Dwyane Wade - Supreme Shot Blocker

  • Dwyane Wade. 3x NBA champion. 2006 Finals MVP. 2x All-NBA First Team. 3x All-NBA Second Team. 3x All-NBA Third Team. 12x All-Star. 2010 All-Star Game MVP. 2009 scoring champion. 2008 Olympic Gold medalist. Miami Heat’s all-time leading scorer. 3x NBA All-Defensive Second Team. Dwyane Wade also stands at 6’4”, with 759 blocks for his career. The record for most career blocks by a player 6’4” or shorter was held by the late great Dennis Johnson, until Wade broke it with career block number 676. He is undoubtedly on of the greatest shot blocking guards the game has ever seen, his final year in Miami proving to be no exception. In the 2015-16 season, he registered the second most blocks for the Heat after Hassan Whiteside. Whether he’s Flash or Father Prime, Wade has always found a way to impress on the defensive end.
Wade’s placement among the best shooting guards of all-time has long been argued. Some say he’s the third best shooting guard all-time, easy. Some disagree. What cannot be questioned, however, is the elite nature of his shot blocking ability. For the regular season, Michael Jordan (6’6”) had 893 blocks. Kobe Bryant (6’6”) had 640 blocks. Clyde Drexler (6’7”) had 719 blocks. Again, Dwyane Wade (6’4”) has 759 blocks for his career so far. For reference, LeBron James (6’9”) has 773 blocks. These numbers get more interesting when the postseason rolls around. Dwyane Wade has more career playoff blocks (166) than Jordan (158), Kobe (144), and Drexler (108). Yes, defense isn’t all about blocked shots, or even measurable stats, but the fact that at his height, Wade was able to so heavily impact the game on that front must be worth praise.
I wanted to take a highlight some of Wade’s defensive abilities in his final year with Miami. I still cannot believe that the Heat organisation let him walk, but if there’s anywhere I wanted him to end up, well, let’s just say he’s somehow been one of the most beloved players in Chicago throughout his entire career despite eliminating the Bulls repeatedly in the playoffs. I love and have always loved Dwyane Wade’s game, so expect at least a few more videos on who I believe to be the third greatest shooting guard of all-time.
I know some of you will complain about this block or that block not being in this video, but these are the ones I could get, and format, and fix. This isn't comprehensive, not by a long shot, but it is meant to be fun, so let's soak it all up.

he's not just a dynamic athlete, he's a true great shot-blocker. Notice in the later years he didn't have as much lift so stuffs the player at the start of the play. Clever, catquick on the ball defender.

All round, Wade has been the best guard in the game for about 12 years now. Sorry but Kobe wasn't running down shots and swatting them in the third row. Like Lebron, DWade is also a freak of nature. The guy is built like a rock, size 15 feet, huge powerful hands, long arms, strong legs with amazing leaping ability for such a beefy guy. Wade is a true beast.

Prime Kobe > Prime Wade. You obviously didn't watch Kobe during his prime years. Kobe blocked every superstar in the NBA, including MJ. Go watch his shotblocking highlights. Kobe was also a fantastic on-ball defender as well

    • @jerryallover4193
      @jerryallover4193 7 лет назад +10

Kobe is very overrated. He came in hungry but he fell off years ago. Wade has really been the best guard in the game since he won his first piece of hardware. Kobe was the man before Wade came along. He didn't adjust to the modern game like Wade did. All of Kobes first teams belong to Wade. Kobe being better than Dwyane Wade is nonsense and this is coming from a fan of Kobe

    • @laphonz

Getting blocked behind constantly will have you second guessing your shot

If that's "easy", name other 6'4 or lower guys in NBA HISTORY getting LOTS of blocks from behind. Or 7 footers. We'll wait.

i wonder if Dwyane Wade will be fake crying again on his Hall of Fame speech like he did when Kobe Died. I have the video on my page..his eyes were CRYSTAL CLEAR. He was making sniffling sounds and his nose was dry. Watch the video here ot elsewhere. It was disgusting. No one cries with clear eyes. Gabrielle gave him something acting lessons!! Disgusting

Noone cares. We're here for blocks. Why are you here other than to be a hater talking irrelevant shit?

I wouldn't say best shotblocking guard ever. MJ gets even that. I've seen some spectacular defending from MJ, and some immense shotblocking, and his era had tons of physical athletic players. He's also simply got better numbers in his prime BPG than Wade.

I grew up watching MJ and he wasn't blocking shots like this.

MJ was the better overall defender but wade probably has the edge in just shot blocking. Not taking anything away from MJ cuz he was a great shot blocker too but wade is just absurd

Your out of your mind... just look at some of the names he's blocked.
      Kobe Bryant
      Dwight Howard
      Derrick Rose
      Stephen Curry
      Dirk Nowitski
      Tim Duncan
      Steve Nash
that's not even 1/2 of them bro.

HTTR bro facts LeBron James just join Dwade's Block party list, there no way u can say MJ was better in that category.. now to say MJ is the goat is a diffrent story, but if we are talking most prolific shot blocker of all time at the 2gaurd, Wade tops that list & will for a while.
