to watch one of those editing sessions live, and would give you the opportunity to interact with your viewers too
That was a great tutorial and incredible finished product! Thank you for sharing, and for talking so candidly about what works for you. I often wonder why I'm using certain tools, and will just chock it up to "because I think it looks better". I appreciate you going in depth explaining the calibration and HSL settings which have always been intimidating and something I simply avoid.
I always take my contrast slider down about 15 before jumping into the tone curve, just to counter any camera added contrast and giving the curves more control over the image. Then can always add a little back in later
Thanks for sharing your workflow. I will take a close look at some of my old pictures that I thought would be ruined and see if I can bring a little life through changing the colors the way you did.
Fantastic video and really helpful. Even more helpful than the stuff you used to put on patreon. Seeing the changes in real time helped me understand some things, e.g. ESL, way better than before. Thanks for making this video Pat, I hope there'll be more like this!
best tutorial, clear precise and easy to follow thank you for sharing this tutorial definitely changed my work. I would like to see on day light with the nature.
That's a great video, thanks. I've been using LR for years, but actually learned quite a lot from this, especially the colour management. Much appreciated.
Really enjoyed this thorough process! I like to take a lot of portraits but I find when I edit them in lightroom it has a big effect on skin tones. Could you perhaps make a tutorial like this but with portraits and explain how you can combat it in lightroom?
Thanks for taking you through the process. Colours is something I always had problems with early on in my editing but I think I have a bit more control now using colour balance tint and HSL. I don't really use split toning much!
What kind of editing tutorial would you like to see next?
I would be really interested in how you find locations and how you prefer to frame your shots😊Also, exporting and best techniques for quality prints😁 Amazing tutorial, I really enjoyed going through your personal edit style!
Nature stuff please!
Calibration, definitely.
Color Calibration, could be a great tutorial!
can u do a portrait editing tutorial please?
Loved this video please do one with a model, to see how you deal with skin tones!!
Second this
coco cola has spent billions on promoting their red and white logo only to have you turn it orange

見てありがとうございます😊
Fantastic walk-through! Split-toning is something I've been missing. Thanks for all the great info on your channel.
Split toning is now the color grading for those who pay for lightroom license
One of the best editing tutorial ever!!
aw glad you enjoyed it!
Extremely valuable for me, who has Zero knowledge about Lightroom.
Your eye for small details is mindblowing!! Do you ever fall into a dilemma whether to keep the image as accurate as possible compared to reality, or alter it to your own liking?
Invaluable. Thank you for letting us be a fly on the wall for your full process.

I am not using LR for now, only CR and PS but this is great video. You explain very well and I think I can use the principles in CR. Thank you.

Thanks Pat. I’ve used Lightroom since it’s very beginning and learned things I hadn’t understood before. Great job sir!
Great work. Thank you for this tutorial 🙌🏼
Awrsome. I think i personally liked it wide before your vertical crop
Yeah I like it better too, but you know, Instagram.
You explain everything so simply, is really good... Doesn't this blues bulb you use over the desk changes how you look at the colour?
Thanks Pat
best tutorial, clear precise and easy to follow
thank you for sharing this tutorial definitely changed my work. I would like to see on day light with the nature.
Great video Pat…thanks!
Learn a lot🤩🤩🤩🤩
yay great! =)
Thank you for the video, I learned a lot from this. 😍
Great video, the only thing missing was the export settings.
Great video man!

Very interesting. Good to keep learning others perspectives and subjective choices. Is there an up to date version with new Lr tools?
Awesome man !
