although I’m not a student, it’s nice to learn from your videos. It makes me feel like I’m a student and it encourages me to consider a career in the medical field also.
Hey man, just want to say that I love the channel. I’m currently a pre med trying to find my path, I want to be a radiologist but surgery also interests me. Your videos are very informational, and I find them very helpful! I don’t know how you juggle, RUclips, and being in a Spine Fellowship, thanks for all that you do!
Wow, so much different than in Germany & Switzerland. Here in many hospitals, brushes have been abandoned, because they can rather cause micro skin injuries. Before OR: thorough 1,5-3 min hands & arms desinfect using special liquid & method.
Always enjoy watching your videos Dr. Webb! Am still in high school but am very passionate and interested in pursuing a career in medicine! Great to have role models like you out there to be inspired! :)
Sir I'm studying Bs surgical technology so can you tell me about after operation which detergent or solution use for hand wash. Before surgery it's ok i understand but after surgery can you tell about ?
Please interview Dr. Ted Rummel , he is a paralyzed orthopedic surgeon who still operates even though he is paralyzed from waist down using electronic wheelchair
Why is scrubbing so important when surgeons wear sterile gloves over their sterile hands, is it just in case there is a tear in the glove that might cause an infection??
You would think hospitals would have a designated sink for surgical scrub-in where the sink has a motion sensor to prevent contamination from the handles, it is more expensive but probably will cost the hospital less in the long-run.
What if you have cuts on your hands or arms? Or, lets say you work on your car and you have some grease under your fingernails or motor oil in your pores (even after you wash with an abrasive soap)?
Scrubbing will not make your hands sterile. You are surgically clean, you still can’t go and touch everything on the sterile field with your bare hands. You are still limited to what you touch with your hands, usually a towel that’s passed off and a gown before doming sterile gloves.
Nowhere near the stage of doing a surgery but still clicked immediately 😅
Ked Talks I’ve never read something so factual
Same
Ha thanks! Well, I appreciate it. Thanks for watching:)
I'm not even in med school and I love watching your videos!
Thanks! 🙏🏾
Should do a tour of a typical OR and some common equipment 😊
Good suggestion! Will look into this
I'm an M1 and just had my scrub training last week! So exciting
Awesome! Good luck and enjoy!
So thankful for you. No one has ever given the insight you share.
Thank you! 🙏🏾
Now I’ll be at home pretending like I’m scrubbing in 😭
Totally don’t do that after the bathroom😂
Love the video's brotha! You're adding crazy value to all the pre-meds on YT! Keep pressing!
👊🏾

It is a great feeling to scrub for the first time for a real operation!

Thank you! I’ve always wondered how this is done properly. ☺️
Hey Dr.webb, a third year here! Thanks for the video, can you do another on proper gloving and downing technique? Thanks Dr.Webb💪🏽
Thank you for taking some time from your busy schedule to make all these videos. Very informative.

I would love if you made a full video recording a surgery!!
Very useful content, im taking my surgery course this semester so this is really helpful💪
Good luck!!!
New videos coming every week; like hand washing, du rags + waves - and you don't wanna miss 'em.
Will you ever try to gain patient consent for displaying procedures, following all rules of your institution and HIPPA laws?
Been a long time fan
Thank you
Ty for the informative video.

memories💜 Creating a sterile field is important also.
Why is scrubbing so important when surgeons wear sterile gloves over their sterile hands, is it just in case there is a tear in the glove that might cause an infection??
Probably :o
Yes
You would think hospitals would have a designated sink for surgical scrub-in where the sink has a motion sensor to prevent contamination from the handles, it is more expensive but probably will cost the hospital less in the long-run.
Should the surgical team all have the same handedness (Left or right)?
Not necessarily. It’s a good mixed of left handed people and right handed. You don’t have to be one or the other
What if you have dry skin/eczema lol
What if you have cuts on your hands or arms? Or, lets say you work on your car and you have some grease under your fingernails or motor oil in your pores (even after you wash with an abrasive soap)?
That's why I study all day...
Mask up first😉
What medical salary US????
we dont do that anymore in Germany!
how do you turn off the water?
It turns off automatically or some sinks have foot petals which you can just turn it off with your foot
Me when I get home after going anywhere during coronavirus
Since I learn how to scrub in that’s how I was my hands.
Scrubbing will not make your hands sterile. You are surgically clean, you still can’t go and touch everything on the sterile field with your bare hands. You are still limited to what you touch with your hands, usually a towel that’s passed off and a gown before doming sterile gloves.
They say you’re sterile to probably not confuse students
1 hour of studying for every time he says"essentially". Ayy
Is this just to show us or are you scrubbing before surgery? If so, how are you going to turn off your camera without contaminating your hands again 😁
Thanks, I forgot how to wash my hands.
Forgot your mask, Dr. Webb!
I think a nurse or the surgery tech puts that on for him :o
Talk too much
So how do you turn the water off
It turns off automatically or some sinks have foot petals
