I wanted to add torque specs for anyone that's interested. The fill plug on top is 35Nm, main drain plug with the tube is 35Nm, and the little plug is 8Nm. VIDA does also recommend resetting the adaptations and the fluid life counter, but I'm not sure how to do that without VIDA. Anyways, great video and information.
VIDA does NOT reccomend resetting the adaption when been doing a oil change. Only the oil change counter. Also remender, this is not the prosedure that is recommended by VIDA. The correct way to do this prosedure is to pump out the fluid 2 ltrs by each time through the transmission oil cooler.
Never reset the adaptions on a used transmission. Adaptions reset is only for when a transmissions has been rebuilt or had significant components replaced. Only reset the fluid counter for a service like this
Thanks for the great video - very helpful! One question though: If you expect 3 quarts to drain out and exactly 3 quarts drain each time, why is it necessary to go through that procedure at the end where you check the temperature and use the overflow pipe? Why not just put 3 quarts back in every time? Won't that guarantee you'll have the same amount of fluid you started with?? Thx
You are correct. If only 3 comes out then you should be good. However some people do 12 qts or more. When this is done the transmission warms up and you can over fill and get weird shifting. Good question hope this helps.
Thank you very very much for this quality made video guide, you even included factory recommendations! 🔥 It's very helpful since our shop doesn't have VIDA software.
Tap the old oil from the transmision, Put the plug back. Release the hose from the cooler at the top. Put an other hose on it to the old oil can. Turn the car on,and let it run until you see some air. Refil the Transmission. Until you see fresh oil. Put the transmission cooler back on the cooler. Fil transmion until its on level( at the good temp)
Greta video, thanks. Just one quick question, the shift lever doesn't move from Parking position (with the break pedal pushed) and when I turned the engine off the "gear not in p" message shows, even if the lever is in parking position. Do you have a recommendation to take the lever from lock mode? my XC60 has a remote key Thank you in advance for your kind response.
Nice video. Around how long while the engine was running, did it take to reach the right transmission temperature? (Weather is summer where i am currently)
It is 3 quart per flush. He flushed it 2 times. The third time the 3 quarts stay in the transmission box (3x3=9 plus 1 for spilling etc is about 10 quarts).
I don't understand how three liters of oil flowed if you didn't remove the long screw. min 5:43 You removed the small screw and three liters flowed, but how?
First you pull the center screw. You usually get about 1 liter. Then you use the 17mm Allen to remove the center piece which is the level pipe. Once that’s removed all the fluid dumps out. Hope that helps.
center screw It's not the oil level? How can a liter of oil flow if you have to fill with maximum oil up to that point.I know what the two screws are. The small screw is for the level. The long screw indicates how much oil you have to put. There is one liter left in the gearbox after emptying. Put four liters in and loosen the small screw to empty the extra one liter.I don't know why so much oil flows when you unscrew the small screw.
Hi sir i need u r contact details i calling or message u r free time because iam doing past 26 years iam from India iam I facing Volvo s60 D5 auto transmission only 4th to 6th gear failure only parking, reverse, nutral, drive, only 3rd gear running driver mode no auto shifting please i want u r guidelines TCM is resently chenged but no use

Thank you for details. Very clear with tips and straight forward.

Great job buddy! Thank you so much for the video!
All the best...
Thank you for this video.... I need volvo vida full diagnosis scanning tool kit after year 2016 all model
Good video very straightforward
Looking good Darwin - J Ellefson
I can vacuum the atf from the filler plug port and put same amount back.
I tried that and didn't get much. Couldn't get even the thinnest tube down very far into the transmission

@ Evolution Motors
Sir, Great Quality video.
Would it be the same process and fluids on a 2007 XC90?
Thanks.
Yes it will
@@evolutionmotors9374 thank you for taking the time to respond.
You have a great day!!!!
Well done!

A whole litre and half came out the transmission, duringvthe leveling part, this being after after i poured 4 litres... so maybe was tooo hot.
It can take 15 to 20 minutes.
Great video!
Great video! is the process the same for 2019 volvo s/60 awd T6 (4cyl supercharge turbo)? When is a good time to change the transmission fluid? 50K
If you live in a hilly or dusty area they recommend every 30k miles. For most people 50k is just fine.
Really easy to follow video, thank you. Do you need to plug it in to vida to get the gearbox into service mode or do any kind of relearn.
No. The only thing to reset is the oil life counter. It doesn’t need to be reset.
No. After the new fluid is in and full you just drive it. There is an oil counter that can be reset in the TCM but its not critical.
I have 2013 Volvo V60 D2 1.6l diesel with PowerShift auto gearbox. Where do I locate transmission dip stick? Or it doesn't even have one?
The fill plug isn't where you stated. Mine is turbo cylinder. The air box and some part of the ecm is located there
What gearbox do you have?
@@sergeibzk 8 speed.
I assume tiptronic
@davidjoles9737 I assume this guide is for TF-80SC and TG-81SC.
Which one do you have?
@@sergeibzk Don't know
@@davidjoles9737 That's alright. You can check it on the top of the gearbox , there is aluminium label
Does the oli filter also need to be replaced ?
Ok but how to change the oil filter? The filter is very dirty and clogs oil. Not only does changing the oil help.
The only way to change the filter is to dismantle the transmission. It’s not intended to be serviced. I know crazy right?
Japanese theft.I would not allow such a thing to be sold.
Is it same procedures on Volvo xc60 2009 2,4 diesel automatic?
Yes it should be.
Cheers man
Thanks for your comments. I'm not sure. We don't get the diesels over hear in the states.
So much oil do you need? is it 3 quarts or 10 quarts total?
It is 3 quart per flush. He flushed it 2 times. The third time the 3 quarts stay in the transmission box (3x3=9 plus 1 for spilling etc is about 10 quarts).
It usually takes around 10 to 11. I drain and fill 3 times.
So you didn't bother to check the torque fot the screw?
Oh yes, it’s 25 foot pounds.

Does this box not have a filter?
It does but it is internal and requires transmission rebuild to replace.
@@evolutionmotors9374 thank you for the reply and the information! Much appreciated
Change every 30k or dont touch it!
