Tool is an amazing band and Danny Carey’s drumming is technically and spiritually in another dimension.
One of thr greats. He always reminded me of another great drummer Nikko McBrain.
I used to work with a guy who grew up with Danny in Paola, Kansas. I was blown away! Awesome.
I play drums, but this is like Algebra to me! So yeah, Danny is a genius drummer.
Danny Carey is a beast!
That's why he is one of the best drummers ever
Yes yes yes fuck yes I love that your reacting to this and this type of "educational" content. Been following reactors of Tool for years now, and this is a first. Love your reaction as well, believe it or not I found you through watching Aurora reactions, which usually isn't my taste of music normally. The thing about Aurora and Tool... I feel they don't have one bad sone. I appreciate your wide span of genres of different musicL man, keep it up man 👊 The best part of your channel, you're genuine, keep it real bro 🤘🤘
Hear hear!
Your reactions make my heart happy brother!
Drumeo has lots of great videos both educational and entertaining. I absolutely love Chad Smith playing 30 seconds to Mars.
Your reaction to the clinic would be awesome! Please check it out! It's in Kansas 2009 playing Rosetta Stoned
Keep on learning!!! be inspired! and most of all enjoy the music around you!!!
Ohhhh, my favorite drummer ever
Danny Carey is the G.O.A.T.!!!!
Drumeo just did an hour long video with Sleep Tokens drummer. Which is the first video interview done by anyone from the band as they are anonymous. He's a great drummer. He plays thru a bunch of songs too
2:50 5/8 into 7/8 just means your counting to 5, coming back to the 1 and then counting 7 and coming back to the 1. All music can be represented in numbers. Most music is in 4/4 but tool will stretch the boundaries of the norm and not just have a song in an odd time signature, but also have poly meters within a verse or chorus. Check the song Lateralus “originally named 987” because the chorus is three bars of 9/8, 8/8 and 7/8. Simply counting to 9 then 8 and then 7 will bring you back to the 1🤌…. music is just math

Great stuff. I was re-watching the live, had to listen to Chad Smith again (everyone should find your video on that, it was great), and then watch the transition into this one. Danny's jazz influence is definitely present, and I just wish they were touring somewhere near me this tour! Thanks again for another good one Mugs.
GOAT. Easy to copy, hard to create.
Time signature on anything is a foreign language to me as well. I just know I like how it sounds.
I agree! Watching it in Drumeo shows me that Danny ain't faking it but it's not the same sound or touch. I could watch these isolated drums all day tho' .
4:50 If you have not reacted to Ticks and Leaches you should consider it. This song has the most iconic Maynard screams!! He blew his voice out recording the song, and had to recover for weeks after, so they cannot play the song live.
He's the fn goat❣️
You mentioned black drummers…check out Dennis Chambers’ Drumeo video😁
You take Neil Peart and give him DMT and build off that. You get the octopus. He is the greatest
Time signatures are easiest understood when felt:
Tap out a beat with your hands, all beats equal length, L for left, R for right hand, using R as the downbeat (the 1). if L is more comfortable as the downbeat, switch.
4/4 = R-L-L-L-R-L-L-L is two measures counted 1234|1234,
for 8/8 that's one measure twice as fast, |12341234|.
6/8 = R-L-L-R-L-L, |123123|
9/8 = same pattern, but 3 groups of 3 beats R-L-L-R-L-L-R-L-L, |123123123|
7/8 = R-L-L-L-R-L-L, |1234123| or something like R-L-R-L-R-L-L, |1212123| is fun at higher speed. Pink Floyd - Money has it like |1231234|
11/8 = RLLRLLRLLRL, |12312312312|, maybe RLLLRLLLRLL or RLLRLLRLLLL
Those are really the most common, 4/4 being so common it's actually *called Common Time. I really don't want to write the word "common" anymore, but there's another, just snuck out like a disobedient fart.
Danny is like the Nicola Tesla in drumming
More tool pls!!!!!!!!!
ALIEN. PERIOD. LOL
Love your reactions to Tool. Please do Invincible. It will not disappoint. I guarantee
Hey do check out Tommy Aldridge on drumeo, doing Crazy train. Wow, Amazing
Will do!
Have you sat around with your bros and introduced them to Tool?
... without kowing you did learn somthing... you dont just know it yet ...
You should watch the AI enhanced Danny Carey drum video that parts were featured in this video ruclips.net/video/D5dh50LBtnc/видео.html
I watched this drumeo video awhile ago and I have to say, they skipped many of the iconic musical parts or themes Danny has played.
