I will remember to comment on videos I watch the premier of!! Great hunt, those are amazingly clear. And that sphalerite was just marvelous. Love turning a boulder into a not a boulder.
Love selenite, I use chunks of it in lieu of acrylic bases for some of my favorite specimens, it’s so neat to see it in the host rock, thanks for sharing it with us!
Great Sphalerite crystals. I remember a decade or so ago I found a pocket of the green ones. If you backlight them with a bright light you can really see the color. 👍😁
Nice finds! I unfortunately have not had time to get out on these quarry trips lately, maybe the next one. I really enjoyed seeing those sphalerites, one of my favourite local minerals. I have a few nice specimens from what I think may be the same quarry, but have never seen anything with that colour!
As far as I have heard, its Gymsum Var. Selenite, not just Selenite. Selenite would be the name for clear, window-like gypsum. Super cool find tho. Especially those sphalerite crystals
Yes selenite is a variety of gypsum, it's not only clear there are opaque versions of selenite, mainly to do with imperfections in the crystal structure and or inclusions, hope that helps
"Turned a boulder into no a boulder". lol. Always a good day when you turn a large rock into smaller rocks and collect some crystals. Enjoyed your vid.
I am in south east on the border. Found a geode clear crystals some centimetre square. What might it have been. A woman stole and wondering where it might turn up.
I am situated near the Niagara peninsula, I can't disclose these exact local of this quarry do to policies which allow us to collect there in the 1st place.
Very cool specimens.
Thank you!
Those are very nice selenites!
Thank you, I was pretty happy to be able to extract the big one!

Thanks, for sure. It's been on my list to collect a really large chunk of clear selenite, I am glad I finally did!

That's a shame 🥲
Nice crystals my man!
Thank you! 😀
Great Vid!!!!!!
Thanks
What are the uses of these other than conventional pieces?
Well in this part of Ontario these minerals have no other value, they would just get crushed up with the other rock to make aggregate.
To be truthful I have no favorites! Because I like them all. Take care.
Thanks Norma!
Where in southern Ontario are you?
